Both Kenshiro and Raoh from Fist of the North Star were featured, so it seems that there was no rule for only one character from each series.

Well, Kinnikuman's thing is that he's the underdog who always manages to come out on top, so he's almost always portrayed as being the weaker person in the fight. Even with the Burning Inner Strength, he stills seems to mostly win through sheer ungodly endurance and perserverance rather than overwhelming strength, the way Goku often does. Still, I agree he should have got a mention...that's a worse omission than Vegeta (sorry SP).

Because people like Luffy's character...he's a joke? Considering it's the top selling Japanese comic of all time (meaning a lot of people read it) and it's been going strong 12 years...he's a joke?

I'd call the guy purposefully doing stupid stuff to that inconviences other's a joke, as opposed to the guy who leads expeditions across the most dangerous of seas...

Luffy is a joke.

Oda made his powers center around rubber and stretchiness because he wanted the fights to be as silly and zany-looking as possible, no matter how serious the situation was, IIRC.

Seriously, anyone of the human characters in Dragonball could take care of rubber band boy. As B stated Luffy is a joke. There is something seriously wrong when fans think he is stronger than Vegeta.

Luffy stopped being a joke with Gear Second.
I think Luffy could give any of the human characters in Dragonball a good fight with the skill he's been showing off lately. He'd still be blown away by any Saiya-jin in seconds, though.

It is a poll taken in Japan, where One Piece is the more popular of the two, (the book sales and TV ratings from Japan prove this) so its only natural that Luffy would be on this list instead of Naruto.

Now if this were a poll taken in the U.S; where Naruto is the more popular of the two, he'd probably be listed on there.

But, I don't follow Naruto anymore and I only casually follow One Piece (of which there are entire arcs that I haven't read yet) so I can't successfully gauge which of the two characters (Luffy or Naruto) are stronger.

I do like Luffy though (not NEARLY as much as I like Goku) so I'm happy he's on there; but I can understand people being upset because a character they like isn't listed on the top five. I'd be upset if Goku weren't listed.

I think you don't really know what you're talking about. Despite Arale's strength being more 'comical' than others (meaning it's to be taken less serious than say Goku's, because Dr.Slump is mainly a gag manga) she still ranks among beings strong enough to destroy planets.

I love Naruto (altough the shitloads of filler in the anime are a drag, so I like the manga a LOT better), but nobody in Narutoverse even comes close to having planetdestroying levels power. Arguably the biggest feet of power was Spoiler Pain blowing up Konoha /Spoiler and while being quite impressive for Narutoverse standards it's not too big a deal when compared to a lot of other Manga's.

So? Naruto still won. Pain was redeemed because of him. Everyone's view toward Naruto has changed a lot. They used to look down on him. In the end, all people of Konaha hail him as a hero. Naruto was able to, seemingly happen all the time, influence strongly on the folks and changed them. There's nothing stronger than this. Naruto has now suprassed Kakashi, Jiraiya, and Fouth Hokage (his father as well). I'm pretty certain that Naruto will prevail against Sasuke in the end. And could Luffy destroy a planet? I dont think so. Why is he still on top 5? Care to explain, anyone?
