I think that comparison is a little more questionable. They're somewhat similar, but not almost identical. Besides, they added Gohan.
True, but every time I see it, I think of that Toriyama drawing. They're similar.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

That picture used to be on a line of action figures with the blue box, I think the next generation of toys after the original irwin ones? I can't quite remember but I do know it was used on the box art (it was blue by the way) for a whole line of action figures.

I think it's just one of many early promotional art FUNimation had so they just used it a lot. I remeber seeing that image on almost everything DragonBall that FUNimation put out. That and that horrible looking Super Saiyan Goku with his hands blocking his face.

Sorry I bring nothing to the table. :(

dragonfist, I think the image you're thinking of is just a shinier version of the second pic without the Kaioken aura.

Well his finger, the belt, his hair, the turn of Goku's upper body (along with other details) are all slightly different.

The one I was talking about is exactly the same as the second image, just with the aura removed and it's glossier looking.

Am I the only one who thinks the spine image is completely lame. I mean it is well drawn, but I mean, Goku and Gohan and that's it. Come on. A shot of the whole cast would have been superior.

Considering that DragonBall is by and large about these two characters, I find it fitting.

I have no problem with the concept of the spine image, but I never really liked the new art style that Toriyama(?) decided to use for that particular piece of art. Actually, I kind of dislike his new style in general. That's really a matter of personal taste, though.

Really? I much prefer the new style... Like on the Super Exciting Guides... I'd truthfully like to see Dragonball redone in that style.

Well, to each his own, I guess.

I prefer the old style, which they use on the Budokai games' covers and such.

The new style just looks...awkward.

Is anyone else considering buying two copies of each Dragon Box(If it is nearly as fantastic as the original Boxes)? One to use on the daily basis, and another that will be plastic wrapped forever, just in case they become valuable. Just because major retailers are getting this doesn't mean FUNi can't take it off the shelves after a month. I'm so scared, this is all happening way to damn fast.
Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.

Really?! They just announced the first Dragon Box and it's not coming out until November. We have a little over three months of waiting. I think we have plenty of time.

With any luck it will ship in late October(on RightStuf at least).
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Yeah, it'll fly by for me too really, considering how fast this summer's going, it'll be here in no time.
