Also yea, Krillin is another one of my favorites.
Especially since he can hang on that long!

Freeza, I love the suave villain. Simmering silent rage, that's the most bad-ass kind of anger to me. Then when he snaps he completely loses his proper demeanor and turns into a spitting mad psychopath. His Deathbeam attack really just fits his personality. Who needs a huge incredibly large "blow up the Earth" KI blast when you can have a barely visible KI thread pierce your opponents vital organs. Like Pegasus and Kuro he ranks in with some of my top favorite villains just because of their jokingly calm and polite demeanor despite them being a complete demon on the battlefield.

Future Trunks. He's like the Kamille Bidan of Dragonball, only cooler and with a sword. Shame the kid version turned out to be such a loser.

I am suddenly reminded about how my 28 year old brother likes Frieza the best just because of his transformations... :)

I resent that remark because... :P

...my favorite character is kid Trunks. Why? He's a little powerhouse, I like his design and outfit, I like his dub and original voices, and he's just plain cool.

Young Goku is my favorite character. He's so powerful, but yet he's so innocent and care-free. He's is the prime example of a shounen character.

That, and SS(J)3 Kid Goku from GT. So much power in such a small package...

The same reasons I like Sylar from Heroes and Mr. Saxon from Doctor Who. They can be completely classy, yet at the flip of a switch turn into your worst nightmare.

Freeza is a BAMF for all the right reasons.

Also, if we're getting into villains here, I have to mention Super Buu. I've only recently realized how much I like this guy, but he's just so fun and unpredictable. Plus, he was the other half of my favorite fight in series history, so that counts for something, me thinks.

As much as I like Kamille (he's great fun, always punching people over trivial things, like saying he has a girl's name), I fail to see the resemblance.

It's hard for me to pick a favorite character for some reason. As much as I like Dragon Ball, I'm not sure I've ever had 1 particular favorite. But if I had to pick, it would probably be between Piccolo and Kuririn.

Kuririn's kind of the underdog, but has a lot of cool moments. He's quick witted, brave (not fearless of course, you have to have fear to be 'brave'), quite inventive in the old days and, in a way, I'd call him the heart of the group.

As for Piccolo, he's always the first to notice something off, or to correct people when they make assumptions. He's a smart warrior and I think is one of the most developed characters in the story.

I think DBGT Trunks is a bit of a geek but DBZ Kid Trunks is just a bit bratty rather than being a loser. In each case, it's actually pretty realistic, I'd say. Future Trunks was still incredibly formal and a bit stiff despite going through all that shit. He also had this "mommy's boy" vibe. It makes sense that if you take away all the hardships that Future Trunks faced, he'd be this sort of dweeby guy and not remotely bad ass at all.

Anyway, the character I most identify with and sympathise with is Vegeta. I love his character development and I love how his character traits are implemented in the show - like when he refuses to hold back on the punching machine (at the tournament before the Buu Saga) and just completely obliterates it. It's interesting how he has this pathos running through almost everything he does - like when he becomes Majin Vegeta to discard his "weak human emotions" which he feels are holding him back, but still loses to Goku who reveals he can go SSJ3. There's something tragic about that even though you should be thinking "You got what you deserved, you bastard".

That said, Goku and Gohan always put a smile on my face. The one catch with Vegeta is that he often just ignores other characters and gives them the silent treatment. While this is in-character, it means that we miss out on hearing how Vegeta would interact with them. When he does offer his opinion (like "This is ridiculous! He was stronger as a child!" about Gohan, verging on breaking the 4th wall) it's always great, but he so often remains silent. Conversely, Gohan and Goku often don't know when to stay quiet so you get to see more of their personality that way. I like how Goku is actually a bit of an ass, like how he'll leave his wife and two kids to fend for themselves because he'd rather train. Put that into a totally realistic drama and Goku would be seen as a total prick. Also how he can almost seem pretty smug - if accidentally - in the way that things seem to just work out for him, or so it seems in comparison to Vegeta. These negative elements of his personality make him more interesting than if he was just "Hey guys, let's train, lol!"

