Goku vs Beerus on King Kai's in the movie is mercifully and perfectly short, it serves a narrative purpose to show Goku being cocky which comes into play throughout the rest of the movie and its actually well animated. The Super version sort of expanded on the pride angle by having Goku underestimate Beerus by using inferior forms but it lasts too long, him using weaker forms is trying to expand on an idea nothing after explores at all and its badly animated.

Beerus vs the Z-fighters was eh in both but at least BoG had them get taken out in better ways than the classic Z repeating animation punches and then being forced back by Beerus' invisible ass fart. The chop stick part with Piccolo alone is better than the Super version.

Vegeta's fight is once again longer but the setup for it was completely laughable. Bulma getting slapped and Vegeta's reaction to it was so completely over the top I was fucking floored through like half the fight. Then it threw in that 10% line which makes me sick to my stomach with the way all the fanboys are exaggerating it as LAWL RAGITUH > SSJ3 VEGETTO C0NFIRMZED!

Then there's Goku vs Beerus: total garbage.

First, Goku's transformation makes a lot more sense in the movie. Its treated like any other transformation, once you activate it, you get the peak amount of power the form gives you and then it drops the more you use it during battle or from injuries. In Super its.... randomly growing and giving Goku more and more reserves out of nowhere to drag things out more.

The feat is completely wasted here just the same as making Vegeta a planet buster in his first serious fight was a waste in the Saiyan arc. What's supposed to impress me after this exactly? The entire multiverse dying from a God clash? Why not save this for something like the final battle or one of the late series fights?

The movie also had better locales from cities to forests to wastelands to the underground and finally space. Super took place in the two most boring locations possible, in the middle of nowhere over the ocean and then half of it was in space. The dialogue in the movie also served the purpose of reinforcing the theme of pride and where Goku & Vegeta are in relation to one another at this point in the story. Super is basically "BEERUS-SAMA!" and "SUPA SAIYAJIN GODDO!" Riveting shit, they must've hired Broly to write this.
1. Using more forms was a really cool idea, but the fight was so garbage that I'd rather they not bother with SSJ/SSJ2. Hell SSJ/SSJ2 was basically the same thing when Goku fought in those forms. Like a copy paste fight.

2. Agreed. Also gotta mention the Gohan 86 moment.

3. All of that. It no longer feels like a quick snap any more. It's like funimation had that stupid internal monologuing instead of being silent. The 10% crap was when I said fuck DBS power levels, they now run on DBS Logic just like GT has GT Logic.

4. The thing that pissed me off most about Beerus vs Goku was the stupid dragon shit which I kept laughing at. Oh my god Beerus and Goku released their stands "Rock the Dragon" and "Dragon God". Even more silly was Goku healing himself? What was that all about? If both these come back I may change my mind, but otherwise they feel so out of place.
I am forever headcannoning Goku's ki dragon as "Rock the Dragon" from now on
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

When BoG was announced I was incredibly happy, a real sequel of my favourite anime was being made. Then I watched it and I kinda liked it, but I didn't like too much the whole "God" concept, but it was better than nothing. RoF was way worse in my opinion, the plot holes were huge, but I still didn't hate it. At least DB was going on.
Then Super was announced and I was super hyped! I had always wanted to see adult goten and trunks fighting, along with Ub and Pan super saiyan.

Then it started airing and we all understood it was just a retelling of BoG and RoF + 1 or more new arcs. I was a little disappointed but still happy because it could have told the BoG and especially RoF better, but it didn't! While BoG was done a little bit better in my opinion ( apart from the animation + Gregory who shouldn't exist and some other things), but surely not much better, the RoF arc is still stupid. Why didn't at least Piccolo go get Sorbet? How could they leave all the dragon balls in the wild? How can Freeza get so strong in 4 months? Why didn't Goten and Trunks go fight with the others? SSJ3 Gotenks is way stronger than anyone else in that group! And they are even rushing the RoF arc? WTF?

DB Super failed at everything for me... Incredibily boring and childish, rushed in some parts, too slow and uninteresting in others, too stupid in most of the parts.
I will keep watching it because it's DB, hoping that the next arc will be better. At least I like Whis, it's kind of mysterious and his power is inimaginable. Really hoping Goku will get that strong. Maybe we'll find out more about him.

I don't like the Super concept, but I love the whole GT concept, even though I didn't like what they did with it (very stupid and often boring. I didn't like child goku).
Super is still better than GT though.
But I don't like the whole God concept, so I'd have preferred a GT-like Z continuation ( with adult trunks, goten, etc, vegeta finally reaching SSJ3, a better SSJ4 transformation, Gohan still useful, along with Trunks and Goten capable of going SSJ3 by their own, Pan SSJ, etc), or, hell, even a GT sequel instead of DB Super ( but there is at least DB Absalon and DB AF manga for that and Multiverse for Z-continuation). But maybe I'm just too old for DB, since its target are childern and I'm just a 20 yo fan boy who likes to dream about how DB could have been awesome if it was done for adults, with a darker tone and more serious battles.

I really hope it gets better in the new arcs, but for now Dragon Ball ended with chapter 519 for me.

I know DB because i watching one day by accident an episode of DBGT. And when i see DBS, i'm sure that the real continuation of DBZ was DBGT, not DBS. DBS is not bad but still so far to DB world...
Please understand: it's my first time on an english board about DB & i have a very very bad english!! thanks

DBS is fine. The pace is actually very good.

