Funimation is not an animation studio. It's best to leave production to professionals, not second-hand salesmen.
Not to mention it would make the people who worship Funimation even more insufferable.

Well in a way they haven't. Not a release targeted to one side of the fanbase. But a release two both sides whether you perfer the original or dub more.

And therein lies a business decision on FUNimation's part that was either very wise or very unwise depending on your point of view. It's wise in the sense that it has given them a reason to re-release their most financially successful property multiple times, but unwise in the sense that it divided an already divided fandom.Gotham22 wrote:bkev wrote:^The Dragon Box says hi.KingofWisdom wrote:They can't even give DBZ a proper release, so I'd be pretty nervous about them handling the editing too.

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Re: Sabat & Cook answering to idea of USA exclusive Kai Buu
Honestly they should redub the Buu Saga from Z for a more accurate dub and to make it fit with Kai. No editing, just dubbing.
And while not saying the Kai's uncut on the DVDs and Blu-ray was a mistake, I can see FUNi assuming that any Anime fan would know like it went without saying. I thought that too before coming here. But apparently, they overestimated what some fans knew and didn't.

If they did this, shouldn't they do the same with DB, GT & all the movies & specials, Garlick Jr. arc, and the rest of the fillers? DBZ & DBKai are 2 different series. Yes, Kai contains DBZ material, but they are still 2 different series. Boo arc does NOT belong to DBKai.matt0044 wrote:Honestly they should redub the Buu Saga from Z for a more accurate dub and to make it fit with Kai. No editing, just dubbing.

And Kai having the recap doesn't mean that Dragon Ball is part of Kai. If we go by this, DBZ episode 50 includes DBZ episode 49 because it has a recap of the episode. And by this logic, when we are watching an episode we are actually watching two episodes.

FUNimation should just re-dub the Boo arc, like they did with the first Dragon Ball movie (albeit, based on their original, poorly-translated dub).

This movie was redubed because it was edited like hell before, they even removed scenes from the movie & replaced them with scenes of episodes of the series.Piccolo Daimao wrote:FUNimation should just re-dub the Boo arc, like they did with the first Dragon Ball movie (albeit, based on their original, poorly-translated dub).

Re: Sabat & Cook answering to idea of USA exclusive Kai Buu
I know I've criticized FUNi's Shin-chan before but it's sort of relative to this.
FUNimation did somewhat do their own anime show, based on Shin-chan which they transformed into an American cartoon series type by only using:
I don't think anyone would want a lousy Majin Boo Kai arc produced-ish by FUNimation.
Dragon Ball Z Kai (Dragon Ball Kai) ended with Cell's arc and everyone just has to accept the fact. To continue Boo's arc watch it on Dragon Box / Orange Bricks or read the manga.
Btw, it's good to see the English audience has been introduced to another series than Dragon Ball Z, regardless of the many changes FUNimation did. =)

- Characters' names were changed from Japanese to Western names
- US references
- Cutting off the A/B/C episode parts
- Bringing up Hima-chan way too early
- Much later episodes are brought up too early
- Episodes are in an inconsistent order
- They only call Shinnosuke by "Shin"
- Went from a child/family anime series to adult theme
- No original Japanese cards
- The DVD version doesn't even feature Japanese audio with English subs, or English dubtitles for the English dub

How much content would there actually need to be cut out and added in for a Majin Buu Kai arc to be even possible anyway?
I'm guessing quite a lot.

Re: Sabat & Cook answering to idea of USA exclusive Kai Buu
I'm doing my own cut of the arc and there's a lot you could cut. Much of it is waiting around / useless scenes like the behind-the-scenes antics at the Tenkaichi and Dabura's heightening-ki filler and Heaven bits. Those can be seemlessly cut, and I'm doing it with Windows Live Movie Maker and no budget so it's definitely possible with a real studio at the helm.Gonstead wrote:How much content would there actually need to be cut out and added in for a Majin Buu Kai arc to be even possible anyway?
