Re: DEATH BATTLE: Majin Boo vs Kirby!
One thing he doesn't mention is Boo destroy's planets with ease. The explosion Kirby tanked was something Nappa could do. Boo can do much worse than that. Still Kirby has strength (Arguably but seems like it) and Speed (As long as he has Warp Star or Chariot if allowed, without it he should be slower as Jet Kirby only goes mach 5). Boo has Durability and Destructive power.

"Survives the explosion of a planet after defeating the enemy in Triple Deluxe"
Oh for God's sake. So let me guess, Mario can breath in space now because of Mario Galaxy and that means his lung capacity is superhuman and indefinite, thus giving him crazy stamina?
This is (one helluva) gag battle and everyone knows it. Both have "instant kill moves", both are bolstered by gags that are not really meant to be thought too much about, and Buu gets around the usual DBZ "inherent energy shields beat all" by virtue of his bubblegum body deliberately subverting it. It will be fun to watch, for sure, but its not one I'd put too much thought into.
Do want to play Triple Deluxe, though. Would be another game to get for a potential 3DS.

It's Death Battle. Expect unsubstantiated and arbitrary bullshit, followed by lame jokes and insufferable smugness. I guarantee you they're gonna wank Kirby, lowball the fuck out of Buu, and have him lose under retarded circumstances just to be unexpected, like they did when Starscream fought Rainbow Dash. Or when Yoshi fought Riptor.
I don't really like Death Battle.

All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Majin Buu vs. Kirby? I'm a pretty big Kirby fan, but... that's about as one-sided as a matchup can get without entering the realm of complete absurdity (a small rock vs. the Death Star! an actual caterpillar vs. a Caterpillar brand construction vehicle! a Magikarp vs. that enormous fish Goku caught in the first episode!)
Out of the Kirby games I've played, the biggest thing Kirby ever did (heck, the only "beyond early/mid Dragonball"-scale thing he ever did) was blow a third of the moon away in the aftermath of destroying the Nightmare in Kirby's Adventure. And even that was with the Star Rod, a super-artifact that channels the power of everyone's dreams, not something Kirby did through only his own strength. I don't count the "Megaton Punch" minigame from Kirby Super Star because... well, it's a jokey little minigame. Other minigames have King Dedede randomly showing up in the first level to throw bombs and eggs at you (...even though he's the semi-final boss of that game, sitting in the last level waiting for you) or everyone inexplicably transported to the Wild West or samurai-era Japan for a duel. They're not intended to be taken seriously, they're just goofy little minigames.
(I don't know if he did anything as impressive as partial moon-destruction in the anime since I've only seen fragments of it, but regardless, anime-Kirby and game-Kirby probably shouldn't be counted as the same entity anyway. They take place in entirely different worlds and don't have continuity in common or anything. It'd be like counting comic-Sonic and game-Sonic as the same, or blending anime-Pokémon and game-Pokémon together, or mix-and-matching abilities from all of the billion different versions of Superman.)
In other words... putting him up against Buu is like putting Yajirobe or Kami or someone on that sort of level (at best) up against Buu.
Literally the only reason anyone would think to have them fight is that they both fit the category of "pink squishy power-absorbing monster," but they're just WAY too far apart for it to make any sense beyond that.

Kirby can fling monsters into the sun. He hit Marx into Nova (a big asteroid) which exploded upon contact. He survived a planetary explosion visible in space. His Hypernova can swallow something like the Kamehameha. He's apparently getting those essence power ups from Milky Way Wishes so he gets 19 power ups, including mirror which could theoretically counter Candy beam. His Warp star is faster than light as he casually cruises through space with it. So Kirby is something. Also I think they're counting the planet bust feat....even though it's 201 Megatons...yet that little info from the game may be ignored as it's not logical to be that low for an earth sized planet.....even though games can follow their own stupid logic....like how the Rabbit Gang can survive in space for some reason.

Get the popcorns, the flame wars are about to begin.
.
Anyway, why don't they use the anime feats for dbz.?
Dabura stated that a person can destroy a planet at 300 killi. Ssj Goku was clearly 3000 killi. So anime goku could atleast destroy 10 planets, Fat buu exceeded babadis killi measuring instruments.
And when kid buu was about to destroy earth, goku stated the ki blast had enough power to destroy the planet ten times over.

Re: DEATH BATTLE: Majin Boo vs Kirby!
The kili measurement was said in the manga, but the Kid Boo one was not. If they use anime feats than Kid Boo's screams cause the world to go apeshit. Goku only says he and Vegeta can't stop the blast, not that it blows up earth ten times over....I'd say it'd be way more considering Vegeta and Freeza could already do that easily in lesser forms.flashback0180 wrote:Get the popcorns, the flame wars are about to begin.

Re: DEATH BATTLE: Majin Boo vs Kirby!
Even Raditz would laugh at a mere 201 megatons of TNT equivalent. He tanked attacks from Saiyan arc Piccolo, who could casually and effortlessly shatter the moon (literally trillions upon trillions times of times more impressive than Kirby's mini-game feat). Buu, in his weakest forms (Pure and Fat), can casually destroy stars and move faster than light. This isn't even a remotely fair fight. Neither was Starscream vs Rainbow Dash or Vegeta vs Shadow, or Yoshi vs Riptor, but of COURSE Death Battle is going to pull something out of its ass so the underdog can win (like in those fights, or the one with Peach). They'll disregard the fact that it makes no sense just because they don't give a shit about what the show is supposed to be about. Then they'll smugly bask in their 'accuracy'.

Re: DEATH BATTLE: Majin Boo vs Kirby!
For Kirby it's kinda hard to depict when he takes damage as it's a kids game. I don't think I've ever seen a moment he's wounded or hurt. Maybe in the anime, I don't know.
I disagree with your viewpoint on those fights but ok.

I think Majin Buu should win. A lot of Kirby's major feats seem kinda 'space chessy' (but DB is probably going to use them). I think he is only FTL is travel (using the war star) not in combat (mach 5 jet Kirby). Also the punching competition proves that celestial bodies in the Kirbyverse are a lot more fragile than ours.
Also if they use anime feats for Buu, I can't see things ending well for Kirby

This. I despise the concept of Screw attack's Death Battle. Because at the end of the day certain characters will either become stronger or gain more skills, which will make you re-evaluate the death battle they were a part of as to whether they won. Case in point with Goku gaining the Super Saiyan God form after his Death Battle with Superman. I guarantee that if, and quite honestly, when the full extent of the power Super Saiyan God form is revealed, Screw Attack will still refuse to do a rematch. Because God forbid somebody is actually as strong as Superman and actually defeats him in a fight.RandomGuy96 wrote:Even Raditz would laugh at a mere 201 megatons of TNT equivalent. Holy cow some of you are absurdly rude here.
It's one thing to analytically criticize and provide commentary on their product, and it's another thing to go full-on personal attack. Tone it down and realize that you're likely not the end-all-be-all source of knowledge about both participants in whatever battle they're producing. It's absolutely embarrassing to come in here and read some of the vitriol that's being splurted out.
For what it's worth, we haven't been approached for information about this one as we were with the Goku/Superman one.

I've been avoiding commenting here due to the rage going back and forth, but honestly, I think that might be the reason right there that Kanzenshuu wasn't approached for this like they were for the Goku/Superman video - there's not really a Kirby fansite that's anywhere near as comprehensive to give it's fair share of backup material for that side, is there? For this one, they're probably better off just making their own observations on the material.