I only wanted this to beat the horrible DBGT. DBS did that already. Mission accomplished.

If you judge Super by the manga alone, it's really an excellent product. The artwork is very similar to Toriyama's, there's great detail to every panel. A majority of the content is new and funny, and avoids rehashing the gags made by the movies/show.

Yesterday I read all the manga chapter available and I have to say you are totally right. The manga is great, and I'm considering to put it in my personal "canon" ( Jaco Manga - DB Manga - DBS Manga). Also, I saw that Kibitoshin defused, so that instantly made GT non canon or set in another universe created because of Trunks time travelling ( not that there were doubts about it  ).

I have a great hype for the new arc!

It's a very tragic show, imo.

Compared to DB, DBZ, DB Kai, GT, and all the movies, DBS is easily the worst Dragon Ball-related animation ever, tbh.

It made me lose all interest in new DB material.

I disagree. The Manga was all over the place with the BoG arc and unlike Super, the SS3 vs Beerus was exactly the same as the movie. The Champa arc is better, but so far it has been a big exposition dump especially the first chapter, not to mention the random changing of SSGSS to SSB causing more confusion. You can tell it is a promo Manga and nothing else.

I'm not sure "all over the place" is the right phrasing. It's short, and to the point. With Champa, it's a huge new story being introduced so the exposition dump is necessary. But even that includes an interesting battle (Beerus v. Champa), so it's not boring.

As for SSJBlue coming out of nowhere, that may end up the same as the Super anime/RoF movie.

Worse than Bio-Broly...?! :wtf:

Wow...

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

I like Bio Broly more. It sucks. But it's just a side adventure with characters who barely do anything otherwise.

Dragon Ball Super is a mockery to all my favorite characters.
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

But in being short most of the humour from the BoG was gone, if I remember correctly we went from Beerus about to arrive to Earth to Beerus suddenly moping the floor with everyone, thus missing the best bit (imo) of the BoG arc. Yeah I agree the second chapter handled the exposition dumping much better, while SSB may be used in Super anime it still isn't elsewhere the recent scan of Goku and Vegeta joining some video game referred to it as SSGSS, not to mention the Manga had Goku and Vegeta refer to their new form as SSGSS by name, where this wasn't the case in the movie where they simply called it Super Saiyan, which leads me to think this a Toyotaro thing, I mean he has done things in the Manga differently to the anime already so I am iffy on this.

I have mixed feelings about DBS. While it's fantastic there's a new Dragon Ball series. It somehow feels there's a lot of wasted potential.

I'm enjoying following the writers. I realize with the animation things can't be helped due to the schedule, but the writers have a larger time frame to work in and I like seeing their individual writing quirks.

If people think the fighting choreography in Super is Superior to Z..then god be with you. Not once have I been impressed with any sort of the fighting in Super. The combat in GT was on rival with Z too. I guess action-junkies see the large change. If you weren't so keen on the battles then i guess it wouldn't bother you.

I really want to know why they skipped out on Gotenks going Super Saiyan 3 in the anime. :/ In Dragon Ball Chou we clearly saw it so...Toei must have knew.

They know it isn't but they don't want to admit it because it's part of a franchise they love which is understandable for me cause that's what I was doing at 1st but now it's to the point where even a die hard fan like myself can't keep looking past it's mediocrity and this is coming from someone who loves the new movies so it's not because I've outgrown the franchise like what some claim when defending Super.

They probably didn't want to animate the hair.

Exactly. I'm a total Dragon Ball Fan boy but I can see the drop in quality and i won't hide what i truly feel. The two new movies were really incredible in terms of choreography. I just find it ignorant when people defend Super so much and say it's better than Z. I even consider GT to be better than Super.

Figures. This is what I mean. It's quite ridiculous. They never had a problem animating the hair in the past but now...pfft.

Gt's story may be a mess but it's animation and soundtrack are incredible which can't be said about Super's.

DB&Z's treatment was on a different level back in the day,so much so that Z in particular still holds up to modern anime even though it's been 20 years since it ended.

The reason for this is because each episode got 3500 drawings compared to the majority of other anime which get 2500-3000 so the animators didn't have to compromise anything like they do now.

Toie's best work on the franchise was during the Buu arc cause not only did it have the best animation but they didn't have much fighting material to work with due to how short the fights were in the manga which meant they had to do double the work the did before so for it to have great animation and fights just shows how talented the animators were back in the day and why DBZ is the anime classic that it is,sure it had a lot of filler (which Kai took care of) but the wait for the fights was always worth it.

Especially during the battles. Goku had some really epic lines as a SSJ4. Dan Dan kokoro hikareteku being one of my all time favorite pieces of Dragon Ball Music.

Yeah but I just think older animation had a nicer touch. The same could be said with Naruto. The earlier animation for part 1 and the start of Shippuden had a lot more depth to it than it does now.

So why doesn't Super get 3500 drawings? Is it a time thing. I don't have much knowledge on how the whole process works.

You hit the nail on the head. Still, throughout the entire series we had really entertaining fights. It's amazing when you think about it because even the little ones were nicer than Super. The transformations is another thing. Super only pulled off one decent one in my opinion and that was Vegeta going SSJ2.
