To clarify that Google translated quote, since the gist is there but perhaps not very clear: Trunks states that the only way to save the future Earth from the crisis of "Gokuu Black" is to utilize the power of Gokuu and co. Backing up that claim is a notebook addressed to Bulma...!

So perhaps Trunks brought a notebook written by future Bulma to give to past Bulma with her notes about the future situation?

True, idol groups have managed "extreme" ending pieces in other anime to fit their tone. I wouldn't be so quick to assume it'll be too poppy.

The promo stuff has constantly talked like Trunks should know Goku is alive (like saying he'd be going to the past to get Goku's help), but nothing like that has matched the show so far. So, I wouldn't think much about it for now.

Episode's titles and summaries didn't leak this month and I find more thrilling this way. I'm ok with knowing details about the next week's episode but knowing what is going to happen in three or four weeks spoils the plot a lot.

Considering the description we got before any of this started, I'm pretty sure it's going to extent beyond Earth:

It’s the start of a battle that surpasses time and space, and drags in the God of Destruction, Kaiōshin, even the Omni-King! Many mysteries will be revealed!

That and the new Kaioshin-looking guy makes me think there's much more going on here.
