Oh my God, what is going on with that last screen shot?

Huh, Vegeta looks pretty scary there. I think that expression would have been effective back in the Saiyan arc, works well for a villain.

And lol at jjgp's hilariously awful image of Goku from 169.

Either the announcer was meant to be behind with the camera man, or Mark got exposed to gamma radiation.

In a nut shell... most anything drawn by Uchiyama Masayuki. I know that isn't what's being asked, but you can pick one of the episodes where he's the animation supervisor.

I just wanna make sure people aren't confusing bad ANIMATION with bad ARTWORK. I know the two usually come hand-in-hand...and it's not that big of a deal I guess. It's just a personal pet-peeve... >.>

I'm surprised at the amount of Cell arc stuff. I feel like I remember some really bad animation days during the Goku vs Freeza battle.

I think the driving episode was pretty awful, I don't have any screen shots on hand, but one minute Goku is a muscle-bound freak with a long neck and short arms, the next he's tiny! Chibi-fied!

I have no idea what I'd do without you Hujo. If you ever get the time you should do a run down of artists that worked on the Dragonball anime and their styles for your website. I think that would be pretty cool.

Oh, I'm working on it. It's something I've wanted to do for years, and something everyone is always curious about.

That Yamucha and Tenshinhan shot looks really well drawn to me... what's the problem with it?

What? I always thought Uchiyama Masayuki was pretty good. I always considered him to be second-best: the "good" team, not the "great" team. And I'm always reminded of the Kai episode summary that had Maeda Minoru's episode and Uchiyama Masayuki's episode put together:

"In the end, Maeda Minoru will always get my vote as one of the best animators in the series! Not to say that Uchiyama Masayuki is bad, but come on. I mean, there's a reason why Maeda Minoru was the chief animator for both DragonBall and DragonBall Z."

At any rate, when I think bad, I think Ebisawa Yukio or Seigasha, Takeuchi Tomeyoshi's studio.

Masayuki Uchiyama's drawings are slightly off-rated. But anyway, I like Akira Toriyama's designs better. I don't even remember who designed SSJ4.

Oh yeah, Ebisawa Yukio is bad! I was saving him for later discussion, but he's probably my least favorite, although there are points when Uchiyama Masayuki is just as bad. Maeda Minoru is one of my favorites, but no one really compares except for a select few. I need to go through and come up with a list at some point. I have a mental one going, but that doesn't get me too far sometimes... and having a guide on the site would come in handy for situations like this...

Well who wouldn't like Toriyama's designs better? But that's not what is being discussed in this thread. We're talking about the animation side of things. Oh, and Nakatsuru Katsuyoshi designed SSJ4.
