Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
This is a listing Amazon has for "Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set" on DVD. It's set for release October 12th, with 4 discs. There's also a listing for a Blu-Ray with 3 discs. Is this legit, or Amazon listing random popular search terms again? If it's real, it looks like it's parts one and two of Kai in one set, which would be abnormally early considering part two just came out... Maybe they'll correct some of the few dubbing errors if it's legit? Or perhaps it's a repackaging of discs... Users on FUNimation's forum speculate it may simply be parts one and two shrink-wrapped together.

woooh ...
it is indeed really early for a such "set" ... but early is not enough early for funimation to rip us off ...

The word "KAI" means in the old North Germanic language Frisian "Kämpfer engl. Fighter" respectively "Krieger engl. Warrior"!

Maybe it's an edited, dub-only release.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
Looking at the run time, it will be most likely Part 1 and Part 2 in one packaging like GT CSS. NICE! but it's kinda weird to call it "Saiyan Set" because the set goes through episode 1 up to episode 26 and Saiya-Jin arc ends on episode 17 (officially episode 16 but I just don't like the fact that the ending of episode 16 is a cliffhanger)

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
Anyway, I really wonder if it's a simple repackaging, or if it will have things "corrected" like Linda Young's laugh in episode 1, or Dende's "brothers and sisters" line. Chances are that if it's legit, then it's a repackaging, but even then it's strange that it's being released a month after part two came out.

Maybe this is just a fake listing like that "Dragon Ball Z Season 1 [Blu-ray]" on Amazon?

Well, I think that's possible, but usually, from what I've seen, fake listings don't have detailed listing information and release dates with the option to pre-order the item.Goku100xKamehameha wrote:Maybe this is just a fake listing like that "Dragon Ball Z Season 1 [Blu-ray]" on Amazon?

So it's supposedly going to be released in 10 days and they still don't have cover art? GOD DAMN IT! Freaking sets! Why didn't they just release that from the beginning?!

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
I know it's marketing, but sometimes if a company screws over its consumers so much, they will lose the faith of that consumer. I understand that people will still buy things from them no matter what, simply because it is what's in demand and they're the only ones supplying it, but every company cares about its image and consumers' perceptions of it. Because while people would still buy from them, nobody would praise it, and it would have that sleazy reputation of screwing over its consumer. What it does affect is any feedback from customers and all that. Whatever, I'm sure they couldn't care less, but it's still so screwed up. It's just so hard to praise them because even when they release something great, they still manage to piss people off one way or another. I can't just stop and say, "thank you" to them, there's always something. Even with the Dragon Boxes, I can't just praise them for it because I am pretty damn certain that they could have gotten them before they released the butchered version of the show. And they're putting such little emphasis on the Dragon Boxes now, that it's almost like, "Oh crap, that's right! Dragon Boxes are coming out at the same time as Kai! I should pre-order those."
Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
This can't be real! Part Two just came out, they can't seriously be re-releasing it already! Come on FUNimation..

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
I just picked up Kai, Volume 2 last night. I had gone back and forth in my head since its release on whether I should pick it up or not because I figured FUNimation might screw us all over by releasing a "Box Set" style edition. Thankfully I haven't opened it yet, and I may not open it until more is known about this set.
Although if FUNimation keeps this up I may have to just quit buying their DVD's and starting getting them by "other means". At this point I don't care if I cost FUNimation money, they've cost me enough.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
Now, I think it could be like the GT Complete Season Set ...
Funi packs Part 1 and Part 2 in a Case with a very cool image on the SPINE ... Maybe the Dragon Ball Z Kai Logo or new "Spine-art" with Goku, Vegeta, Raditz etc. That would be cool so I would wait then until they release Part 3 and Part 4 as such "Freeza-Set" so that would mean that I wont buy the "single" releases of Part 3 and Part 4 ...
Thats Funis weired marketing strategy ??? I would it understand if they make this after the complete releases but I never thought that Funi start NOW with that... CRAZY... But nevertheless somehow I like FUNimation !!!

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
I cannot believe this, here is the description:

There better not be new artwork on this set, this has to be just one and two slapped together. This makes me angry.Twice the Saiyan action at a great price!
The Saiyan Set contans: Dragon Ball Z Kai Parts One & Two
Part One: The last descendants of an evil race of warriors known as the Saiyans are on a collision course with Earth, and Goku the strongest fighter on the planet is all that stands between humanity and extinction. To save his friends and the world he loves, Goku must travel to a realm from which few return, but should he survive, he ll discover the power to face the villainous Saiyan warlord Prince Vegeta.
Part Two: Goku's lies battered and nearly beaten, the Dragon Balls have been destroyed, and a new breed of evil looms on the horizon! Frieza, a violent galactic overlord, has discovered the source of the original Dragon Balls, and he ll eagerly destroy anything to harness their wish-granting power. Meanwhile, Vegeta fully recovered from his humiliating defeat travels to planet Namek on a mission to intercept Frieza and seize the Dragon Balls for own devious desires. With Goku out of commission, courageous young Gohan must journey to the far reaches of space to defeat a foe far more fearsome than anything his father ever encountered. The future depends on it

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
On one hand, waiting seems like a good idea. On the other, if you wait through all the releases you will be missing out on the uncut version of the series, AND well... it is FUNimation, and apparently Dragon Box 2 is already becoming scarce less than a year after its release, so run the risk of those crackheads not continuing the release.
Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Saiyan Set?
This is exactly why I didn't want to start buying DBZKai. Knowing FUNimation, they'll probably release some sort of "Complete Box Set" once the single release has finished.
