... All the alt-tags are in French. Ok, I can handle that.
... The first page just gives me two forms with stars beside them, and a couple radio buttons. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with that.
Are the subsequent questions in the same not-accessible format?

For me, it guessed Ranma, Conan Edogawa, Kogoro Mouri, Ryoga (after a wrong guess), Akane, Luffy, Tsubasa Ozora, Light Yagami, L, Dr. Agasa, Shen Long, Sonic the Hedgehog, Lupin III. It utterly failed at guessing Cologne from Ranma 1/2, though, even after every try.

That's crazy. I totally freaked out when it guessed Shenlong and Muten Rōshi. I have to try and trick it.
Re: "Akinator" (Online Character Guessing Game)
It actually took it a while to guess Tullece. Hell, it actually guessed Broly first

I've managed to get past his trickery quite a number of times. Try using characters that aren't particularly well-known in English-speaking countries. It may know even the most minor bit character from some semi-popular American TV show, but it won't guess the main characters of ultra-popular Norwegian sitcoms.
(Didn't know Itadakiman either. If you want to try anime characters, try some from series not released outside Japan)

Well, it guessed Captain Tsubasa's main character, and that isn't well known in the US at all.Adamant wrote:I've managed to get past his trickery quite a number of times. No, but he's known to a lot of people who speak decent English and might try an English-language guessing game like this. That's the qualifier. Norwegians may know English quite well, but if you try a character not known outside this country, you've already reduced the total number of people who might possibly but probably didn't have both known the character, known of Akinator AND considered using him in the game to only a couple millions. Hundreds of millions of people know who the Dragonball characters are, hence they'll probably be guessed.

It does seem that the different language versions of the game are each skewed towards characters most familiar to speakers of that language. For instance, using the English version I managed to stump it with Kinnikuman, but using the Japanese version it was able to easily guess even minor Kinnikuman characters like Pentagon or Stecasse King. Conversely, the English version guessed Rod Serling straight away, while the Japanese version couldn't guess him at all.Adamant wrote:I've managed to get past his trickery quite a number of times. Re: "Akinator" (Online Character Guessing Game)
Good ol' Akinator... I managed to stump it a few times (especially regarding historic figures like Napoleon and King Henry III) but I was thinking Spopovitch, and low and behold it got it right.
Akinator is right I'd say 85% of the time. I chose my own figures, sue me.

I beat it with Chaozu. XD
It got terrifyingly close on Wheel of Time characters, though.

I can't believe it. That f***ing genie guessed Farmer with a shotgun on the first guess.

Re: "Akinator" (Online Character Guessing Game)
Huh, so Farmer with a Shotgun is evidently far more well-known than Chaozu.

Same for me. That's just plain freaky. Do you think the details you enter before you play the game have anything to do with it?Eddie wrote:I can't believe it. That f***ing genie guessed Farmer with a shotgun on the first guess.

I don't think so.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:Same for me. That's just plain freaky. Do you think the details you enter before you play the game have anything to do with it?Eddie wrote:I can't believe it. That f***ing genie guessed Farmer with a shotgun on the first guess.
I entered some random datails before playing and it guessed right some characters.
But it asked a lot of restritive questions (he guessed Enishi Yukishiro after asking about white hair, glasses, villains, swords and older sisters, and Klaus Meine after asking about singers, metal, German and hats).
But I was really impressed when guessed right Hisoka and Taiga Kuzumi after making some random generic questions.
Oh, yeah, Dragon Ball. He guessed Piccolo Daimaoh right too.
Sorry, I can't speak English very well, but I'm trying my best.

Re: "Akinator" (Online Character Guessing Game)
Have any of you came across characters that he just didn't know? If you have, did you submit them? I submitted Dr. Frappe & it took less than a day for him to get added. We'll see if he adds my second submission, Sherman Priest.
Re: "Akinator" (Online Character Guessing Game)
I have submitted characters that aren't from Dragonball to Akinator several times. One of them is Argyle from Die Hard.Eddie wrote:Have any of you came across characters that he just didn't know? So it doesn't know everything.
And again, it works like this:
1) You click on an answer to one question
2) Akinator registers it in their database
3) Akinator registers the end result of their questions to the certain character
4) If the character doesn't exist in their database, Akinator links the questions and their answers to the newly created character
So, simply, an old character, like say, Son Goku (who many, many people have thought of already) as hundreds of questions and answers linked to him, with some questions that are the most relevant together with their answers being undertoned (since they are the answers most people answered a clear "yes" to). An example of such questions can be "Is your character from anime", "Is your character an alien", and "Is your character the main character" and lastly "Is your character's hair black".
Akinator also asks questions according to their relevance to the previous questions you have asked.
Simply, if he asks "Is your character from Japan" and you answer "Yes", then the probability of him asking "Is your character from an anime" is really high.
And an character that isn't well known has only a few questions linked to him, making him harder for Akinator to find. This is why unpopular characters like Chao-zu are harder to find.
But the more people searching for the character, the higher is the chance for Akinator to guess right the first time.
Dr. Frappe already existed in the database from the moment you clicked "submit". As you see in my explanation, there are too few questions with answers linked with him for the moment.
But the more you make Akinator find out that it's Dr. Frappe, the more questions will be stored in the database linked to him, and the probability for Akinator to guess right increases.
When I have added characters that didn't exist in the database yet, they were instantly added.

Re: "Akinator" (Online Character Guessing Game)
I was thinking of Katattsu (the father of Piccolo), but he guessed "Kami Sama (DBZ)", "Nail (Dragon Ball Z)", and finally "Guru (Grand Elder)".
