Dragonball Z Kai - Season One Part Two Trailer
Re: Dragonball Z Kai - Season One Part Two Trailer
I'd argue their set up with One Piece at least makes a shred of sense. Their Season One covers the first fifty-three episodes (ending the Loguetown arc and all of the canon East Blue story arcs). Their Season Two covers #54-143 (the entire Baroque Works arc, covering the Apis arc that opens the season and the thirteen episodes of filler than end it). Their Season Three seems to be covering all of the Jaya and Skypiea arc as well (#144-195, maybe up through #206 to cover the G8 arc). FUNimation's seasons have never really made any sense to me.

I'm confused... You say you'd "argue their set up with One Piece at least makes a shred of sense", but then say "FUNimation's seasons have never really made any sense to me". So which is it? Does it make sense, or doesn't it?JulieYBM wrote:I'd argue their set up with One Piece at least makes a shred of sense. Erratum: "FUNimation's Dragon Ball Z season sets seasons." :p
Re: Dragonball Z Kai - Season One Part Two Trailer
Somehow, I get the feeling FUNimation is using this "season" titling as opposed to "Blah Blah Saga/Arc" to appeal to a more mainstream audience. Maybe they think casual viewers will be more likely to buy something that has "seasons" like a Western TV show, I dunno. The only problem is, most long anime don't really lend themselves to such an arrangement too well (as illustrated by the gigantic One Piece seasons.)

They're not using "Season." If you look at the text in the video "Season" is nowhere to be found. The only person to use "Season" is the guy who posted the video and started the thread.
Re: Dragonball Z Kai - Season One Part Two Trailer
Yeah, funnily enough Kai seems to be their only property not currently under their 'season' set-up for home videos. When I asked FUNimation they said that the first season was technically the first twenty-six episodes.

I'm not talking about Kai specifically, here.Innagadadavida wrote:They're not using "Season." If you look at the text in the video "Season" is nowhere to be found. The only person to use "Season" is the guy who posted the video and started the thread.

Okay then we will get later episodes 1-26 as Season 1 for 30$ and Season 2 includes episodes 27-52 and so on...JulieYBM wrote:Yeah, funnily enough Kai seems to be their only property not currently under their 'season' set-up for home videos. That means FUNi will re-release this DBZKai series... Good market strategy...
I'll buy Part 2, if amazon.com makes another great deal for 22$ (~15EUR) , because 30€ are to expensive for me at he start of Part 2. So if we wait a little bit we get ~50% off.
The word "KAI" means in the old North Germanic language Frisian "Kämpfer engl. Fighter" respectively "Krieger engl. Warrior"!

And what if they have Chris Ayres redo Freeza's laugh in episode one?! Then I might have to buy the series all over again! >_<

Like I said, they should continue to just worry about the dub they're doing right now. Then when the series is complete, they release a box set with revised dialogue here and there. Seriously there is so much good things going for this dub and FUNI is already going to the trouble of re-dubbing censor-lines, over 9000 etc "consistency" shouldn't be an issue here. Re cast a few characters like Kaio, get SAI-yan in there etc, and we'd be golden. They already went to the trouble of doing "revised" dialogue and recasts in the 291 Z version, so why not for a dub that's actually worth it, not to mention shorter in length?
Re: Dragonball Z Kai - Season One Part Two Trailer
This is exactly why I'm waiting until FUNimation decides to make "DBZK boxsets", not the parts that are out right now.MR.Mark wrote:Like I said, they should continue to just worry about the dub there doing right now. I simply can't wait, plus there's no guarantee that the revised box-set will happen. However, If it does happen I'll definitely double dip for it.
Re: Dragonball Z Kai - Season One Part Two Trailer
I'd say there's a pretty safe bet we get box sets. FUNimation always puts out box sets.

Well, I meant a "revised dialogue with possible recasts" box-set.
Re: Dragonball Z Kai - Season One Part Two Trailer
If any sort of bigger box set release is planned in the future, I think they'll use the same DVDs/Blu-Rays they made and simply repackage them into bigger sets like they've done with other shows. That's what they did with the Yu Yu Hakusho Season sets. So DBZ Kai The Complete First Season would basically be Volumes 1 and 2 put together into one set. It'd make a lot more sense to just have Season 1 end with episode 54, though, instead of splitting it into 2 separate Seasons. Ending Season 1 with Vegeta killing Zarbon isn't really much of a closure compared to ending the entire Planet Namek storyline.

Re: Dragonball Z Kai - Season One Part Two Trailer
If I were you, I wouldn't get my hopes up about recasts for Kai re-releases. The current Kai cast is pretty much set in stone now, unless something unfortunate happens to one of the actors.MR.Mark wrote:Well, I meant a "revised dialogue with possible recasts" box-set.
Re: Dragonball Z Kai - Season One Part Two Trailer
Well, they've done random shit with the Z dub, like Marron being re-dubbed etc, so I won't rule out anything. I'll continue to get the current sets as is, but a man can dream.

Re: Dragonball Z Kai - Season One Part Two Trailer
FUNimation redubbed some voices in Dragon Ball Z Seasons 3 and 4 because they were shit and in need of it. This isn't the case for Dragon Ball Z Kai.MR.Mark wrote:Well, they've done random shit with the Z dub, like Marron being re-dubbed etc, so I won't rule out anything.
