Namco Bandai said there were 23 movies. Kotaku said there are "dude's with bad hair." You're mixing up two different quotes. The Tori-bot wrote: There's no way that someone who describes DBZ as "dude's with bad hair punching each other in the sack" would take such obscure movies and specials into account. I'm not sure if I trust Namco Bandai USA, especially given how they treat their Naruto, and One Piece licenses (they've yanked entire story modes from Naruto games for example). Hopefully DragonBall sells well enough so that it doesn't end up being like One Piece, Tales, Klonoa, .hack, etc. where they pick and choose which games to release (and sometimes they won't release games they've published that have English translations done from other releases), and which not to.
I also don't expect to see DragonBall Online here now.
They can't even release Battle Stadium DON either, even though they have the DragonBall, One Piece, and Naruto licenses because they didn't pick up publishing rights for the PS2.

Does it really matter if they cut out the story though...I've personally have seen Dragonball too many times to count. I just want a good fighter with excellent gameplay...a decent story and an epic amount of replay ability. Also so what if we dont get DON...at least now there is hope for a DON2(or something similar for next gen titles)Super Saiyan Prime wrote:I'm not sure if I trust Namco Bandai USA, especially given how they treat their Naruto, and One Piece licenses (they've yanked entire story modes from Naruto games for example). You misunderstand me. Namco Bandai took out an entire story mode from a Naruto game for PSP. All there was, were essentially arcade, and a broken tournament mode. They charged full price for it. Then the next year they release the same game, but this time with the storymode, for full price, and an updated move set. That doesn't bother you in the slightest?SparkyPantsMcGee wrote:Does it really matter if they cut out the story though...I've personally have seen Dragonball too many times to count. And the game content shouldn't change. As the last time Atari fully paid for a game was DragonBall GT: Transformation, in what, 2005, 2006? Since then all Atari did was publish games Namco Bandai published in Japan.

No but they all show up on IMDB or Wikipedia and other such search sites that makes it easy to find.
To be fair doesn't funimation own the rights to all things Dragonball Z in usa and so games they have say? At least I assumed so as it's their cast for voices. So they could say to Bandai "we want story mode and our guys doing it"Super Saiyan Prime wrote:I'm not sure if I trust Namco Bandai USA, especially given how they treat their Naruto, and One Piece licenses (they've yanked entire story modes from Naruto games for example).

FUNimation doesn't do the voice casts for the games. Chris Sabat's Okatron 5000 company does. And no, FUNimation doesn't have much, if any input on the games.SSJmole wrote:To be fair doesn't funimation own the rights to all things Dragonball Z in usa and so games they have say? Chris Sabat has a company? Hm, interesting so he's in charge of the voice direction for most DBZ games?Super Saiyan Prime wrote:FUNimation doesn't do the voice casts for the games. Aro started to laugh. “Ha, ha, ha,” he chuckled.- Actual quote from Twilight
Yeah, he began it about five years ago. He's the producer and director of all DBZ games.NeptuneKai wrote:Chris Sabat has a company? Which explains why the dubbing in the games is so much better as a whole than in the series. Someone like Mr. Sabat, who actually cares, is in charge of the scripting and direction.

No, not really. I'm pretty sure that fell under Barry Watson's watch, but I could be wrong. Sabat only scripted Movie Eight and directed the Boo saga, if I remember correctly.Big Boss wrote:I thought Sabat was in charge of the series direction/scripting, also?SSj Kaboom wrote:Which explains why the dubbing in the games is so much better as a whole than in the series. I question how FUNi was stupid enough to not let him do the whole series; those two right there are the two best examples of the high-point of the dub in both voicing and scripting.JulieYBM wrote:No, not really. As I remember, Watson ran the show until he left to form his own Anime company (which than sank like a boat because he pulled the same crap he did on DBZ). Now that Justin Cook and Carly Hunter took over his and Coconwhathaveyou's jobs their dubs have become a virtual standard in the industry. The Tori-bot wrote:I question how FUNi was stupid enough to not let him do the whole series; those two right there are the two best examples of the high-point of the dub in both voicing and scripting.JulieYBM wrote:No, not really.
