Wow, is that true?? Vegeta really said "a bastard like you"? He seems way too aggressive.Nejishiki wrote:Vegeta: "Mind your own self. Begone. "
Vegeta: "I don't need assistance from a bastard like you."
Piccolo: *onomatopoeia for smirking*
Piccolo: "I see." (Think of a playfully sarcastic tone? Viz retained the personality.)
Of course, if anyone wants to correct my interpretation, feel free.

That's just my interpretation of, "kisama", an aggressive personal pronoun for, "you". Actually, you just reminded me the website has a guide on this. However, it's just typical Vegeta prose. I believe the Funimation dub has Vegeta calling characters, "punks", on occasion?
EDIT: I would say, "from someone like you" would be just as valid.

Thanks! Do you know where can I get the manga Japanese scans?Nejishiki wrote:That's just my interpretation of, "kisama", an aggressive personal pronoun for, "you". JP Amazon and CDJapan tend to be the trendy choices for both used and new copies of the manga. In fact, now's a perfect time to order the Soshuhen reprints that emulate the styling of Weekly Shonen Jump releases.

Re: it's just a matter of translation
Yeah, Viz has it as "B-but I am the fastest in the universe...!" Individually the words are "U...Universe-One (no) Speed (o) proud of.........!!". Japanese word order is a bit weird if you're used to English.
As a side note, tho, his name's バータ (Berta or however you wish to spell it), not バター (butter).

However, due to Vegeta's influence(?), It looks like (Gogeta's) personality is unintentionally becoming a little bit bad.

The red line was already there when I found the picture. I request a translation for everything in there.

GOGETA:
The fusion of Gokuu and Vegeta is the ultimate warrior. (His) full power and speed is super increasing. However, due to Vegeta's influence(?), It looks like (Gogeta's) personality is unintentionally becoming a little bit bad. The failed Vekuu is extremely weak but...
Actually, I can't decode that last bit
Something about bad personalities.

Re: The All-Purpose "Translation Request" Thread
I did more studying, and I think that last bit is " but the personality is bad characteristic only is the same" or " the only similarity (between Vekuu and Gogeta) is their bad character"
Re: The All-Purpose "Translation Request" Thread
So maybe Gogeta is intended to be more serious due to Vegeta's personality. Interesting! And thanks.
Re: The All-Purpose "Translation Request" Thread
So it has come to my intention that it's first now due to episode 51 of DB Super, that many people have realized it was Trunks who wrote 'Hope' on the time-machine.
This I find odd, but apparently in the Funimation dub, Trunks said Bulma wrote it.
I always had the impression it was Trunks who did, thanks to my localized manga stating that to be the case and I dug up Viz' take on the scene and it agrees with that:

But given how many times I have seen translations not giving clear answers due to the often times frustrating ambiguity of the japanese language, I wanted to see, if this was another of those cases or if it's stated flat out, who wrote it.

Trunks says he wrote it. Simmons mistranslated the line.dbgtFO wrote:So it has come to my intention that it's first now due to episode 51 of DB Super, that many people have realized it was Trunks who wrote 'Hope' on the time-machine.

wanted to know if goku was referring to the world or the planet earth.

Re: The All-Purpose "Translation Request" Thread
Isn't that the same thing? In any case, 地球, the wording Goku used in that panel, refers to Dragon World's earth.
Re: The All-Purpose "Translation Request" Thread
depending on the context, the world can refer to the universe. I want to know is the context, the scan really is referring to the size of the place? If yes then it is as big as the planet earth.Nejishiki wrote:Isn't that the same thing? In any case, 地球, the wording Goku used in that panel, refers to Dragon World's earth.
Re: The All-Purpose "Translation Request" Thread
It's not the whole universe then. It's just the Room of Spirit and Time being as large as good, old planet earth. I honestly haven't heard of a case where someone would phrase the world to refer to an entire universe, but I digress.
