- "Akira Toriyama said..." without references
- "Are they still on Namek?"
- "OVER 9000!"
I agree with those but I add

-Kai being a disgrace when it is closer to the manga
-Kai being the kids version when A) they bot are for kids and B) The Kai dialogue is easily more mature.
-Vegeta being a brit in Kai
-Kai ruining pace (seriously no one cared when the manga moved a lot faster)
-Anime is canon
-GT is canon when Toriyama himself called it a side story
-Anime is Toriyama's true canon
-EOB is canon
-Bardock is the Legendary Super Saiyan
-Goku is the Legendary Super Saiyan (no one is unless you count non canon Broly)
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Personally, I'm kinda of sick of these, "DBZ takes X amount of time to do Y" hyperboles. While these can be a legitimate complaints no one ever takes it that way. I've seen it treated like some new and profound insight and humor on the series and it's just not. It's even more insulting when I'm told it after knowing that I'm a DB fan, as if I wouldn't know. With things like Kai getting notoriety I think it's safe to assume people know one of the biggest faults with the TV adaptation.

I have no problem discussing the faults of TV series, however I do not like having the same conversation over and over again. Until people decide to provide better criticism than "tee hee, dbz fights take 20 episodes to get anywhere" or can make it funny I would rather this phrase be retired. Or at the very least around my vicinity.

Oh, and don't get me started when people try to compare the pacing of DBZ with other horribly paced shows.

EDIT: And while looking at other posts, I'll add any and all discussion of "canonicity" in the franchise to the list.

Pick one, goes for both Ocean and FUNi.

Any of them, as far as I'm concerned anyway. Though I know there's definitely fans who didn't come from the dub side of things first, the whole ostracizing of people who did - whether they do or do not still like the dub - gets old to me. It just creates more pointless divides in the fandom than any of the differences between the versions do. Because in the end, it is the same show.

Oh I know exactly what you were talking about. However, I specifically said that to point out how ridiculous that statement is in a community like this, the FUNi dubs are not the only ones out there. Using myself as an example, I would agree with you if A) it was about the Mexican dub and B) there was any ill will to towards it.

I think people fan wank the Funi dubs because most fans grew up with it. I grew up with the dubs and I can admit that they suck.

Man, this is weird for me.

I'd prefer my stuff to be more in line with the original, but I can't bring myself to disregard the dub I grew up with.

My compromise is the Dragon Box. :)

Some people do take it too far of course, but there's nothing wrong with liking the English dub in spite of it's problems. I do. I also love the original Japanese version. It is entirely possible to still like both, without it being just 'nostalgia'.

Actually, there's another one. I dislike when any liking of the dub is chalked up to being because of nothing more than nostalgia too.

Yes, but the problems arise when people don't like to admit the faults of FUNi's version. I haven't seen too many people being insulted for saying, "Yeah, it has its problems, but I still like it."

Well I for one am incredibly tired of the DBZ fanboys that can't get over DBZ characters not being the strongest characters in fiction. Seriously Gogeta a multiverse buster? I don't think so. I'm actually one of the few Goku fans that was glad Superman beat him in that Death Battle. Nerd rant over, I'm not too fond of people who criticize Colleen's Gohan. I cannot stand when people call themselves DBZ fans yet criticize the japanese voice actors. Oh also Broly overestimation annoys me but I suppose that would be incorporated into the DBZ fanboy thing. I also very much hate when people say Toriyama said something when he really didn't. I'm sure I have more but that will be edited on later I suppose.

True enough, I suppose. Maybe I'm just being oversensitive on this one, this time anyway.

I like this mindset.

Weird. For a thread about gripes, this is almost... therapeutic. :D

Well to be honest they have valid criticisms to make but yeah some people do go a little too far.

People always have been hated GT and I think they will still will. I remember a lot of old web post about GT from the early 2000's talking about how bad GT was.

The hype FUNimation gave GT also doesn't help its perceptions in America.
