Re: So what makes Broly "Legendary?"
I think that as per the legend, Brolly was the 1,000 year old birth with the natural ability to achieve the form. Also,
if Vegeta's recount from the anime (with the Oozaru part) can be included, then Brolly possibly would be the only one who would have went through the process of transforming into Oozaru then returning to humanoid form afterward. Thus rendering Goku's SSJ4 achievement in DBGT an offshoot of the form. In addition, Brolly is able to keep his speed in his bulkier form (as well as the power) may also be a trait of the LSSJ.
In contrast, while Goku, Vegeta, etc. reach this form, they went about it in slightly different ways. They had to work to reach a level of anger and desire to do so without tails. Even with tails they still would have to work at it, since Brolly may have been born with "angry man syndrome" in the first place. Also, Goku and Vegeta during their training in the ROSAT, could not adapt the bulkier form without the sacrifice of speed. So again they make a slight change from Brolly, by increasing their power while maintaining the body type which allowed them ample speed.

TOEI is what made Broly Legendary, the rest was a brain fart created on a meth overdose.
Re: So what makes Broly "Legendary?"
But with Super Saiyan 3, others can achieve it. With Legendary Super Saiyan, it's Broli's and Broli's alone. I think that by itself makes it a lot more special than Super Saiyan 3, power aside.Piccolo Daimao wrote:There is no "legendary Super Saiyan". Goku never was one. Just because he was the first we saw in the series to do it doesn't make him any different from a regular Super Saiyan--same with Broli. They're just Super Saiyans, just as much as Vegeta, Trunks and Gohan are. Broli's only seen as one because he's a steroid-overdosed nutjob with a mental retardation who beats the fuck out of the Z-Warriors. If you're going to say Broli's "the LSSj" just because he has a special form, then you might as well say Goku is because he has Super Saiyan 3, which is much stronger than LSSj and SSj2.

Re: So what makes Broly "Legendary?"
Who cares if "Legendary Super Saiyan" is unique to Broly if it's even weaker than a top-tier Super Saiyan 2? Kaio-ken went over well enough for Goku... that is, UNTIL he unlocked a stronger and more efficient means of powering-up. That's why it was never mentioned again after having been outclassed by a transformation yielding more power. Strength is everything in the DBU, and LSSJ falls pathetically short when all's said and done.
Re: So what makes Broly "Legendary?"
Well it's possible that his "Legendary Super Saiyan" form isn't its own separate transformation, but a mutation of the current SSJ stage he is using.
So if he were to hypothetically attain Super Saiyan 2 or 3, his unique ability would still add on top of its power; always giving him the advantage over other Saiyans.

Always thought of it like that. So theoretically Broly could obtain LSSJ 2, or even LSSJ 3... but the poor guy never had a chance. He fell victim to the "Kakarot!" syndrome.Son_Gohan wrote:Well it's possible that his "Legendary Super Saiyan" form isn't its own separate transformation, but a mutation of the current SSJ stage he is using.

Re: So what makes Broly "Legendary?"
But again, as I said in my previous post - 'legendary' does not necessarily mean 'strongest', the way a lot of Brolli fans and haters alike seem to think it's intended to. It means that he fulfilled the legend of a Saiyajin born once in 1,000 years with unbelievable power and bloodlust, and was able to achieve that form. Like I suggested, it's possible he is a legendary Super Saiyajin and not necessarily THE Legendary Super Saiyajin. He doesn't have to be the first or the strongest Super Saiyajin - the legend merely states that one warrior of unbelievable power comes along every 1,000 years, and he fulfills that. I see no problem with him being the LSSJ even if he is later outclassed by our plot-armored heroes unlocking even more powerful forms, since they are exceptions the Saiyajin race as a whole never could have imagined. Legends don't always live up to their hype, you know. People need to realize 'legendary' =/= 'strongest' or 'first ever'.Savage68 wrote:Who cares if "Legendary Super Saiyan" is unique to Broly if it's even weaker than a top-tier Super Saiyan 2? Remember people: "Toei" isn't an acronym or anything, so there's no reason to write it in all caps.
Ah, so that's where Bio-Broli comes from.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Unless it is with a Ditto, and even then you only obtain a deformed and less powerful version of him.

Never thought I'd be comparing Broli to a Pokemon, especially not Manaphy and Phione. xD

Re: So what makes Broly "Legendary?"
I think the green ki is from the mind control device that was put on Broly.
I always looked at it like this:
There was a legend of a terrifying Super Saiyan who blew up planets. That legend spoke of Broly. Therefore, Broly is the Legendary Super Saiyan. The "Legendary," as far as I see it, isn't attached to the Super Saiyan transformation, but rather it's the legend OF a Super Saiyan who did what he did.

Re: So what makes Broly "Legendary?"
I think Broly is by far the strongest Saiyan around, under similar circumstances of course.
Let's look at Broly's life and Vegeta's for a second. Living normal Saiyan lives, we see Vegeta is around 18,000. Broly at birth was 10,000. Not to mention SSJ Broly is probably a little bit stronger than MSSJ Goku and of course the LSSJ form dwarfs that.
Now this is Broly's strength just living a normal saiyan life. It's not suggested that he did any special training of any sort, and probably just grew in power ridicolously on his own for no apparent reason. That's what really makes him a legend, his power is god given, he didn't really have to work for it.
So if you took Broly and made him do similar training as Goku and CO. I think Broly's power would be ridicolously stronger than any of theirs. Even Gohan's Elder Kai power up. I think if Broly get's that done to him, he would far exceed Gohan as well.
Being the legendary saiyan should put you well above everyone else in power UNDER SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES, IMO.
I like the genetic mutation as a reason to explain Broly. It sounds good.

Re: So what makes Broly "Legendary?"
I don't know about that. He had green ki even after the mind control device was destroyed. In movie 10 he also has green ki, and you would think any effects of the mind control device, after so many years, would have went away by now (even broly's hair is colored yellow now)TheGreatness25 wrote:I think the green ki is from the mind control device that was put on Broly.
Also, Paragus appears to have green ki, that makes the same noise and effect as Broly's, when he killed his servent.
