Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection 'F'"

I wouldn't be surprised if it's F they're dubbing either.
I do plan to watch the dub at some point; but I really want to see the sub first (and even more than both, I want to know more plot info.)

Except there is, because nowhere does he actually state anything along the lines of "this is an official continuation of the original manga". Until he does, everything would seem to be open to interpretation.

There's more to it than that. He mentions all kinds of information linking BoG with the manga, he even talks about a lot of this stuff in the Q&As of the full colour manga. In the manga Jaco the galactic patrolman he even has SSJ God mentioned.

I'm sure Toriyama has mentioned before how he just can't keep up with being a mangaka anymore, but if Toriyama decides this story is a part of his 'canon' it doesn't matter that it's animated its just his story put into animation which means less workload for the man since he can't keep up now. Another thing I think he said before was that he can obsess over the smallest bits of dialogue because he doesn't have to draw, and he even said that was exhausting.

Now you don't have to consider it canon, but with everything we've heard off Toriyama he sure as hell puts it with his own 'canon'.

If Akira toriyama cant keep up with being a mangaka why cant he let his son be a mangaka? hell he could probably draw and continue the legacy of his dad's story franchise, I mean how cool would that be?

Let his son? I'm sure his son would be the one that would have to decide that. Perhaps his son doesn't want to?

People arent just born to become destined what they are. They are often influenced by their parents, grandparents and some times other close relatives. Like a family that has a huge history of military career or being movie actors, there is a high chance that their kids will end up doing the same thing in their life. Now just imagine Toriyama kids know their dad is a famous manga artist, their mother is also a former manga artist, from that you can tell there is a huge chance that their kids would grow up and end up doing what their parents did. Its a common sense.

I'm aware of all that. I was pointing out how ridiculous it sounds to phrase it in such a way that Toriyama would let his son do it. In other words you phrased it without giving regard to whether or not his son would even want to do it... or consideration of whether or not they might even have the talent to draw as well... etc.

I don't even know if Toriyama has kids, but if he does and they did follow in his footsteps I doubt they would want to alter or add to the DB franchise.

The son's name is Sasuke (born around the time the "Z" portion was starting), and there's a daughter several years younger than him (I think they had her near the end of the manga's run?) who was the one showing friends pictures of rl!Beerus and being told how their cat is so un-cute.

IIRC it's supposed be Beerus' new food obsession, replacing pudding. Herms mentioned it in this post:

No, it's a Fukkatsu no F tie-in event that'll run at J World from March 21st to May 10th. There'll be a thing where you can look for the dragon balls (to save Earth from colliding with a swarm of meteorites), guys dressed as Mister Satan and Boo perform a short skit, there's FnF-themed food (a Freeza-style purple-and-white blueberry cake, etc), a rock-paper-scissors tournament with Freeza as special guess...you can even get your photo taken with Freeza. Doesn't look like there's anything about actually showing the movie at the park though.

Oh, and as part of the movie-themed foods, it mentions that a strawberry sundae will feature in the film, apparently as Beerus' latest snack.

Going under the assumption that they are dubbing the film now, what are the odds we'll see the summer release in May-early June? Going off of how Battle of Gods was dubbed, Schemmel tweeted that picture of the extended cut in late June, the Red carpet release was in early July, and the theatrical release was in early August.

Methinks you're assuming a little too much about Sasuke Toriyama's wishes, here. If he wanted to, then sure, but who's to say he didn't want to do something completely different as a career? (Not that he has to do anything, of course, with his family's finances being what they are.) I mean, he's just about 28 by now, so he must be doing something with his life.

My Japanese isn't the best, and I'm not trying to go against Kei's awesome translation. But the quote from the interview is: マンガで連載していた時の続きのつもりで新ストーリーを考えました。 He uses "つもり", which I was taught can imply "intentions" and "plan to/are going to". And it comes off, to me at least, as a very concrete word. But I could be wrong, of course.

What translation? did I miss something?

It's possible KFC's marketing people were responsible for those ideas, and therefore have a claim to preventing them being replicated like-for-like by other companies.

At the very least there's Xenoverse, had Otomo already picked up the role there? Or have they been re-using Utsumi audio up until now (akin to what the Persona series has been doing for Igor, since Isamu Tanonaka's passing)?
