Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
I wonder if this'll have the Japanese title cards and credits?
Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
Probably not. This is just something Funi does. After a while, they combine two boxsets into one larger one. They did it with YYH (the YYH was even literally the same disc, named as the previous sets were in the menus, just a different box <_<), they did it with FMA (though, I haven't picked those up), and now, they're doing it here...though, sooner than I expected.
Doesn't matter to me. I'll probably buy both, and give the separate ones to a friend of mine who likes the series, but has more important things to spend money on, like his fiance, lol.
Yeah, assuming nothing's changed, it shouldn't be a bother. If it's just a convenient repackaging, you can decide which you'd prefer.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
Isn't this like what they did way back with the original single DVDs? I have box-set form of almost all of them and they were once released individually. Still, this sucks! What they did with the old ones was pretty much take the singles, group them together, and add a (thin) box around them. Eh, if that's the case fine, but if it has bonus materials or something, then I'm going to be pissed.
For anyone who thinks they'd go back and change a few dubbing errors, I really, really doubt it.

Considering this is only on Amazon...I think it's just a site-exclusive packaging of the two sets.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
I honestly don't see why everyone's getting upset about this. I mean, first off, is this really a surprise to anybody, especially after combining the GT season sets together? Things get re-released. It happens all the time. Second of all, how does this affect anybody who already owns parts one and two? Here's a hint: don't buy it. You already own it. I know there might be "awesome" new artwork, but try and resist. This is for people who haven't gotten parts one and two. The people who bought on release date had the privilege of owning things before anybody else. Now the people who held out have the privilege of getting a slightly better deal. How is this a novel approach? Sure, maybe it's a bit soon, but, in the grand scheme of releases, why does this matter? If you already own parts one and two, you're already set. If you don't own parts one and two, now you have a choice. And if, for some reason, you have to own every single identical release, and you're annoyed at the timing, then just wait a while. It's not going to be going anywhere.
Do you follow the most comprehensive and entertaining Dragon Ball analysis series on YouTube? If you do, you're smart and awesome and fairly attractive. If not, see what all the fuss is about without even having to leave Kanzenshuu:

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
I never thought of that, I'm hoping that it is just an exclusive. If it is going into stores then it makes no sense. When Dragon Ball GT: The Complete Series came out, it was fine becasue the seasons had been out for a while, but Part Two just came out 2 weeks ago!JulieYBM wrote:Considering this is only on Amazon...I think it's just a site-exclusive packaging of the two sets.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
I think this is just current trend for tv series home releases. Stargate Universe did it with it's first season (two parts, then a box). Naruto is going back and doing it. The thing both Naruto Shippuden and Bleach do is release single DVD's then put those in a boxset a couple months later.
I can't think of any other examples, but it's not that weird I don;t think. Oh! FMA did a second re-release last year, right? It was in 4 boxes, and now two.
The only thing I got for there being 3 Blu-Rays is... typo maybe?

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
I think it's just an Amazon thing. Since they released a Scott Pilgrim vol 1-6 bundle the day Book 6 came out. It was just 1-6 wrapped up or something according to some reviewers. If you really want to see what the reviews said and what it was, here's a link.
http://www.amazon.com/Scott-Pilgrim-Bun ... 365&sr=8-7
I'm guessing these two things are just things Amazon does. FUNi will probably release a 26 episode box set, but I doubt they're stupid enough to do it 2 weeks after part 2 comes out.
Also, there's that Scott Pilgrim box set coming out in November so I don't know why Amazon did this.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
Sounds like it really is just parts one and two, perhaps simply shrink-wrapped together.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
They're probably doing this just to move backstock on those two volumes. The format they are releasing Kai in is good enough and won't exceed ten individual volumes, so there's no need to repackage those discs now. A complete series boxset is to be expected after all of the individual volumes are out, but these are probably just Parts 1 and 2 shrink wrapped together with a price break. If you shopped around you could probably buy both volumes on the cheap for about the same deal. Yeah it's a little sheisty to the people who pre-order or buy in-store during the first week or so of the release, but it's a savvy business move by FUNimation. Two sets in one slipcover with a cheaper price tag is going to rope in a lot of people that wouldn't buy Z Kai anyway.
Anime releases get discounted after a while, it's a guarantee. It's not as popular a hobby as it used to be and these companies get to the point where they need to get their shit off the shelves so they can put newer stuff on there. That's all this is. I know it sucks, I've bought both individual releases of the Z Kai Blu-Rays around $30 a piece. But that's the price you pay if you want to watch new anime DVDs/BDs as soon as they come out.

I asked FUNi about this and they said, "@KingGoku195 re: "Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set"... Looks like they just bundled the Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 sets together & gave it a name."

Or you could order part two through Amazon, and with the weak US dollar save about twenty bucks off the ridiculous pricetag Madman slap on their products. The regions are A and B for the Blu Ray, and 1 and 4 for the dvd.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:Eh, I'll just wait a month or so until part two comes out.Metalwario64 wrote:Sounds like it really is just parts one and two, perhaps simply shrink-wrapped together.
