His Kai version of Vegeta is hands down his best voicing of the character. So much mature, reserved and more importantly, his acting overall is much better.

His performance in Dragon Ball Kai is my favorite so far. But, his voice and acting in DBZ S1>S3 redub wasn't bad at all, too !

I personally love his late Z era (Cell/Buu sagas).
Also GT, the early Z redub and the movies

His voice in the Buu saga, GT, the redub and Kai were all the best for me. Although I have to admit I love his Drummond impression for nostalgia and because of the sheer over the topness of it. I loved the hyperactive cockiness that it brought to Vegeta.

Kai/BoG > Buu Saga (DBZ) = Remastered > Budokai 2/3 > Other > DBZ Cell Saga > DBZ Frieza Saga

Since it's rather relevant to the topic at hand, I did some looking on Youtube and found a sort of general chronicle of Sabat's Vegeta performance and a specific scene comparison.
The original "Drummond Imitation" version of the armor scene sounds oddly...calm?

I love his performance in Kai and Battle of Gods, he doesn't sound aggressive all the time now. He was pretty good during the Buu Saga and the re-dub of seasons 1-3, but dear God I hated what he sounded like during the Android saga.

Kai BoG Sabat is best IMO. I did like his voice during the Buu Arc in the first run (almost the same voice as in Budokai 1), before it got really deep and gross in GT and DBZ Uncut.

The ones where he isn't impersonating the previous voice actor whose voice was completely unsuitable for Vegeta on every fundamental level.
As for his very best, I'd have to parrot others saying his BoG performance. The gruffness is gone and he now sounds like the smooth, smug Prince of all Saiyans he was always meant to sound like.

The Buu Saga-Remastered version I like most. I do also have a soft spot for the Drummond impression.

Remastered? It's the exact same voice recording from the original version of FUNimation's dub.Codarik wrote:The Buu Saga-Remastered version I like most.

Kai because it showed how he can be so good at voicing with handling aggressive scenes so well and calm scenes well and the improvement of the script also made it not sound as cheesy as the older versions. It also has shown how much he has improved delivering his lines in an impressive way and sounding more formal. His Drummond impression is just weird... His remastered dub is okay and he has got the tone of his Vegeta voice down, but not as good as Kai.

I personally liked his Vegeta's voice post-Dragon Ball Kai; as he sounded like a professional voice actor.
Re: Which of Chris Sabat's voices for Vegeta did you like mo
Post-Kai? Isn't that just the one movie, Battle of Gods? Bit too soon to make that call personally. His character had aged so his voice would naturally change.SSJ4_Zankuto wrote:I personally liked his Vegeta's voice post-Dragon Ball Kai; as he sounded like a professional voice actor.
I like his Cell Games voice as it's still quite aggressive.
Re: Which of Chris Sabat's voices for Vegeta did you like mo
His current era voice from Kai through Movies 14-15 is literally the best.
However I also really like his voice during the Buu saga and the redubs of Saiyan/Freeza saga. That was his last "modern voice" when he settled into his role and shed his Drummond impression. Shame he didn't redub his voice through the Cell saga, he didn't start sounding right till the Cell games.

I'm happy with his current voice. It feels more natural now (it could also be that he has more experience voice acting now too).
Re: Which of Chris Sabat's voices for Vegeta did you like mo
His Drummond one it's so bad is good
Re: Which of Chris Sabat's voices for Vegeta did you like mo
He, along with most of the cast, has easily gotten better as time has gone on. Kai and beyond is mostly perfect.

Re: Which of Chris Sabat's voices for Vegeta did you like mo
He was forced to imitate Brian Drummond's voice from the Ocean Dub by Funimation and it was just plain horrible. This was reoccurring until the Fusion Saga where Funimation finally gave him leeway and that's when the voice started to become molded into what it is today.tvfan721 wrote:Since starting in 1999, Chris Sabat has used many different voices for Vegeta. Which did you like most and when do you think Chris Sabat hit his peak as Vegeta?
In my opinion, the voice Chris Sabat used for Vegeta from 2003 to 2007 (DBGT from 2003, Season 1 and 2 from 2005, Season 3 Redub from 2007) was by far his best. I loved that version of Vegeta and I wish Chris could've re-dubbed Vegeta for the entire Orange Brick set rather than stopping after the Garlic Jr saga. It was awesome.
And regards to the Orange Brick set, they should redubbed all the characters from the Ginyu saga. The abrupt change in voices from when Goku arrives and fights Jeice and Burter is too noticable. I'm not sure why exactly that only Gohan, Krillin, and Vegeta got special treatment when Goku (Ginyu Saga), Freeza (2nd to final form) and Piccolo were just as bad.
