So it seems this show got the highest ratings of any Nicktoons show for a series premiere. Wow, I am really suprised it did that good. I guess One Piece should be next now!Nicktoons also posted its highest-rated and most-watched May with total viewers (+18%), K6-11 (+33% in rating), B6-11 (+27% in delivery), T9-14 (+32% in delivery) and B9-14 (+25% in rating). Nicktoons record-setting performance was driven by the premiere of Dragon Ball Z Kai(Monday, May 24, 8–9 p.m. ET), which set a new record as the highest-rated series premiere in the network’s history with total viewers, T9-14 and B9-14.

You're damn right that One Piece better be next!
But really, this is great news. I was a bit paranoid that it wouldn't do too well on a network like this but I guess there's nothing to worry about.
Now come on, Nicktoons... Get One Piece... Get One Piece...

It's just like what happned with the original DBZ season 3 on Cartoon Network.
Re: "Dragon Ball Z Kai" Set Records On Nicktoons
I don't think it's fair to assume just based upon these intitial, first week ratings, Nicktoons will want to buy the rest of the FUNimation farm. The first week has the advantages of being both a premier, a 'new' and unknown entity, and double premiers.

Very nice! And here I was uncertain of how well it'd do in the ratings on a harder-to-have-access-to channel like NickToons.

Great news! It's cool to see DBZ on TV again. I watched the first 8 with my little bros. They're loving it.
I was at my grandma's house for a family dinner recently. My little cousin was watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, and during the commercials he was pointing out DBZ Kai saying that he thought it was cool. Then the show came on after Avatar. It was surreal.

It's exciting to me, as a fan of the Japanese version, that this record setting dub crowd will get to watch a version of DBZ that has its proper Japanese music, a good script, and improved voices and acting.

Re: "Dragon Ball Z Kai" Set Records On Nicktoons
Avatar: The Last Airbender? Invader Zim? Spongebob? Rocko's Modern life? All those plus Dragon Ball Z Kai makes Nicktoons the best channel for reruns. If you include Woverine, Iron Man, and Fantastic Four, with Avatar and DBZ Kai, it's also the best channel for action cartoons.LeprikanGT wrote:As it should, have you SEEN any of the other crap shows they have on Nicktoons, its sad really.
But they do have some shitty shows like El Tigre, Speed Racer, and Teenage Robot.
Re: "Dragon Ball Z Kai" Set Records On Nicktoons
I agree with LeprikanGT, NickToons is the pinnacle of quality imbalance as far as programming goes. While I like Wolverine & the X-Men, Iron Man: Armored Adventures and Fantastic 4 are pretty terrible. The other shows Innagadadavida mentioned are pretty funny, but how often do those even play? I haven't seen Invader Zim in ages.
As for Kai's awesome ratings, I couldn't be more happy. The show's an absolute blast, and it looks like it's not going anywhere any time soon!

Re: "Dragon Ball Z Kai" Set Records On Nicktoons
I'm very happy to hear that.
You know I really want One Piece on there, but that possibility isn't really what I'm excited about here. It's just the fact that it has done so well. Which means it will continue to air on there. Unfortunately I don't have Nicktoons Channel myself, but it's great to hear anyway.

Re: "Dragon Ball Z Kai" Set Records On Nicktoons
I predict that if Nicktoons does license One Piece, FUNi will catch up to where they finished up on CN and release the boxset of the new season after Skypiea and some of those episodes on TV.

Re: "Dragon Ball Z Kai" Set Records On Nicktoons
This is great. I doubt they'd get One Piece but if they did I'd want them to start with the Davy Back Fight. Starting at the beginning would take too long to get to where I want to see. Anyway, this is wonderful news for DBZ Kai. Hopefully it'll get a whole new generation into DB.
Re: "Dragon Ball Z Kai" Set Records On Nicktoons
There's a good reason that Nicktoons still airs cartoons from nearly every moment of it's history as a network. And I don't mean that El Tigre garbage.LeprikanGT wrote:As it should, have you SEEN any of the other crap shows they have on Nicktoons, its sad really.
Re: "Dragon Ball Z Kai" Set Records On Nicktoons
Ultimate NickToons line-up:
Dragon Ball Z Kai
Yu Yu Hakusho (There's already an extensively edited 'Broadcast dub' they could use)
One Piece
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Wolverine & the X-Men
Invader Zim
The Fairly OddParents
Danny Phantom
SpongeBob SquarePants
Rugrats
Aaahh!!! Real Monsters
The Angry Beavers
Animaniacs
Pinky and the Brain
Inspector Gadget
Rocko's Modern Life
The Ren & Stimpy Show
Hey Arnold!
Doug
KaBlam!
The Adventures of Pete & Pete
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
I'm sure there are more good shows I'm forgetting about, especially live-action shows. I may edit the list later.

Re: "Dragon Ball Z Kai" Set Records On Nicktoons
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Nicktoons network only show Nicktoons? I mean, maybe that's a silly thing to say, since, for example Cartoon Network no longer exclusively shows cartoons. But a lot of the shows you listed aren't Nicktoons... some of them aren't even Nickelodeon shows at all.
EDIT: I guess it's a silly thing for me to say at all since Kai obviously isn't a Nicktoon or a Nickelodeon show, yet Nicktoons does air it. Mild case of stupidity for me there. But, really, wasn't there a time when Nicktoons showed... you know, Nicktoons?! I can't believe I never thought about this before. In my defense, I hadn't thought much about it at all. But good list. I agree with a lot of it.

Re: "Dragon Ball Z Kai" Set Records On Nicktoons
I'm fairly certain every show I mentioned has been on Nickelodeon/NickToons at some point. The only show I mentioned that never used to be on any past Nickelodeon line-ups was Yu Yu Hakusho, and I mentioned it because it's airing would be plausible due to it being a FUNimation property.
Oh, and because it owns.

Re: "Dragon Ball Z Kai" Set Records On Nicktoons
Like I said, it was a mistake for me to assume that only Nicktoons are on... Nicktoons (as ridiculous as that assumptions sounds), but while the shows you listed may or may not have aired on Nickelodeon, my point does remain that some of those shows were neither Nicktoons or actual Nickelodeon-produced shows. As I said, that point is totally moot, as those aren't at all requirements for being on this network, but it is true.KKZ wrote:I'm fairly certain every show I mentioned has been on Nickelodeon/NickToons at some point.
