Woohoo! More News About The New Dragonball Special!
Oh, they are- I just meant that (as you've got in your post) 'osu' is おす, and 'ossu' is おっす- just that the way in which it's written in hiragana (or katakana) should influence the alphabet version of the word.
By the way, in terms of kanji you can have 押忍 as 'osu' AND 'ossu', or have 押っ忍 for 'ossu'; I guess that helps in terms of distinguishing one pronunciation from another, but like you say since they're the same darn thing anyway it's only people concerned with minute details (like most of us here ^_^) who would care.

Ok, bit off topic, but... Did anyone else think that Videl had a baby bump in one of her illustration cards?
If so... My interest in this special just hit a brand new high. (Which is saying something, considering I could've cared less before I saw that.)
To V-Jump and Toriyama: Forget Vegeta and his mini-me. Show us more of Gohan and Videl!

Well, if that's the case, we don't run around spelling it "dess" so why spell it "oss," right? However, in terms of pronunciation they're correct.Cypher wrote:Oh, they are- I just meant that (as you've got in your post) 'osu' is おす, and 'ossu' is おっす- just that the way in which it's written in hiragana (or katakana) should influence the alphabet version of the word.

“Right” in what sense? Are you doing a transcription, transliteration, or something else? And what type?Kendamu wrote:Its not necessarily right to do that, but I personally don't care all that much.
If the point is to convey Gokū’s accent in textual form, then it makes sense to render what he’s saying using some kind of phonetic transcription. If, instead, we want to be able to reconstruct the exact meaning and/or spelling of what he’s saying, then it makes more sense to use some kind of transliteration. In this case, we want to preserve semantics while indicating the broader differences between his regional dialect and formal Japanese, so it’d be most beneficial to use a mix of both, which is essentially what I did. The orthography can not be reconstructed based on “Oss’! Ora Gokuu!” alone; it requires knowledge of the consonant doubling and implied vowel sound ending of osu; but the general “Gokū-ness” persists and that’s what matters in this context.
You can't have "oss" or "os" in Japanese. It has to be either "osu" or "ossu".
Sorry, that was just getting on my nerves.

I think the title will end up being "Goku and Friends Return; The Lost Story of Vegeta's Brother!"

The charater model sheet has him wearing the "Kame" symbol on both sides.JulieYBM wrote:Which symbol is Son wearing on his gi? The gô, Kaiô, or Kame symbol?
It's the character used to write the go in "Goku", "Gohan", and "Goten".SSJ2bardock wrote:Sorry to bring this up, but I've always wanted to know. What does the symbol on Goku's Namek gi mean/say?
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?
