That I can get behind, and there is even a slight connection between the two (with the next TMQ supposed to be Freeza vs. SS Goku, and Birus having watched part of that battle in the film).

I'm going to be pissed if the game dies before they finish the story. I hate unintended cliffhangers. lol

If they decide to end it, I guess they will finish the story quickly, and then kill it. At least I hope so...
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

20th Century FOX has first right of refusal. And even if they didn't, producing a dub takes longer than the four months the film has been out, and Toei is not just going to hand over the film the second it's released; FUNimation has to buy it from them, and we haven't even reached the street date for the R2 home release.

The internet, while making great strides, has greatly removed a lot of people from the reality of how intellectual property works.

the recording itself is pretty fast though, the latino voice actors just started recording yesterday and the movie will be in theathers in september.

The pleasant speed with which other countries have gotten BOG coupled with no news regarding a U.S. release does lead me to think that Funi and FOX are having issues with one another in terms of hammering out a deal.

Nice! I like it. Is the background music used from the movie itself? I don't remember that being the same music from the Japanese trailer, but I think I may have heard that on the soundtrack.

I had a small hope there'd be new footage in there, but it's the same trailer Toei put together. Realistically just dubbing the trailer does make more sense than cutting a new one in terms of time/money.

I was wondering why I was having trouble understanding it at first; it's because it's in Portuguese, not Spanish. Only some of the words were similar.
On hiatus.

Yeah, it's music from the film's soundtrack.

Argh, I don't know why, but everything about this still seems fan-made, even though we know that it's real.

The music and sound effects are to low, if they lowered the voices a bit or put up the volume of the sound effects and music it would be allright.

Still, that thing is official, since these are the actual voice actors and everything they say is the same as in the original Japanese trailer.
Great for you all Brazillians out there, I'm happy for you (I'll probably watch your version, I always liked the voices)!
I just wish it gets here in Portugal as well!

Also, there's a dubbed CHA-LA in the background after Goku's Kamehameha :P

Just throwing it out there that "Jap" is a racial slur. Not trying to back seat mod, but use something like JPN next time.
OT: I heard some people call this film not that special. They probably watched a cam rip, but I hope it rocks.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

He obviously didn't mean it like that, and I seriously doubt that any Japanese person here with an understanding of context would actually take offense.

Congrats to all these other countries getting their dub. Wasn't it always like that? The Latin American countries would get dubs of DB way before the U.S. did. They happened to be better, too.

Sorry to say, but since you don't own the copyright to the Dragon Balls, you can't really claim any ownership to it. If you added a personal touch to make it different, I would understand, but it's the Dragon Balls to the very detail. You can't claim anything since it's not legally yours to begin with.

Anyways, I wanted to tell you guys something Christopher Sabat said at his Q&A at Animethon today about the movie.

He said every time he talks with Justin (I'm assuming Justin Cook), he asks if FUNimation got the movie yet. As of today, it can be safely said they do not have it. Christopher has no doubts FUNimation will get it sooner or later, and he can't wait to dub it.

We know that Kaioshin is the “God of Creation”. I think the new Kaio planet is the creation of him, after the Majin Buu incident. Because the world needs 4 Kaio planet. Is that possible?

Yeah, the trailer is poorly done that it's like fan-made. All these promotions by Diamond Films are so unprofessional. Since fans in Latin America seem to like claiming that their fan creations are "official" to easily make them famous (I've seen so many fan-made DBZ videos from Latin America labeled as "official" on YouTube,) I still can't truly believe that these are actually happening even though I know they're real.

It's not that he's claiming to be the right holder and they're infringing his copyright. I think he's just saying that it's too sloppy and unprofessional for an official distributor to use fan-made stuff for official promotions, and I do agree to it. Diamond Films is also using some official images that they obviously don't have any rights to on their facebook pages.

By the way, derivative works and their creators have their own copyrights if the works are not dead copies, so official distributors using fan-made works without permission can be illegal even if they have the copyrights to the original stuff. If fan works didn't have any copyrights, that would mean that Shueisha can publish an art book with fan works taken from Pixiv in it without asking the artists, but they actually can't.

Hey, hey, hey, just STOP, I'm not claiming anything. Those balls are a fanart, not a "Modified version" from anything, I'm just saying it's unprofessional if they use fanarts in an official product. I'm even happy if they use them.
