Who cares where a character originated from? If its inclusion is done well it doesn't matter. Freeza comes from super-core canon and look at ROF, his return/revenge/rehissyfit sucked terribly.

Agreed. It's all about execution. There's reason to distrust this regarding Super, based on Jaco, who is from an exterior source and was just shoved down our throats without telling us why he was there. Wait and see what comes of it.

YES! How about if we have now a purple haired Gohan for no reason at all? It's called consistency

See, the thing is, the Brief's family hair color is inconsistent throughout the entire anime adaptation. Bulma's hair has gone from green, to a green-blue combo and now pure blue. If we're REALLY gonna be picky bastards over this, then Path to Power is the only one that gets it right. Hell, even Toriyama flip flopped on her hair color for the manga version.

Of all the things, more worthwhile things, to complain about with Super, I really don't think hair color for an already inconsistent family when it comes to that stuff is worth such heated debate over

Purple haired Gohan would come out of nowhere. Blue haired Trunks doesn't, considering that Bulma's hair is blue and Toriyama always colors Trunks' hair the same as Bulma's in every illustration he does of them together.

Plus, you can always dye your hair

Because he went Super Saiyan instead of Ultimate in trailers, people went nuts. Then they changed it to Ultimate later.

Oh that. Well, I can somewhat get that when Gohan's Ultimate form should make SS non-existent for him but that got fixed. Bulma's hair has been screwed up since time immemorial lol and I don't see anyone scream bloody murder at it being green-ish in Z when its purple. Or scream bloody murder at Toriyama making it purple when it was originally blue.

There's nothing wrong with it, if they explain it. Jaco appeared out of nowhere and we barely got anything telling us how he got such a relationship with Bulma. It's forcing us to read the manga - use the Internet - to know what's going on. To me that's a flaw.

Super and consistency don't go together.

I'm OK with Trunks having Blue hair but I'd like someone to bring it up and him to say his friend Toriyama said he'd look better with Blue hair so he colored it.

I don't think he is one. He has pupils in his eyes instead of one colour. Maybe he can turn into one, but it sounds like he's just a Super Saiyan still.

I may be jumping on to early conclusions but the fact that Trunks' hair is blue now makes the theory that Bulla is actually his daughter with Mai more plausible.

To be fair Bulma's hair that same shade of blue now. Even the flashback to hair as a kid with Jaco looks like that.

3 things about the hair colour:

1) he does have a girlfriend (Mai) and we all know that a girlfriend can force you doing something.
2) he was escaping from this black thing so maybe a disguise
3) Akira like blue more than purple (maybe sells better)

I think it's the fourth.

4)Toriyama always wanted Trunks to have the same hair color than Bulma, and forced Toei to change it now.
His BOG character design for Kid Trunks had blue hair too, but Toei changed it. This time Toei probably wanted to fix it too, but he was like "No,no,no, it's really blue!".

I would like a character in-universe ask him about it, but they probably will just play along it and assume he always had blue hair.
But when Kid Trunks and Future Trunks meet it will be awkward, if they don't point this out. Unless of course, Kid Trunks is conveniently out of picture in this arc.

You can say its a age thing in universe or you can simply accept that its to help him stand apart from kid Trunks. Plus it does suit him better. Those are the only real choices and I doubt it'll be explained in Super.
