For dub fans, how much of a deal breaker is Nozawa's Goku?

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

Initially, I hated her voice as much as everyone. In fact, I hated every voice of the japanese dub. That was a time where I only watched the portuguese dub and was watching the original Funi dub online, since 4-5 years ago it was extremely hard to find the japanese dub anywhere. But as time went on and I proceeded to give a chance to the original dub, I liked her more and more (as well as the dub itself). I prefer her to Schemmel now.

I have always found nostalgia to be an interesting force in people resisting change, but I try to avoid holding onto it too hard.

I had nostalgia for the Ocean Cast and couldn't stand the change in voices at first when it came time for Funi's dub. I eventually came to appreciate it, but when I got older, I found myself wanting more, and the Japanese version of Z gave me that, despite being reluctant on some voices. I could have become another person who entirely abandoned Funi's work for the Japanese version had Kai's dub not come when it did, giving me voices I liked, but better acted, and with scripts I could only dream of before.

Finding an appreciation for the new even with a love for the old isn't always easy, but those rose-tinted glasses are only good for the past.

Yeah, he did. Fun note, Terry Klassen voiced Eddy's Brother in the Ed, Edd n Eddy movie.

Well, that good for him but James Corlette did notable roles for characters from shitty cartoons like the dad from Cramp Twins and Hugh Test from Johnny Test. :problem:

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

He actually created a couple of cartoons himself too like this show called "Yvon of the Yukon" which i remember watching years ago. Apparently his daughter also currently voices some character in My Little Pony.

Are those cartoons any good? I'm curious to know because Canada doesn't exactly have the best history with cartoons.

It was just potty humour... it's really trashy and not worth watching in my opinion. I HATED the show, and it replaced some gems for that TRASH.
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada
