Comparaison between two eras, 1990 vs 2015 :

I may be in the minority, but I like the new animation in comparison to the old animation.

I would pay happily if they redid all of Dragon Ball in that animation.

I really hope Funimation replaces Momoiro Z's song in the dub. I can't imagine anyone appreciating that in this context anywhere besides Japan...

I would hope that they would as it's a horrible song.

Gettin' reeeaaally tired of people pretending that J-Pop is something new to this franchise.

And wishing for music replacement infuriates me. We've come such a long way. Don't wish for regression. The film is the film. If something in the film sucks, then WELP. Guess it'll have to suck. A random dubbing company in Texas should not be allowed to make that choice.

I wish that'd be for real. That'd make DBZ the first anime to do so.

Spirited Away won the Oscar for "Best Animated Feature" in 2003, so "F" would be a little late to the party in this alternate universe where Dragon Ball is Oscar-worthy. Even if the writing is fantastic, the animation and art direction in "F" lack the inspiration needed to deserve a nomination (from what we've seen, of course).

I hope Tights shows up and reveals she is married to Jako. Having Blooma, Tights and Gray as sisters-in-law and Vegeta, Tarble and Jako as brothers-in-law would be the most hilarious thing ever.

But what about Jaco's girlfriend in the epilogue? That was true love!

I like the cleaner line art of the new animation more. Freeza looks legit shook in the new shot.

I'll tell you what, though: it's just like Toriyama to reverse Goku and Vegeta's roles and have Vegeta defend Earth's honor in Goku's place, arriving while Goku's at Frieza's mercy.

Opening with Trunks was epic and awesome. I'm so glad they didn't ignore that Trunks killed Freeza. Last movie they said Goku defeated Freeza with no mention of Trunks.

Also I'm with ya too, I like the new animation here better. Not in all cases though. Sometimes the new animation is ugly.

Two completely different key animators working from two completely different character models. It's going to look different, especially when the newer rendition was obviously given a small number of in-betweens and a weak key animator.

Regarding my Jako comments...well...this is what I get for not reading all of Jako!

After seeing so many "just a recolor" complaints, I'm now looking closely at the new design and noticed some differences. His eyes are different, there's a line around his waist, and the shoulders don't have shiny purple parts. Also, it's worth noting that they've been using a term 進化 (shinka, evolution) instead of 変身 (henshin, transformation) to describe Freeza's change for some reason.

You know, it would have been a lot cooler (no pun intended) if the new Freeza form was translucent kind of like a block of ice. At the very least it would have avoided the criticism of simply being a recolour and I can almost guarantee it would have been more visually appealing to look at on screen at than the current gold/purple abomination.

It's like Beerus and Whis sucked out all the creativity. It went to them, while SSJ God and this...got whatever was left.

Yeah, his eyes are no longer a flat part of his face thanks to that new brow. I guess nobody wants to pay attention to the details.
