I'd buy the original releases, same as I did for DBZ, I bought the majority of my FUNimation singles AFTER the release of the season sets, I wasn't happy with the product, so I made a little extra effort to get something I would be happy with.

The price of DBGT never bothered me, because I didn't buy it all at once, I got it one box at a time (It is GT after all :P)

Welcome to my nightmare:

My dedicated Dragonball shelf was too small :( (Funnily enough it's the GT boxes I don't have room for..how relevant)
SSj Kaboom wrote:Apparently, the age and condition of the film itself is just as vital as the remastering process, which is partially why the Z sets have looked, on the whole, better and better with each Season.
I think that has to do with the fact that because FUNimation's masters for the first two seasons of DBZ looked so bad they were tinkered with a little more, I wouldn't be surprised that the grain removal for those seasons left the image looking so blurry they had no choice but to mess with the saturation and brightness.

I wasn't aware we were competing.

Even so...I've got all three series on DVD..did you buy them twice or something? :?

Anyway, you are the clear winner here, may your e-peen grow even larger.

I'm totally looking forward to these sets...I'm already used to the Widescreen...If the Video quality and colors are up to that of Season's 3-5 for the most part I'll be a happy camper...Even as a Dub Fan, Menza's GT music was just terrible...I think he had maybe 2 or 3 moments that I actually liked of his score.

Well how much would it cost on normal? Or was it just $12 anyway? Because I am dying to get the Daizenshuu and the other books. I need to complete my collection. I already have DBZ Vol. 1-26 and DB Vol. 1-6. I need more.

I wouldn't hold your breath.

Hell, the back of Season 1 of dbz had 4:3 screenshots, I think they just aren't hyping the wide screen anymore, it will be 16:9.

FUNimation are all about consistency now.

This has been the most excitement GT has ever given me.

Those screens are taken from the old singles, though. You can tell by the colors and the overall quality.

If GT is 4:3, consider them purchased by me.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I'm not going to get these (I've got GT in 4:3)

But I really do hope these are in 4:3, I just somehow don't see it happening, it will be interesting though to see how the remastering has fared, is it as bad as the season sets?, or are they taking more care like they did with the movies?

I've been told the end result depends just as much on the film's age and quality as it does the Remastering process itself, which is why the Season Sets have looked better the later they get in the series. GT is about as "new" and probably good condition as they have, so it should look just fine.

Funi has been getting better at remastering ever since season 2. The movies and the specials both look absolutely beautiful in my opinion. I'm not sure how season 4 and 5 look seeing as I haven't bought them but I do think that GT will be in the proper ratio just because it is still relativity new so there probably won't be as much film damage as Z had.

Edit: Kaboom beat me to the punch

But lets not forget about how the Bardock?Trunks double feature looked different from any of the remastered DVD's so far. They still had grain, yet looked better than any release besides the Movies 1 & 2 double feature.
