Hmm... I wonder what the chance is of this dub actually acknowledging that Kami-sama is a god or even occasionally referring to him as such?

I doubt it. They'll probably stick with "Guardian of Earth".

But I don't really have a problem with that, though I would have rather they used something better than "Guardian" since he does no real guarding.

Like maybe "Overseer" or something

Well, based solely off this trailer I am intrigued but I will have to see more before I decide to invest another couple hundred bucks on Z, as they are not even done with the dragonboxes yet.

One voice I definitely hope they change is Recoome. Jesus, Sabat's version was awful. I just recently re watched the episodes with the ocean dub and at least that guy made an effort to sound menacing while still being somewhat comedic. Sabat just sounds straight up retarded. And I actually like some of Sabat's other voices.

Agreed. Even if Mr. Sabat himself is still voicing the character, I hope it gets tweaked so that the character doesn't sound so... "special" anymore. The Ginyu Force as a whole are overconfident goofballs, but they're not outright idiots.

Sabat himself found that the more he did the voice, the more offensive it got.

and as for God vs Guardian of Earth. It has been mentioned that the audio will differ somewhat from TV to Uncut DVD, so I imagine he might be called Guardian of the Earth/Kami for edited tv, and God for uncut.

Yeah, if this is getting the "One Piece treatment" as suspected, then FUNi may pull something similar to what they did with Eneru for TV as opposed to the uncut version.

No, but in one episode of FUNi's dub, they had Mr Popo call him "Kami-san". :?

In Kai? Or are you referring that the old Ocean dub scene when Piccolo and Kami die?

Haha, that always reminds me of the DBZ Uncensored page for that episode: "If you're gonna start pulling Japanese honorifics out of your ass all of a sudden, why not do it right and call him -sama?!" Eh, I'm paraphrasing.

Yeah I remember that. :P

Another example of Japanese misuse in the Ocean dub is when Goku says: "It's not Kung-Fu, it's the Kame Sen'nin style of fighting".

To be fair, they were pretty close except it would be Kame Senryu (Turtle Sage School) style of fighting instead or Kame Sen'nin (Turtle Sage Person) style of fighting.

He said it to the oni that drove him onto Snake Road.

I remember being super shocked when he said that. Did they keep that line in the UUC edition?

"Ryu" can mean both "style" and "school" when we're referring to disciplines such as martial arts. So yeah, it could be Kame-Sen style.

Yes they did. I've watched those episodes enough times to know.

Hmm, I could have sworn I checked that line on my Dragon Box to see if it still existed and ended up being disappointed, but I went back to prove you wrong just this second... and, what do you know, you're right! Sean Schemmel's Goku does refer to the "Kamesennin style of martial arts" just like Ian Corlett did. Alright, I defer to you, good sir.

Oh, really? I just assumed, sorry.
