No. You're thinking of ASSJ Vegeta, who was a completely different beast compared to SSJ Vegeta, who at that stage was weaker than Kamiccolo and #17, both of whom got stomped by Imperfect Cell (Post Human absorption).

Well, if Vegeta knew he could have beaten Semi-Perfect Cell as a SSJ Vegeta, why did he bother transforming? Maybe he just wanted to be absolutely sure he could beat Cell at that stage, considering he has fallen way down the pecking order in terms of strength once #16, #17, #18, Imperfect Cell and Kamiccolo debuted.

Or maybe he just wanted to showoff. Which would be very much in-character for Vegeta.

That is a significant leap in strength no matter what way you look at. Without ASSJ, Vegeta gets his ass kicked Imperfect Cell (Post human absorption).

It wasn't what I'd call a roflstomp. Vegeta could barely tank a punch from Semi-Perfect when full power and Cell thought he could take him on before powering up.
