Me likey!

This is nothing but good news for all parties involved. Nicktoons, FUNimation, Toei, CW4Kids, and especially the viewers and fans who are making this possible and finally getting a more proper representation of one of the most solid anime franchises out there.

I mean, it's a show from the 1980s, setting network ratings records even today!
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Ah, some good news although I wasn't expecting Dragonball Z Kai to do poorly in the ratings.

I'm sure they're to busy airing more EXTREME live action show and screwing around with their own schedule to notice.

Wait, Cartoon Network America has live action shows? But it's Cartoon Network for pete's sake. Talk about false marketing.

I'm glan CN Australia doesn't do this.

Unless I'm mistaken, Funi's blog put up a bit more info:

http://blog.funimation.com/2010/06/nick ... 0-ratings/

"Nickelodeon also shared with us and animation press outlets some addition information:

“Additionally, Nicktoons also posted its highest-rated and most-watched May with total viewers (+18%), kids 6-11 (+33% in rating), boys 6-11 (+27% in delivery), tweens 9-14 (+32% in delivery) and boys 9-14 (+25% in rating). Nicktoons record performance was driven by the premiere of Dragon Ball Z Kai (Monday, May 24, 8 – 9 p.m. ET), which set a new record as the highest-rated series premiere in the network’s history with total viewers (record previously held by Wolverine and The X-Men, January 23, 2009), tweens 9-14 and boys 9-14 (record previously held by Iron Man: Armored Adventures, April 24, 2009). During its premiere week, Dragon Ball Z Kai posted high double- and triple-digit increases over last year’s like time period with it key demos, kids 6-11 (+71%); boys 6-11 (+122%); tweens 9-14 (+150%); boys 9-14 and total viewers (+144%).”

Awesome."

Who from FUNimation should I try to contact in order to voice my opinion that Yu Yu Hakusho and One Piece should air alongside Kai and Avatar: The Last Airbender? Their inclusion just makes perfect sense to me given that they're both FUNimation properties and would contribute to the already massive viewership, YYH already has an edited dub ready to air, and One Piece already has a batch of edited episodes from it's extended airing on Cartoon Network in Australia. I suspect the rest wouldn't be a very taxing editing job at all considering One Piece is primarily a children's series marring some blood and tobacco/alcohol references.

They've been doing that here for years and it's fucking rage-inducing.

But I'm a bit of an extremist when it comes to CN. I don't even want to see live-action commercials on that channel.

Actually, after the show was canceled in the US, the extra episodes that aired out here were uncut.

Shows that Dragonball is still a force in the US. One Piece should be next.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Maybe Nicktoons will be changing for the better in the future.

I did recently hear that from end of this year/beginning of next year they shall have Power Rangers on air :S This is on Nicktoons they are saying as well!

Maybe a re-branding of the channel is on the cards for the future? Saban brands are looking to acquire other brands which most likely be shown on Nicktoons as well.

I don't understand either since I read the manga and hated it but to each their own.

This is great news about the ratings of Dragon Ball Kai. Hopefully, this will help out the anime industry. Now YTV I hope you take note of these lovely ratings and bring Dragon Ball Kai to Canada.

The appeal of Dragon Ball and it's story is timeless, a huge part of it's greatness. :D

Pretty much everything.

Maybe you should give it a chance before you judge it. It starts off rather slowly but it picks up a few arcs in. Pretty much everyone I know that likes Dragon Ball likes it and it's considered Dragon Ball's successor. The manga itself outsold Dragon Ball in Japan. So yeah, if DBZ Kai is doing well on Nicktoons I'm sure One Piece will too.
