I've already heard those two pieces a hundred times in the replacement score version. There are about 90 pieces of music Nagasaki can use. I wonder why he puts the same tracks over and over again in every episode.Puto wrote:Here's a somewhat less terrible one (though still nowhere near as good as the Z scoring for the scene).

I wonder if Nagasaki was only given a portion of the songs as opposed to the entire library.

Gah, this is a tragic misuse of Kikuchi's music. >_<
Re: Japanese DVD Release Has the Kikuchi Score - Confirmed
He seems to have access to only "Dragon Ball Z BGM collection" which includes over 200 tracks. In addition, however, he cannot use mono-mixed tracks and variations of the theme songs for Z, so the number of pieces he can use is probably about 90. To me, it feels like he is using only 15 tracks among them.Puto wrote:I wonder if Nagasaki was only given a portion of the songs as opposed to the entire library.

Yeah...I'm not a big fan of that music selection at all. The tone is all wrong. It seems they're trying to portray the scene as scary when it's supposed to be more of an uplifting moment. Both the original Kikuchi selection and the Yamamoto selection fit the scene perfectly...but the new Kikuchi selection just doesn't cut it here. In my opinion, of course.Puto wrote:Yeah. The song used for the "I am the Super Saiyan, Son Gokū" scene was seriously mischosen :/
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Here's a well scored scene for once. Though this song will be reused to death in the episodes to come...

I really didn't like the Bardock and "I am the Super Saiyan" score choices. The episode 1 flashback one was okay up 'til the wedding-with-battle-music part. But the one where Cell becomes perfect actually worked pretty well.

Here is another clip. The musical selection is pretty bad here too.

I know this has been said many times but the music placement for the most part is terrible, and why does it feel like I keep hearing the same tracks over and over again, use some variety already.

Wow.....I'm so happy I own parts 1-4 with Kenji Yamamoto and episodes 53-63 from the Nicktoons broadcast. I'm quite disappointed though, as I really do think the replacement score could've worked if they had selected someone a little more familiar with the original 'DBZ' series to select the placement of the tracks, and perhaps take a little more time to decide which piece should go where. I'm still waiting for my favourite pieces from 'DBZ Movie One' to show up ('Kyoufu No Ginyu Tokusentai' especially).

WHY. THE. HECK. DOES. HE. KEEP. USING. THAT. SAME. MOVIE. 8. TRACK!??kei17 wrote:Here is another clip. The musical selection is pretty bad here too.
Seriously, it's been used in every Kikuchi scored Kai episode I've seen! Also, getting real sick of Nagasaki playing the music in the episode like he's just playing one of the BGM CD's on shuffle. Hearing it switch to another song mid-scene is jarring, and incredibly unprofessional.

At the very least, it seems he went with some movie 7 music for Goku's Super Saiyan transformation.

I must be pretty out of touch, because I actually think a lot of the songs fit.. They're just getting repetitive. Like you guys have said, he needs more variation on the tracks he chooses.

I have to say, I'm beginning to pitty Kenisu.

The one who ruined Kai is none other than Yamamoto himself. He did that, now it's gone. As a result, they have to replace everything, but do not have enough time to do that properly.AoiKageNoChikara wrote:Kai is destroyed. I'll stick to dragon boxes! THANKS NAGASAKI! You ruined Kai!
Anyway, as DragonBoxZTheMovies, it seems that they really need someone familiar with the original DBZ music now. This is getting too poor. Maybe I will try to contact the Kai staff.

Re: Japanese DVD Release Has the Kikuchi Score - Confirmed
Kai's becoming more painful to watch with the Kikuchi score.
Re: Japanese DVD Release Has the Kikuchi Score - Confirmed
Castor, I never thought I would think the same... but, yeah, they really ruin Kai with randomly selecting music...
Re: Japanese DVD Release Has the Kikuchi Score - Confirmed
Well, from the French broadcast, I can definitely say that episodes 1 and 2 were kinda painful, but 3+ seem to be scored somewhat better.
