Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Every series is inconsistent, at times. In this particular example, I don't think it's that big of a deal. Sure, we see normal humans later even see the movements of Buu arc characters, but that's purely plot convenience and obviously an extreme outlier compared to all of the other feats in the story. And as one series, Dragon Ball is less inconsistent than the average comic book character would be, across several authors, even discarding adaptations like movies, video games, and cartoons.Rocketman wrote:My favorite thing about these debates is how inconsistent feats of other characters are to be discarded, while inconsistent Dragonball feats are the Holy Word of God.RandomGuy96 wrote:Krillin and Chun had an entire fight so fast that no one in the audience knew there was a fight
I just don't like doing match-ups with RIDICULOUSLY inconsistent characters, like Wolverine, or Spider-Man for that matter, who once curb-stomped all of the X-Men and held up a building, and another time was defeated by the Punisher.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Humans cant see dragonball chars fighting since dragonball lol.

The audience sees Goten's KMHMH at the budakai and the announcer even dodges it. Lol It's pretty obviously gag, but some people like to point and say "Oh Oh LOOOK!" without considering context.Tsufuru wrote:Humans cant see dragonball chars fighting since dragonball lol.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

The gold saints can't survive under absolute zero, the god tier characters can. Sure, they have really fast attacks, but lightspeed movement is arguibly something even Goku or Tien from 22BT could do if they are there to be taken seriously. Not that I think is the case for both verses. Actually, the most impressive feat I have found in Saint Seiya is Pegasus Tenma from The Lost Canvas damaging the moon after absorbing a blast from Hades' vessel and combining with his own inmature power. Leo Regulus though was killed while launching his own cataclysmic technique which combines the signature techniques from all 12 gold saints. Goku from 23BT could take a cataclysm while defending himself, so he could be stronger than a gold saint, but a divinely empowered Radamanthys seems to be even stronger than that. Maybe Raditz would be a better opponent for Seiya.KentalSSJ6 wrote:As I said, IF I remember correctly (dont take my word on it), I believe its said ANY God/Gold Cloth Saint can survive under absolute zero for a degree of time and can all fight normally at light speed. Otherwise finding accurate feats for Saint Seiya characters is actually a real pain if your not a fan of the series. Perhaps you should ask someone with decent knowledge of it.
Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Citizens watching goku and cell is anime only. Some suggest the announcer at the cell games and his crew and hercule all saw goku fight because they said "what do you think of that" and hercule said "pretty good moves but it's nothing compared to me" but that doesn't really confirm what they actually saw, as it could have easily been bleeps of clashing light fluttering around their remote area between their pauses in battle.Kamiccolo9 wrote:Along with everybody watching the match between Goku and Cell on TV, Mr. Satan being able to keep up with the Pure Buu fight, and, I'm assuming, Videl and Bulma being able to watch the fight against Beers.DBZGTKOSDH wrote: Then comes the 25th TB, where the audience can see Goten & Trunks fighting...
As for hercule and bulma "keeping up" nothing really confirms this. It could be that their perception is limited and they only see the pauses and results of the many bits of fighting and pausing.
However it's important to note that hercule literally dodges kid buu's attack... And goku congratulates him.
Anyways, again, we're talking major gag moments here. It's well established that normal humans can not witness goku and friends in fights, aside from when they pause and take stances.
Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
first the concept of speed is very clear in DB. DB characters continuously fight at ultra high speed and dodge Light speed attacks like Freeza's Death Beam at point blank range.Flight is very similar to sprinting(lose energy over time in real life) in Db whereas flight in marvel is slow to infinite speed by continuous acceleration over time.Kamiccolo9 wrote:Let's bring out some Marvel.
Silver Surfer (Post-Annihilation) vs Vegetto
Gladiator vs Baby Vegeta
.....That should be good for now. This'll be fun
DB character use Bukujutsu which is reliant on their Ki whereas Flight type characters in Marvel don't need any energy to spend on flight. flight in marvel is basically similar to seeing with eyes in real life.as long as you keep on flying they can keep on accelerating to infinite speeds but these characters are very limited in fights seeing how these characters are tagged by spider-man, daredevil, thanos, blackbolt, thing and thor.
Flight in Marvel is a plot device to traverse space where the concept of hyperspace also comes into play. Flight in DB takes a toll on the character like for example when Goku tried to cross the snake-way.
DB characters don't have energy-free Flight to travel space whereas Marvel does.Except Villains in DB , everyone needs air to breathe so DB characters are limited to planets with atmosphere.
SSJ Goku has compared Freeza's death beam as capable of destroying entire planet like Planet Vegeta by his famous speech 'you can destroy planet Vegeta but cant even destroy its inhabitant or something along those lines' after being hit on the face with a beam type attack ( concentrated over a very small surface area like a nail attached to a baseball bat) on his face.
based on Destructive capacity shown by Freeza where he destroys Planet Vegeta with his index finger restricted to his first form, then there is no character below skyfathers in Marvel capable of such a feat.
I would put thanos and freeza both at same tier with Freeza having more Destructive Capacity coupled with ultra high fighting speed while Thanos having more durability due to shields and immortality from death and their fight would result in stalemate due to freeza being unable to hurt thanos due to shields while thanos lacking raw destructive power to hurt freeza.
Peace.

Videl (pre-training) vs blonde Lunch
Videl easily beat down two robbers and was stated to be perhaps stronger than Mr. Satan. Lunch knocked out a muscular soldier with a single punch, launching him several feet in the process, and could run faster than the fastest real world human. Who would come out on top? And no, Lunch doesn't get her guns.

Lunch appears to be stronger and faster. She knocked out a grown man, a rather muscular one, with one punch, sending him back several feet, and was able to keep up with Krillin who was trying to run away from her. Krillin at this point is as fast or faster than the fastest Olympic sprinter. Lunch doesn't appear to be in the real-world standards of strength at all considering her size.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Videl destroys her. I feel like you might be taking some of the comedic scenes too literally, but even so, Videl far outstrips Lunch purely because she knows martial arts, plus a few supernatural abilities as well. As stated in an earlier post, Videl was able to hold her own against Spopovich who had been given an enormous power boost by Bobbidi, and super-human durability. Lunch just has guns, attitude and the debilitating handicap of a sneeze that turns her passive and harmless. Lunch is the type of bandit that Videl deals with regularly, there is nothing to suggest Lunch would cause her any more trouble.

Also, beating up Spopovich isn't really impressive. He has no actual feats other than beating up Videl.
