I think Gero would have to be VERY careful around Cell.
Not try to boss him around and maybe just play the proud father card.

That's true, he was pretty accomodating with #19, for instance.ZazamPow wrote:To be fair, he was in a very stressful situation. But he did just that to 17 and 18, so...

Perfect Cell and under would respect him as Cell only had praise for Gero and I believe he would keep him around. Super Perfect Cell would kill him.
Re: Would Cell be obedient to Dr. Gero?
Why do you say that? Super Perfect Cell really wasn't very different from Perfect in terms of personality, he was just excited because he thought he could kill Gohan now.miguelnuva1 wrote:Perfect Cell and under would respect him as Cell only had praise for Gero and I believe he would keep him around. Gohan deserves it.

Well, before it he wasn't raving about going from planet to planet and blowing them all up.

Before he came back, he couldn't have. He didn't have Instant Transmission then.mAcChaos wrote:Well, before it he wasn't raving about going from planet to planet and blowing them all up.

Immortal timeless creation. He could just launch himself in some direction in space and go to sleepKamiccolo9 wrote:Before he came back, he couldn't have. He could just fly from planet to planet. Remember he's part Freeza.Kamiccolo9 wrote:Before he came back, he couldn't have. He didn't have Instant Transmission then.mAcChaos wrote:Well, before it he wasn't raving about going from planet to planet and blowing them all up.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

That'd take a long time. Also, he'd have a very hard time finding any planets in the vastness of space. Also, I don't remember anything about him being immortal, like Buu. Indeed, the fact that he's made up of DNA from saiyans, namekians, Freeza-clan-guys, and insects would suggest that he's not immortal.DBZAOTA482 wrote:He could just fly from planet to planet. Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Dragonball Earth is basically Tatooine. "If there's a bright center of the universe, you're on the planet that it's furthest from."

Oh, I guess it was never stated, I always just pictured and assumed the "perfect" model would be immortal like the cyborgs.

Re: Would Cell be obedient to Dr. Gero?
Do you know how many light years would take for him to go to planet to planet? Without a space ship, he can't go anywhere if he can't teleport. With Kami's ship, it took Bluma and Mr. Popo five seconds to go to Earth to Jupiter. From what we have seen in the DB series, characters never shown to fly planet to planet without a space ship.DBZAOTA482 wrote:He could just fly from planet to planet. Well I mean, most characters can't survive in space so I don't think we'd ever see them do it even if they were fast enough.Hellspawn28 wrote:

Re: Would Cell be obedient to Dr. Gero?
There's a type of narcissist who actually values their mother because, being a created being, they can't let themselves consider their creator as inferior to them. I don't remember if they view the mother as an extension of themselves or whether they admit she's worth something as a separate person, but it's interesting to consider because Cell is pretty fucking narcissistic.
But whichever way Cell views his, uh, male-bodied mother, he's not going to listen to him any more than a typical son. He won't ignore him, either: Cell always speaks highly of Gero. The power dynamics would be subtle and interesting.

Plus, Dr. Gero at that point believed he managed to control the Android's personalties until they snatched the controller from him. Which further added to his stress.ZazamPow wrote:To be fair, he was in a very stressful situation. I believe the only time this sort of situation was addressed was during Cell's What-If in Supersonic Warriors, where Cell killed Dr. Gero due to not being interested in his goals.
