I know with the original
Gundam TV series, Bandai wasn't allowed to include the original Japanese audio track. I don't know if there was anything relating to the footage they also weren't allowed to do, but I'm exclusively talking about the visual content with this situation.
As seen throughout its history, FUNimation can crap all over the English audio track all they want ^_~.

But, yeah... quality issues!

They also had to remove an episode from the release and syndication, and apparently its the reason why the origina Gundam wont be released in Japan in it's bradcast format (though the movies still exist).
BIG MESS. But the chances are that FUNimation didn't actually bother fixing up any video to any great extent because really, if a majority of your customers dont complain, why fix it?

Really? What was the original like?

The whole gundam debacle started because it was owned by two different companies. Those damn Nazis almost sued Bandai because they used the original opening for the first 12 or so episodes. We should consider are self’s lucky that Funi (and Toei to some degree) at least gives use a choice, between Japanese and English.
