Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
What's the debate about Goten and Trunks' motives going on for, anyway? Gohan says he didn't tell them, period. Probably exactly because telling them to NOT go would make them want to go.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Wait... If Freeza destroys the Earth in the trailer, would Mr. Buu survive that planet explosion, wouldn't he? Kid Buu did survived in space thanks to his regeneration after he made the Earth explode with a ki-blast attack he fired at, so Mr. Buu should survive in space unless he's nowhere/dead after the planet explosion for whatever reason.

It doesn't matter if he tells them. They can sense ki. The last time Freeza returned, everybody was instantly alerted by his ki from space.jjgp1112 wrote:What's the debate about Goten and Trunks' motives going on for, anyway? Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

In the manga they can't sense ki.

And considering how little we still actually know about the story...RandomGuy96 wrote:It doesn't matter if he tells them. They can sense ki. Or the fact that the last time Frieza returned was in a filler movie...

The last time Goten and Trunks were brought out for a big fight, they kinda died.
Having had the kids die once is more than enough reason for the adults to leave them out this time, as far as I'm concerned.

Not letting them get involved in the fight doesn't really make sense though. Wouldn't they need all the help they can get? I mean, even Roshi is apparently going to be joining the fight, even though he never actually fought in the Z portion of the series.Kamiccolo9 wrote:The last time Goten and Trunks were brought out for a big fight, they kinda died.

Goten and Trunks may be strong but they really aren't the most composed in battle. And I'm sure if they were to die again on the battlefield, it would lead to the Z-Fighters having a heavy conscious and incredible amount of guilt about it.

It wouldn't matter if he were or not tbh, he's not on Freeza's level. That trailer bit may also be a bit misleading/meant to instill worry or excitement.Z-Dragon wrote:Wait... Huh, that actually is true. The only times we see them sense energy is in filler and the movies. They had to ask Gohan and Piccolo if Buu was dead, too, didn't they?Marco Polo wrote:In the manga they can't sense ki.

But in all honesty...well, honestly...good riddance. xDDD
No, but seriously, Gohan never backed down as a kid no matter how much Chi Chi insisted he stay behind. Goten and Trunks seem even more obstinate, so it makes no sense they'd listen to their moms.

Well to be fair, Chi-Chi and Bulma were both already dead by that point. Plus, shouldn't Goten and Trunks be teens by this point? Even if their mothers objected to letting them fight, it seems weird that they would be so willing to obey them.Kamiccolo9 wrote:Because already over-protective mothers get even more over-protective after their kids die.WittyUsername wrote:Not letting them get involved in the fight doesn't really make sense though. Damn, I liked how this film was going and thought the reasoning to certain events that have just come to light were reasonably sound. Sucks that this film is actually objectively bad and disparaging to the franchise due to Toriyama's incompetence because some people happen to feel contrary to me. Was looking forward to it and everything, didn't even realise it was bad writing.

So a lot of the the complaints were BoG was too goofy, had too many characters, all about the Saiyans etc, so Toriyama takes out 5 of the goofiest characters including TWO Saiyans (Yamcha, Goten, Trunks, Buu, Satan) and people still find room to complain?
Anyway, does anyone think this could be a hint that Toriyama is subtly regretting the Buu arc?
