Garlic Jr. was in one saga only. Pikkon is in 2 seperate sagas.

Re: Will Paikuhan even be in Kai?
Okay, then. Here's a better analogue. Haiya Dragon, as far as I've been able to tell, is not in Kai. He was in two separate arcs.

*Thinks* When was he shown in the show?
Also, Icarus was a wild pet, Pikkon was a main movie character, and also connected to the show in a filler in which he made finals in a tournament and owned Cell in one kick.

Garlic Jr. arc and the episodes that followed. His last appearance was the driving episode.
And you wouldn't consider Haiya Dragon to be a main character and driving motivation of Gohan in movie 3? And he also has prominent roles in movies 4 and 5. The two are essentially the same in terms of importance. In fact, Haiya Dragon probably has more overall screentime.

He has less screentime than the Haiya Dragon? Ouch.Gaffer Tape wrote:Garlic Jr. arc and the episodes that followed. His last appearance was the driving episode.

Re: Will Paikuhan even be in Kai?
Well, don't necessarily take me for fact on that. I've never seen the Buu arc in the anime, so I have no idea how often Paikuhan shows up there. Just call it an educated guess.

Re: Will Paikuhan even be in Kai?
I think Paikuhan is in #278, "Buu's Assault!! A Conclusion in the Kaioshin Realm" which is coincidentally a Uchiyama episode (with art by Yoshida Tomoko). It looks like the episode after Gokû and Gohan leave the Room of Spirit and Time...which...well...you know.
Re: Will Paikuhan even be in Kai?
As for the great Saiya-man stuff.
I imagine the will have to keep a fair bit of filler, but will probably trim it down by an episode or two.

Re: Will Paikuhan even be in Kai?
That last line is part of the reason why I hope he's taken out of Kai. Eliminating Paikuhan from Kai really doesn't impact the rest of the story in any way -- but leaving some of the filler scenes in create some borderline plot holes in the rest of the story.LeprikanGT wrote:*Thinks* When was he shown in the show?

On the other hand, I hope most of the Saiyaman stuff is left in. I think it's fun and adds a lot to the story and serves as a nice transition between major story arcs.

Re: Will Paikuhan even be in Kai?
Thats what I liked about the Other World stuff. I like when theres 2 things going on at once in different locales and they bob back and forth; plus the closer look at the Kais. So if all that was filler...Does the GRAND Kai not exist?
Re: Will Paikuhan even be in Kai?
The Grand Kai exists, and is named in the manga, but isn't shown visually, from what I recall.LeprikanGT wrote:Thats what I liked about the Other World stuff. Re: Will Paikuhan even be in Kai?
Here's how they're introduced in the manga:
We have our Kaio (Northern), introduced in the Saiya-jin arc.
The next Kaio we see is the Southern Kaio, when Kaio is weight training Goku soon before the 25th Tenkaichi Budoukai.
Then we see Kaioshin (as Shin) at the 25th Tenkaichi Budoukai.
At that point, Piccolo mentions that the Kaioshin are above the four Kaio and their superior, Dai Kaio.

Oh, I guess that was them just giving him an appearance then.Mewzard wrote:The Grand Kai exists, and is named in the manga, but isn't shown visually, from what I recall.LeprikanGT wrote:Thats what I liked about the Other World stuff. Re: Will Paikuhan even be in Kai?
The first time I recall the Dai Kaio being mentioned is by Piccolo, asking if East Kaioshin was him. Which was after his appearance in the anime, iirc...though, the anime might just have taken a while to get there, and I might be wrong.LeprikanGT wrote:Oh, I guess that was them just giving him an appearance then.Mewzard wrote:The Grand Kai exists, and is named in the manga, but isn't shown visually, from what I recall.LeprikanGT wrote:Thats what I liked about the Other World stuff. Re: Will Paikuhan even be in Kai?
Again... see my above post for a user-friendly timeline. But to answer your other question, the start of the Anoyoichi Budoukai was July 28, 1993, while the chapter in the manga was... actually October 11, 1993, so... wow. The anime actually used the character first.Mewzard wrote:The first time I recall the Dai Kaio being mentioned is by Piccolo, asking if East Kaioshin was him. Re: Will Paikuhan even be in Kai?
I guess Toriyama liked the idea so he decided to include it in the manga. Same thing happened with that pink Kaiô (Was it the West one? I never remember...).

He may be a little tricky to remove from the scene in Buu saga, since that's the fight Buu is drawn away from.

What do you mean? I've never seen this in the anime. What happens? How is Paikuhan involved?

Re: Will Paikuhan even be in Kai?
Boo teleports to the afterlife. Kuririn, Yamcha and Kaiô are terrified shitless, and Paikûhan and some other dead guy start talking to the guy, not knowing who he is. Paikûhan even wonders why Boo doesn't have a halo. Then Gokû and Vegeta start powering up, Boo senses them, and teleports to the Kaiô Shin Planet.
