Is Goku's "choking on food" tactic viable?

Re: Is Goku's "choking on food" tactic viable?
Downing water while I had something in my throat (not outright choking, just something caught that had trouble going down) seemed to help. I still haven't tried the "pounding my chest" technique at the same time though, lol.

One last thing... I forget the anime but, there was once a famous anime that ran an intro for over a decade in which a small child takes a small riceball, throws it in the air, then catches it and swallows it. At some point a Japanese child copied this, then the intro was replaced. I'm sure countless youth have copied this anti-choking trick so if it was dangerous, I think there would have been an incident at some point and Standards and Practices in Japan would have phased it out at some point. (I don't mean the obviously overexaggerated choking where Luffy or Goku has a ginormous bone in their throat, but something more like what Beet does in Beet the Vandel Buster)

Nothing Goku does is viable.

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

The TV show is Sazae-san. In the next-episode preview, she used to throw up a piece of food and catch it in her mouth (and choke on it to comedic effect), until 1991, when a coalition of ENT doctors and pediatricians criticized it, resulting in it getting replaced. (According to Wikipedia, at least, nobody actually died imitating it.) Since then, they've used a "rock-scissors-paper" outro instead.GS7X7 wrote:One last thing... Re: Is Goku's "choking on food" tactic viable?
When I saw this thread's title, my first thought was "is there a scene where Goku pretends to choke on food to throw off an enemy that I'm forgetting or something?"
As for the actual question, I've never tried it, so I can't say from experience.

I can't believe this is on-topic.

Every time I seem to choke on something, drinking vodka seems to do the trick.

Don't knock it; you're looking at the longest-running and most-popular anime, ever.GS7X7 wrote:Wow, that is some real ghetto animation right there, lol.saiyajedi wrote:Here's the original version:

Is it like a Japanese-style South Park or something? That would describe the poor animation.
