They were under contract they couldn't release it for gamecube at the time.

As of now, the game is only coming to PS2. Why is that? I'm glad you asked, because so did I. It turns out PS2 has one-year exclusivity on these titles, which explains why GameCube is so far behind. As for Xbox, more people own Hummers in Japan than Microsoft's big box, so they don't bother developing the game for it.

It was one of their weakest consoles, but hardly a failure. You make it sound like it was among the Game Boy Micro and Virtual Boy.
Well, yeah. There's failures, but then there's
disasters. In all seriousness though, I suppose I did exaggerate a bit. But to be fair, it was Nintendo's next big console. For it to get such poor sales in comparison to the competition, you'd think they'd be a little more than upset. At least it had some friggin' awesome games!

That was in regards to Budokai Tenkaichi. If Namco Bandai wanted to port B3 to Gamecube the could've done so in 2005 (when that interview was published), but they obviously didn't for a reason other than timed-exclusivity.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

Case in point: me and Virtual Boy (Galactic Pinball, dawg).
I miss the Virtual Boy... I used to have one, but now it's missing.
No system with Metroid Prime could ever be considered a failure. Besides, if it was a failure, it wouldn't have lasted as long as it did. It seems that with video games, everyone thinks that it's either a smash hit, or it's a total failure. I don't understand that mindset, and it seems developers are taking in that mindset now too.

Never thought I'd see two people on the same forum gush their nostalgia over the friggin' Virtual Boy.

I remember getting the virtual boy for Christmas as a kid and I hated it. Back on topic, If Budokai 3 was on the Gamecube then it will most likely have the same features that the Japanese version had. Budokai 2 had some bonus outfits for Goku and Piccolo along with day and night time stages from what I can remember.
