Any word on if it ended up on RightStuf yet? I want to preorder these as soon as I can and get them 2 weeks early

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

They're pretty raw, and not really clean, but I hope it's alright. That's also all I have, I don't have any scans of the spines, or any of the other boxes.
Awesome, give me just a few minutes, and I'll put together a Mockup FUNi version based on the pictures Mike took!!
If you notice Funi's box, they kept the English translation that was on the original Dragonboxes.

Funi's October releases have shown up on RightStuf. So sometime next month they should be on there. Personally, I'm going to pick the fastest shipping option so it can get to my house asap.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Question, does anyone know if this picture of Goku:

is available in any art-book or what not?

Let's try to not turn this into a "Domestic Season Sets vs Domestic Dragon Box" comparison/ragging/destroying thread. If and when they are warranted and more relevant (if they ever are relevant, again...), by all means go for it.

Thanks!

I hope that it shows up soon. I have a hard time saving money without spending it on frivolous bullshit, and I have a fair amount of spare cash right now, but I don't know if it will last long enough. :(

I think that is exclusive to the Dragonbox.

Most people (non-anime fans) would probably consider the Dragonboxes as 'frivolous bullshit', so your pretty much blowing your cash either way :P

Question for the board here. Some people seem a little apprehensive that we might not be getting all of the series released on Dragon Boxes. What do you make of Funi's purchases so far? We know that they've purchased the entire Z series and the thirteen movies. Was this simply because the Dragon Box Z material that they bought included both the series and the movies? This makes the most sense to me. After Funi has seemingly finally "got" what fans want, it would seem odd that they would release the DBZ Dragon Boxes as Toei did (albeit in seven installments instead of two), and then release only the Z movies in a seperate box set from the DB movies.

My take is they are either waiting to see how these Z sets initially sell to see if they should buy the Dragon Ball Dragon Box masters, or, and this is more likely, they are already planning to buy the DBox masters of DB, but they don't want to divulge this so that their sales of the DB season sets dwindle.

And as some posters have pointed out, Funi will more than likely release their DBoxes just as Toei did, in order. Again, I've been bewildered before by the choices Funi has made, but it would bewildere me even more when they have admitted their mistakes and have thrown the fans a much-deserved bone and then have them jack up the Movies DBox.

Let's face it, it seems Funi is going to make a ton of cash yet again off the DB franchise, but this time with a damn good product. It would seem they would have enough money to splash to Toei for the DB masters, which are probably much less expensive (less episodes and Z being more popular). The same and even more can be stated with GT.

It seems I will be collecting for some additional years, but I am extremely excited about it. November 10 needs to get here pronto.

The way I see it, Toei took so much pride in their Dragon Box Masters and gave Funimation such a hard time about getting them, that they probably wouldn't let them do it (release them) wrong. I figure that Toei stipulated that they properly put out the Dragon Boxes, completely. At least, I would if I took that much pride in something; I wouldn't let someone half-ass it and release an incomplete product.

That's what I'm thinking. I don't think Toei would let Funi release these if they decided to mess with the masters. And besides, Funi probably spent so much money to acquire the masters that they've realized that it would be a waste of money to fuck them up and DVNR them.

Oh, I don't think Funi will do anything with the masters, like DVNR them and such. I was discussing the release pattern of the material. Like is Funi going to release the Z DBox movies seperate from the DB ones, which is unlike the Toei Movies DBox. I don't think they will; I just think the Z movies came in the Z DBox bundle, as the DB movies will come in the DB Dbox bundle. I just kind of hope Funi wouldn't make that kind of error again with a seemingly perfect product to release, and honestly, very little extra work for them to put into the product.

"We aren't going to change a darn thing. We are going to give darn fans excatly what they wanted." So, do any of you really think they will re-release for 5th time after Dragon Box? Bleah. I don't think so. So, quit complain and be appreciative that they even release Dragon Box at all. Toei didn't give Dragon Box masters for no reason after all, so we are going to trust Toei on this one. How many times have Toei messed up? Same thing with Funimation. For now, let's wait until Hujio get his hand on this one and give us a review. The you all can decide whether to buy it or not.

Funimation has to realized that they can't mess up this time. Dragon Ball series is the reason why Funimation is still alive today. Without it, there will be no popular animes that is today, such as Case Closed, Naruto, Bleach, Suzuka, etcs. Dragon Ball series is their main way to milk our money no matter what. We will always be Funimation's slaves for a long, long, long time. Honestly, why did you all buy season sets knowing they are flawed products? So, since Dragon Box is ultimate product which very few fans ever get hand on them because of steep price and pre-order limited edition, we finally legally get Dragon Box for cheaper price.

I fully intend to but it if it even remotely resembles the Japanese Dragon Box. However, I see no reason to stop being concerned about what Funimation does. They make mistakes; it's kind of their thing. Pointing out these mistakes and asking for more got us the Dragon Box Z. I see no reason to not worry about episodes per disc, special features, and the DB and GT Dragon Boxes. Say it with me people: Yes we can!

I didn't buy the season sets in hope that we would get a 4:3 release in the future, but I never thought it would be the DBox.

And I agree with you regarding Funi cannot possibly mess this up (well they actually can). It is almost imperative that they get these releases perfect, and they can because they do damn well with a lot of their other titles. In Funi I tentatively trust!....

I'll get the hot glue. You bring the paint and clay. We meet at dusk.

I really don't think that we'll see those special offerings from the Japanese release. I don't think Funimation ever does stuff like that for any property. Too bad it's not Viz; half of their releases involve some kind of figure or something.

Wow! Those look... nice...... They actually look like my original scans from back in 2003 and 2004. Hence, I didn't feel comfortable putting up larger scans of the Dragon Boxes on the site. But with a new scanner, that will soon change. Here's a preview, for anyone that's interested.

Ever heard of the phrase, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth"?

Maybe they could do a proof of purchase thing that was done with the DBox singles. You collect all the DBoxes, then go online and register your proof of purchases, and they send you the diorama in the mail.
