Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection 'F'"

Did you forget about the whole dragon ball hunt? Another wish and Earth blowing up? That is 2 years. Plus that 789 is the US version of the events. The japan version states 5 years after EoZ.

I don't know where you got this mistaken idea from, but the Japanese GT Perfect Files guides establish GT as beginning in the year Age 789, which is indeed five years after Goku meets Oob at the end of the manga and DBZ, in Age 784. According to the first Perfect File volume, everything in GT from Goku becoming a kid up to the final battle with Baby occurs in 789. The "Age 789" date for GT has been repeated many times since then, lately in the updated Chouzenshuu 4 timeline (which somewhat lazily sets all of the main events of GT up to and including the evil dragons stuff as being in "around Age 789"), DB Heroes, the big DB timeline that featured as part of the Toriyama exhibition held as part of the promotion for BoG, etc. It's by no means something confined to the US version. In fact, as far as I know, neither the Funi dub nor the original Japanese version of the GT TV series provide any specific date for how much time has passed between the end of DBZ and the start of GT. The 5 years later figure only first appears in the Perfect Files and other material released after the series began.

Evidently not, and it was never mentioned in the show that they would reset. If they reset after the first wish, then Goku and the gang wouldn't have been able to find them to begin with.

When your argument comes down to "You need to watch the scene in slow motion", I think you're at that point just making far too much out of what boils down to a cool animation effect. Especially given that if he absorbed that energy, A. he'd have had some energy left, which he did not, and B. it probably would've been mentioned, or, y'know, made obvious (although I probably shouldn't bring that up because you evidently think that it's obvious he did).

You need to check your eyes again. Even the official databooks says Goku ABSORBED Beerus' attack.

If this is true, I was not aware of it. I am not 100% it's true as I was not even aware of any such databooks but I suppose there probably are some.

Of course, their canonicity is anyone's guess, given the Daizenshuu...

I'm reasonably sure it's not true, but for the record, if there is a guidebook with anything to say on the subject of Super Saiyan God, it would have to be the chouzenshuu, the series of updated daizenshuu that were released to go along with BoG. Either that, or the BoG Official Movie Guide. But I've gone through all these and don't recall anything one way or the other about Super Saiyan God Goku absorbing energy. In fact, they offer hardly any coverage on anything past about the midpoint of the movie, probably a side-effect of most of them being released shortly before the movie's premiere. Toriyama's also made several comments about Super Saiyan God and other things introduced in BoG in the Full Color Comics Q&As and other recent interviews, but again I don't recall anything addressing this whole "absorbing ki" business.

I've heard Funi said 10 years later in promotional material when they started dubbing it, but I thought nothing was said one way or the other in the show itself. If they do say 10 years later in the series, which episode is it?

She's depicted as dressing like a teenager. Whether she actually physically looks like a teenager is a matter of debate, especially given Toriyama's way of depicting character ages, and the way manga/anime characters often look older than they're supposed to be. I mean, I've been reading through all of Ranma for the past few months, and there Ranma/Akane/Ryoga/etc are all repeatedly said to be 16, but they all look arguably a bit older than that, and definitely older than Bra looks in GT. And Yusuke and friends in Yu Yu Hakusho are supposed to be 14, and also look older than GT Bra. I know it's a bit silly to compare characters from different series with different art styles, but I think it shows that the idea of Bra being much younger than 16 in GT isn't completely crazy and out of left field.

To be fair Bra looks just like teen Bulma who was 16 in her first appearance so...

You keep dodging the point. Ayres is more accurate to Toriyama's vision of Freeza. That's the point you seem to deny. You can say you like Linda more, but you can't say she fits Freeza's character better when that's factually wrong. Hiding behind the opinion excuse doesn't work when the opinion goes against facts. The fact isn't who's voice is more appealing, but who fits the character properly. Linda factually does not fit the character. She can be your preferred voice, but it's straight up bullshit to say she portrays Freeza's character better than Ayres,

I said many times that in my point of view Linda Young is a better portrayal as Freeza than Ayres, it's you that insists saying this that means to me something like: "You must retreat what you said man, I know it's your opinion right, but I don't care because nobody agrees with you, so you're wrong, admit this please"

Besides, for me that's no such thing as "factually wrong" if you can't leave someone with a opinion that highly differs from yours, it's a shame

The whole 18 thing was because of the script by the NOW older AT. Same AT who forgot about Shenron's wish capabilities and quantities. Same AT who forgot the difference between SS2 and SS3. Same AT who forgot that Marron is 7/8 years old and can feed herself. Same AT who counter acts HIS OWN MOVIE PLOT stating that all the good saiyans died with the original Saiyan God but later makes Gine a good mother and Bardock a caring father which that in itself counteracts how Saiyan are an supposed to be an evil race at that time.

Somebody please give that guy a trophy!

And this is why Toriyama needs to be relieved of creative control ASAP. Well, part of it anyway. Most of his mistakes are caught in production, although clearly not all. The other part is the constsnt utilization of lazy, half-assed concepts that undermine the series as a whole.

Please go into retirement after this, Toriyama-sensei. You deserve a good, long rest.

Or maybe a good assistant to be his reminder, someone who had read the whole manga, 508 anime episodes, 2 TV Specials, 13 movies, 3 OVAs and etc.
