Now a Dragon Box on the other hand, that would warrant a repurchasing...
Thanks, I will hold off on the blue bricks. I know that when the orange bricks were released the colors were not presented in a way that was originally intended. Does the same hold true for the Dragonball remastered? Do I get the original video quality and coloring with the 2-disc saga sets?

Neither has the severity of the Z bricks. If the 2-disc sets are consistent with the other singles of the time, then the saturation was pushed a bit into the blue spectrum. The blue bricks also have some color tinkering going on, but, again, not to the same ridiculous standards as the orange bricks.

EDIT: Oh, and as for video quality, like I said before, the blue bricks are a much better encode. The 2-disc sets were cramming the content in, so there's some artifacting. It's nothing that's ever kept me from enjoying the show, especially not when I found one for 8.95. Like I said before, it's just my opinion that, while better in some ways, I don't necessarily think it's worth rebuying the series in blue brick form if you already own the 2-discs, especially depending on how you feel about the likelihood of a Dragon Box release.

And I know others would disagree with me but the English-only title cards and credits are also keeping me from wanting to get the blue bricks, a problem the 2-disc sets don't have.

I agree that unless there were some drastic, unforseen bonuses, a Dragon Box release of Dragon Ball would only be moderately better than the blue bricks. But as for GT... The green bricks aren't too shabby but I'd still snatch up a DBox release of that in an instant.

Especially if they decided to re-dub it. ...not that it would happen, but still...

Why? Nothing's wrong with the GT dub. It's pretty accurate and doesn't add stupid dialogue like the Z dub.

But DB or GT are still not as accurate as the westwood media dubs, so a redub would be nice(especially if it's on the same level as kai)

I'm just thinking aloud here but assuming they do release the DB and GT Dragon Boxes after the Z sets are done, what are the chances they'll try to sell them again in Blu-ray sets?

Knowing FUNi I wouldn't be surprised in the least.

But they're not that inaccurate (like Z), to warrant a redub.

There is one stupid line I remember that gets me every time, when Goku first gets shrunk by the dragon, he says:

"So, uh, do I have to go back to school now?"

That line makes me cringe whenever I hear it, I mean, it makes no sense at all. Did Goku even go to school before?

I know it's only one line, but they could have done better.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Sure you can. :)

First off, while most of the sets' problems are shared among all three series, there's a few technical video things specifically related to the GT bricks that kinda stand out compared to the DB ones which, in my eyes, give it more potential for improvement via a DragonBox release.

There's the video footage itself. It's more blurred than the blue DB sets (though IMO this is only even noticeable if you're actually looking for it), but it's also interlaced, whereas both the DB and Z sets are progressive.

But then there's things like the replaced titles and logos on the footage. Most of these problems stem from a big past issue; out of all three series, GT was the one which suffered the most from an attempt to make it "hardcore." That means that when watching the original Japanese version (or even the dub with the Japanese music), the grungy-looking replaced logos and title cards stick out like a sore thumb against GT's otherwise happy, peppy atmosphere (even during its more dramatic and high-stakes portions).

FUNimation never tried to do this with DragonBall. From the beginning, they used things like the original music and titles. Even though the script wasn't always top-notch, the DB dub itself never tried to exude a different atmosphere from the original. Unlike GT.

So long story short, a GT DragonBox release done in the same vein as FUNi's Z ones would allow me to watch the Japanese version not only in potentially the best video quality around, but with zero interference from FUNi's past mistakes with its dub and initial release. Even if I feel like switching over to the dub once in a while, there won't be things like the obnoxious "hardcore" title cards and what-not to ruin the atmosphere. It's a matter of purifying the overall experience.

The narrator and his LAST TIME ON GEEEEEEEEEE TEEEEEEEEEEEE is really annoying too, especially when you get past episode 16 and he suddenly gets a lot worse because they did those episodes last.

Overall, though I've still never seen the entirety of GT (I only recently found out it had a Budokai in it), it looks like some episodes have really accurate scripts and other ones have extremely horrid ones.
