Damn, I love Tenkaichi 2. Anybody who says there's no depth to these games simply hasn't played them enough imo. Going to have to bust out my PS2 this weekend

I've condensed it to 22 videos. Not complete yet, but should be by the time of release.Lord Beerus wrote: Another great episode.![]()

Nice to know you've got a lot more content planned. Your videos are extremely well done and quite informative. Just out of curiosity, and I know that this may seem like a stupid question, but what is your favorite fighting/beat-em-up franchise?ZeroAnnihilated wrote:I've condensed it to 22 videos. Not a stupid question at all.Lord Beerus wrote: Nice to know you've got a lot more content planned. Your videos are extremely well done and quite informative. Just out of curiosity, and I know that this may seem like a stupid question, but what is your favorite fighting/beat-em-up franchise?
I love a variety of fighting games, and the enjoyment I receive relates strictly to my competition as I am a competitor at heart. Nothing drives me more than a worthy opponent. My continuing drive with Tenkaichi 2 stems from personal obligation and technical curiosity. Recognizing Tenkaichi 2 to hold more depth than initial understanding grabbed my attention and never let go. Every time I think I've discovered all there is to know about Tenkaichi 2, it throws a curve ball. Still... to properly answer your question:
My favorite fight-game franchise would have to be Super Smash Brothers, Melee to be specific. However, be it upon release or at the peak of communal interest... I've shared a great interest in various fight-game franchises.
If I could create a compilation, it would definitely include the MK series, Tekken series, Budokai series, Tenkaichi series, Super Smash Bros series, Street Fighter 2, Soul Calibur 2, Killer Instinct Gold, Mace: the Dark Age, UFC: Tapout 2, and the wrestling games for N64. I also got into some wrestling games for the PS2, but nothing as competitive.
Though I've played far more fighting games than this list, these games deserved my attention for training to be the best (the best among peers anyway). No one I knew could stop me.
I just felt that SSBM brought the competitor out in everyone AND was always fun to play. I played Melee today, in fact. Had a blast!

You're really making me start to appreciate the Tenkaichi series a lot more, ZeroAnnihilated.

That's one of those things I miss on Tenkaichi 3. Left and Right guards. I also miss Strong Guard as well. They simplified a few things on Tenkaichi 3. Even though I think it was for the best in general, I still think a combination of both games plus a few additions from Raging Blast will make a great game.

There were some great changes from Tenkaichi 2 to Tenkaichi 3, but there were some poor ones as well. I agree though. Just like any gaming series, the idea of picking specific gaming qualities from each game for universal implementation would be an astounding feature to behold. I'm sure there are some aspects of the Budokai games that would be fun to fit in as well.Darknat wrote: That's one of those things I miss on Tenkaichi 3. Left and Right guards. Wow, Zero, love the videos. You make not ashamed to like Tenkaichi games anymore. I thought because it wasn't SF it was ass.

Out of curiosity Zero, what do you think about the Raging Blast combo and battle system in comparison to Tenkaichi? Or have you never played them?

Re: Depth of Tenkaichi (Trailer)
I never got to the RB games. I don't have anything against them, and I don't have a reason to not give them a try (who knows what the future holds?). From what I've seen, it looks like a game worth diving into. The deal is: when I get into a game, I submerge myself in it, so it takes forever for me to move from one game to the next (I've had Xenoverse for months now, haven't played it yet). I've been getting into SSBM lately, but T2 is my gravitational game. As much as I know about Tenkaichi, a question on RB would probably be better directed at someone like Warhawk059377. BUT, Hawk is only my reference to give based on my limited knowledge of the game. if there's a better reference, he/she would be beyond my recognition.Doctor. wrote:Out of curiosity Zero, what do you think about the Raging Blast combo and battle system in comparison to Tenkaichi? Re: Depth of Tenkaichi (Trailer)
So I know I've been railing on Zero in wondering who this series was really for, but then actually watching it I sort of slap myself. This is brings back memories of a time I was in a few years ago in which Tenkaichi 2 was my timeburning game, and watching all of those gears starting turning in my head as 5-hit-and-fall-back combos and beam spamming gave way to learning not only the combo mechanics, but the silly unintentional bits like Bardock and Dodoria's Kiai infinities, or resetting a fallen opponent into a standing position using Freeza or Supreme Kai's telekinesis, and I know you and others have found exploits even more obscure. Not that all of those things are particularly technical, nor will naysayers who tell us to pack our bags, go home, and stop defending trashy tie-in fighting games ever leave us (because they're right, in part), but if you can educate some of the folks who wrongly believed that Spike's games revolved around beam spamming simply because that is generally enough to beat the A.I, do it. Do justice to the fact that it only took Spike one sequel to "fix" their game.
Of course, I doubt Dimps' development environment circa-2001 was all that great, and Spike was doubtlessly working on Tenkaichi in tandem with Budokai 3, so that is more than likely unfair.

It has nothing on the Spike games; its entire combo game seems to be based around how long you can keep a follow-up going- either flying after a target or teleporting behind them as they fly off. Perfectly Cell is a particular fiend, as per Dimps' norm, but only because he fits more punches into a set.ZeroAnnihilated wrote:(I've had Xenoverse for months now, haven't played it yet).
