Agreed. The problem with so many bloated franchises today is that they just don't know when to end, or, more specifically, that those holding the reigns continue to love to beat a dead horse hoping that its spastic twitching might cause more money to rain down from the sky.

Exactly. If they made a new series (or a new special) Goku and Vegeta could fall back into obscurity, like going off somewhere else in the universe to train. Z ended with plenty of characters who have yet to do anything too substantial.

-Uub was handed the torch of being Earth's new protector by Goku himself, and could be the new lead character, and Pan has potential to be a main protagonist as well.

-Goten and Trunks had zero character development since their introduction (unless you count creating a new character as character development), and have the perfect opportunity to shine. They were only around for about 4 in-universe days in Z (including the epilogue).

-Mr. Buu is a new powerful ally who has yet to be properly used outside of ONE battle.

I think that alone would make for a decent new main cast of protagonists.

Not only that, but Krillin and Tenshinhan starting up Martial Arts schools has already been established as a possible side plot.

Still, that's not to say that there hasn't already been enough material created, or that something like this would be in any way necessary.

My sequel/spin-off ideas would be to have a maxi-series of some kind, meaning a planned out series of 26 or 52 eps (probably 52) that knows it's going to end once it reaches episode 26/52.

Series Plot: Something to do with bringing peace to the Demon Realm, which Kaioshin decided to attempt since, having fused with Kibito and since Dabura is dead, he should have had no problems getting it under control. Some new big bad (preferably a Makaioshin) stomps him, so Goku and co go there to save him. Demon/Makaioshin is light years beyond Boo, he just never bothered to leave the Demon Realm because he liked how it was the only purely chaotic realm in the Cosmos, which he likes. After that story arc, we learn through Ro Kaioshin that there are other realms like Kaioshinkai "orbiting" the Cosmos filled with people much stronger than Boo ever was, which makes our heroes want to visit them. On their journeys, they discover the other realms are under the control of some super big bad, who poses a threat to Kaiosinkai and the Cosmos. Series ends when they defeat him.

I don't believe another Dragonball series will ever be necessary or needed. However, it was nice to get that Jump Tour Special after so many years with no new Dragonball features being released. Lupin III had a new movie every year for a long, long time after the series ended. I would love to see a classic series like Dragonball start to get new features periodically. I really enjoyed the last one, and believe many side stories could be told in this manner.

Anything is possible, but this is really the only thing I see as plausible.

Agreed. If Toei is going to make a new DB movie or OVA, it's going to be hard for them to think up a halfway decent and interesting plot, like the JSAT special.

I got it!! Since Dragon Ball Online is Toriyama's work, why don't we adapt it as a anime series called Dragon Ball: The Next Generation since Dragon Ball GT is "classified" in a alternate universe.
