No, you need to read that line again, acknowledge exactly what it says, and then just stop. lol I never said anything about the movements, expressions or any sort of animations, I said models. Spike's might have been a little blocky, especially in the fingers, but Dimp's hair and faces were extremely squished looking, super noticeable on the Super Saiyans. It was hard for me to play the games when it looked like someone had been deforming SS Goku's face on the Mario 64 loading screen...DarkPrince_92 wrote:Have to stop you right there. First off, Spike's models are very blocky, and Dimps has much better character animations. The essence of movement is much better in Dimps games. Budokai 3/Infinite World Specials are much more believable, because they capture movement and reactions and expressions MUCH better. Raging Blast did better from the Sparking games as far as expressions and models, but compared to Dimps games, still lack a lot.

I see what you mean there. Budokai 2 and 3 have these weird head things going on, then Burst Limit did a lot better. But I guess I was referring back to the first Budokai game about quality of models and animations. To this day, that game still has the best 3D animated and almost completely accurate cutscenes.

Well Infinite World = BT3
Each one has each pros and cons, but if you need to see my explanation of "why", just see the "Bt3 vs B3 mechaniques" to see my posts, they're long and I may post it here later.

Re: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 the best Dragon Ball video game?
I'll post this here for anyone to reply to but I feel it important to say that my favourite games (equally) are: Budokai 3, Infinite World and Shin Budokai 2. Closely followed by both Raging Blast games and I should receive Ultimate Tenkaichi tomorrow but from what I've heard I wont favor it about any of these.
Jaruka wrote:Oh, all these arguments are the same crap I saw back in the days of the Tenkaichi games. Back then, even after the release of Tenkaichi 3, everyone still hated the damn series and glorified the Budokai games. Then the next series of games came out, Burst Limit, Raging Blast et al. However once the new generation was out, everyone glorified the previous generation (Tenkaichi) and as such the cycle was complete.
I called this back then but the hate for Tenkaichi 3 was so strong I actually doubted myself a fair bit but now, several years later I'm glad I was right. Raging Blast 2 is easily better than Tenkaichi 3 in almost all aspects and has rendered the game unplayable to myself as it's clunky, slow and generally boring, you can't customise anything and every battle feels the same as the last. In Raging Blast 2 you have the ability to at least change your character's loadouts and the flashy, quick paced gameplay makes it more appealing and more enjoyable than Tenkaichi 3.
It does make me wonder though, if, in the next few years everyone's talking about how good Raging Blast 2 was. Funnily enough, after Ultimate Tenkaichi people immediately wanted the system they'd be complaining about for two years.
However if you still regularly play Tenkaichi 3 and Raging Blast 2 (as I try to) I'd love to hear some of these arguments and hopefully there'll be more than "well, you can do this one combo in Tenkaichi 3 that you can't do in Raging Blast!" because that barely passes as a valid complaint.

Is there anywhere to read or watch all the character interactions, dialogues, quotes from BT3? Oh I wish there were more than just the ones on youtube.

Re: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 the best Dragon Ball video game?
@ Jaruka, I feel you on that post. I was one of the people that liked things that worked at the time like the Budokai series, then Tenkaichi came and got used to it. It was a different love of the system. Then the games kept changing and changing and I never knew why. But for me, Spike games don't hold that high energy that Dimps games had, but it's fun to watch and play.
And the complaints I feel came in when people started to notice things that were lacking like number of characters (OMG!
) or lack of story (GODAMMIT!
). My issue has always been quality and not quantity. Gameplay is what makes me keep playing. And the story they have to get right for me to care if it's included or not. To this day, Budokai 1 still has the best animated cutscenes, and Burst Limit is a close second (only because it has pretty graphics).

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is in my opinion a rather faulty, clumsy and repetitious game that barely qualifies as a proper fighting game, with proper in my opinion being games such as Street Fighter, Tekken, Virtua Fighter et al. Super Dragon Ball Z takes some cues from the Tenkaichi series in regards to the "free-roam" approach to the combat/gameplay, but also splicing in elements from the Budokai series. I personally regard SDBZ as the best DB fighting game.

Re: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 the best Dragon Ball video game?
BT3 is the only Dragonball game I've had the most fun with ever. I still play it and it's still exciting as fuck. Why?
Because it's extremely fast-paced. Your movements are so swift, you can move around wherever you want in a split second and attack the enemy unlike the PS3 reincarnations of it called Raging Blast 1/2. In addition, the combos are fun to pull off as well, because there are many of them and they look different from character to character. The defense mechanism is hard to do and that was also fun to learn because it needs to be timed perfectly, which also differs from attack to attack and character. Beam attacks are impactful and nice to watch. Other than that it has the most characters no matter how useless or "unimportant" they are.

I don't think it's the best, but it is really fuckin good. If it ain't number one, it's number 2. This really makes me miss my PS2 now....Shoryuken wrote:Super Dragon Ball Z takes some cues from the Tenkaichi series in regards to the "free-roam" approach to the combat/gameplay, but also splicing in elements from the Budokai series. Re: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 the best Dragon Ball video game?
I already did the Budokai 3 one (though I'm still going through what-if characters like Mecha Frieza and Majin Vegeta) and am currently working on the Raging Blast list. Tenkaichi 3 will come after those 2, so I'll be posting all 3 on this forumJackal puFF wrote:Is there anywhere to read or watch all the character interactions, dialogues, quotes from BT3? Re: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 the best Dragon Ball video game?
I'd probably say either Super Dragon Ball Z, Attack of the Saiyans, LOG 2 & 3, or Budokai 3/Infinite World would have that title. Maybe even Dragon Ball Online if we count MMOs. Sparking Meteor!!, while I like it, it's not very well made. It's very repetitive and shallow. It's a fan service game; nothing more, nothing less. Not that there's anything wrong with that but it really doesn't deserve to be called the best.

Some (if not most) of the Tenkaichi fans care more about the fact that it has 160 characters while the other games have far less.Insertclevername wrote:I'd probably say either Super Dragon Ball Z, Attack of the Saiyans, LOG 2 & 3, or Budokai 3/Infinite World would have that title. Well, so, quantity over quality?
Gran Turismo 5 could have been a great racing game but they worked more on having a 1000 cars than the game's enjoyability, only the Premium Cars are able to be played with the Cockpit View and there's not even physical damage to the cars neither on all. Polyphony Digital (and Sony -- Because it's a PlayStation exclusive) need to think carefully next time.
Forza and GRID nailed it, so no reason why GT can't.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

I love Meteor and Budokai 3 equally. They are the best DB game's I've ever played, and probably ever will.

It's hard to say. Sparking Meteor has the best gaemplay bar none of any Dragon Ball game but I just don't know if that is enough to say it's the best. I am usually having a hard time choosing between Budoki 3, Raging Blast 2, and Sparking Meteor.

Honestly, my favorite Dimps game would be the Shin Budokai ones. Why? Because Budokai 3's Dragon Rush mechanic is bullshit. Like, that's the most annoying thing about B3. SB didn't have that. I honestly haven't played all the Dragon Ball games, but of the Dimps games, SB are at the top for me.