I like Gohan, and by extension Videl, because they can often provide some grounding to the events. Although most of it has "anime-only" written all over it, the arc in which Videl is introduced is enjoyable to me because it plants Gohan into this realistic setting which makes his abilities more amazing than they seem when used against an equally powerful enemy. When fighting Cell, we think nothing of his ability to fly or to shoot out ki blasts. When he teaches Videl to fly, it seems truly amazing. When Goten shows Videl what ki control is all about, by shooting out a little ki blast, Videl is stunned. For me, it makes the whole thing fresh again because you're seeing it from a normal human's point of view.

Hmm. Always preferred kid Trunks to future Trunks myself. And the Cell Games is my least favourite time for Gohan too (the Cell saga in general is probably my least favourite of the series).

Goku.

Represents everything I love in a person plus a bag of chips!

He's pure, innocent, strong-willed, compassionate, carefree...

He influenced me and my life purposes so greatly I can hardly describe...

Oh well, there you have it.

The farmer with the shotgun of course. C'mon, this guy practically is Dragonball Z. If not for him, who else would've made Radditz look so badass when he was introduced?

No, but seriously, #18 is awesome. She's the only female fighter in the entire Dragonball universe that can keep up with a Super Saiyajin.

And she's hot.

5. Krillin, the comic relief who somehow made a difference for awhile.

4. Goku, Mr. Perfect, always running off to save everybody.

3. Future Trunks, he saved post Frieza DBZ. (too bad about the Buu saga)

2. Frieza, the moment he caused Goku to go SSJ, he became the best villain ever.

1. Vegeta, the only character who seemed to realize how BAD ASS they all were.

I can't believe nobody mentioned him up till now. Trying to take a Saiyajin on with just a shotgun took balls.

Vegeta. He had great character development. His rivalry with goku was brilliant. He wasn't perfect, by that i mean goku and Gohan and even piccolo from frieza + all seemed to be the perfect "lets stop evil" good guys, Vegeta was very flawed and so easier to relate to.

Exactly. It's like how if the Beatles didn't do drugs, their music wouldn't have been as good, and wouldn't be as cherished as it is today. That's why I don't like the kid version of Trunks. It's like listening to a Beatles record that was masterminded while they were drinking iced tea instead of tripping out.

Future Trunks is all about the despair though, that's why he's like Kamille in my opinion. The comparison is most blatantly obvious when keeping Kamille in mind while watching the Trunks special. It becomes less obvious later on because Trunks helps play a part in turning the world into sunshine and rainbows while Kamille pretty much ends up in ultimate despair.

See my signature, basically. Those four in no particular order.

Future Trunks:
When in battle with a huge threat, he doesn't hesitate to kill his opponent, unlike Goku, Vegeta and even Gohan(vs. Cell). Out of battle he's kind of shy yet cool. His flaw is that he is inexperienced, but that doesn't mean he's not intelligent.

Tenshinhan:
The third eye thing is awesome. This guy is kind of like the Trunks of the early parts of the series. Clever and talented in battle, doesn't fool around. (although, Volleyball...) Highly underused. I'm sure he could've mastered Kaioken if he tried.

Butta/Burter/Baata/however you want to spell it:
He's BLUE and he's FAST! Is it surprising that I'm a huge fan of the Road Runner cartoon character? Yet on the other hand I don't like Sonic the Hedgehog at all... anyway, I just love Butta's design. He actually looks like a monster yet humanoid, and being that fast despite his size is just awesome.
Trivia: Butta's the first on the Ginyu team to actually touch a Dragon Ball! What a badass moment indeed, when he collects that ball so fast that he returns BEFORE Vegeta & co. even catch on.

Dabura:
Another example of a character whose design I like a lot. He's just a much cooler villain than Buu, in my opinion. Sure, his personality is unoriginal (up until the point where he rebels against Buu, which is awesome) but at least he doesn't have the cheap regeneration thing going on. I think he deserved a bit more screentime.
Usually goes by "Kevtrev" elsewhere online.
Draws comics that may or may not have been blatantly inspired by Akira Toriyama's manga.

Mirai no Gohan, he's the more bad ass, heroic and overall perfect as the sole Z-Senshi. He is far more mature than any versions of Gohan and posses excellent moves in Sparkling Meteor.

Vegeta has to be my favourite character. I actually really disliked him in the beginning for being arrogant and self centered, but I love how his character evolves from being a ruthless killer into someone who actually ended up caring for other people besides himself. At times I still think he's an idiot for the types of selfish decisions he makes, but you gotta love him for it. :D
