Native German speaker here. The source states the following reasons:
- The character is called Ganesha (same as the god)
- It's a distortion of the actual god, since it represents wisdom and the removal of obstacles, not destruction
- Lord Ganesha should only be praised in temples or home shrines and should not be used as a villainous character in a tv show due to commercial greed
- Inappropriate use of hindu gods or concepts for commercial or equal uses are not okay and hurtful
So... bullshit.
Edit to clarify:
Since the name of the character is not even known yet. Who knows what fanfic this guy refers to.
Someone should let Mr Zed know the Hakaishins arent evil.
And that they are twelve, not eight...
Unless they mean that four GoDs are "good or neutral" and eight are "evil"... but I have never heard of that before (maybe somewhere someone mentioned some other GoDs are scarier than Beerus, but I think no details are known).
Ugh... this is gross. Just... ugh. Can I just give a personal "fuck you" to any person or body that is vocally offended by harmless shit? It's just a whole level of stupid that humanity shouldn't have to deal with.
Actually, nevermind. I'm taking it a whole other direction. From now on, every time the Society of Hinduism does anything publicly that doesn't specifically cater to our religious (or anti-religious) sensibilities, all of us will bombard them with emails over how offended we are. Also, we'll demand that they send us one case of Walmart-brand cookies of our choice to help our poor, helpless souls cope with living on this big bad nonconformist planet. Everyone else down?

I dunno, are Walmart cookies any good>
When Super apparently shoves Goku down our throats:
Spoiler:
HeroR wrote:The characters in Super can work with Goku and they're treated like equals to him. Goku just being in the room doesn't take away from the character. In Z, the characters were so depended on Goku that they couldn't go an episode without mentioning him in some way even by hoping he will arrived, get better, training to get stronger, our last hope, being like him, ect. Goku was wanked to hell in Z, even when he wasn't in the room and everyone else was secondary to him. In fact, this was a major issue Goku had, which is why he didn't want to do anything in the Buu Saga.

"Who are you?"
"I'm Pixelor, the God of Destruction"
"Your face is covered of square confused blocks..."
"Muhaha, that's cause I'm strongerrrr"
... no, Minecraft people will complaint. No way.
"Who are you?"
"I'm Censoriuk, God of Destruction"
"You have a black circle all above your face"
"Muhaha, that's cause I'm strongerrrr"
"What if I remove that circle?"
"No wait! Don't do it!! I'm offensive!"
... this could go.
I learned english listening to songs. So I don't know anything about. The day you had to learn play piano by just listening .mp3, you'll understand.

It's very obvious that this was not written by someone who has a great amount of knowledge about the franchise. What most likely happened here is that the temporary nicknames used for the so-far unnamed characters (for example Ganesha, Brolyne/Brolina/whatever and Boozo) were misinterpreted as being their actual names.
And, of course:
Nothing is inherently offensive. Offense is taken, not given. It's this man who's offended, it's not the character who's offensive. It's not Toriyama's responsibility to not be offensive; instead, he's free to take offended people into consideration if he wants to. And I'm pretty sure Toriyama doesn't particularly want to in this instance.
Probably Kanzenshuu's biggest Bulla fangirl. Current avatar: DBU Bulla as Sailor Princess Sadala, based on Sailor Moon: Cosmic Dance

I was born in India and my family is Hindu, while I'm not. However, this is not the slightest bit offensive to any of my family members. First of all, it is wrong to call all Hakaishin "evil". Shiva is also a god of destruction in Hinduism, but these gods are neutral and destroy for balance.
It's just some religious fanatic that is trying to get attention, ignore it guys. This is coming from a guy who lives with a family that sometimes prays to Ganesh.

Can confirm, my mom's looking forward to Bra being born
On topic though, I'm surprised a complaint like this came out THIS early into the arc (If this is not a troll), but then again that new OP spread like wildfire.
It's things like this that make me thankful that Japan doesn't care about these snowflakes cause if DB and other anime were American then everything would be stopped and changed anytime someone started crying about being "offended".
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Being Hindu, I have to ask: lol, what newspaper is this? This is definitely to get attention really. No one cares that much about religion in our society that they would start attacking a fucking Japanese cartoon.
This is going to go nowhere though, I can be sure of that.
Those guys are getting "offended" over nothing.
Why does that article call the upcoming arc the "5th season" of Dragonball Super. Did I miss something here? Japanese anime don't have traditional seasons like U.S. shows.

It's the 5th major arc, that's probably what it's referring too. These guys are just desperate to find something wrong with nothing. I'll now be expecting extra cookies from whoever wrote that newspaper article.
Why is this guy assuming that this God of Destruction is based on Ganesh in the first place? As far as I know, Beerus was based on Toriyama's own cat, not Bastet. Never did it occur to him that maybe Toriyama is a huge fan of Dumbo, or Babar the Elephant? Or maybe that one day he was enjoying a little walk with his family at a zoo, saw a super rare cute little pink elephant there, and thought: "Hey! This guy would make a great God of Destruction!"?

We'll have standards. We'll have quality control. We'll have better information. And I'm sure, people will naturally gravitate to it once there is some substance.
The best way to fix the giant cancer that is the DB Wiki is to provide an alternative for those who really want it. Even those who prefer dub names will wind up looking things up on the Kanzenshuu Wiki. Because sooner or later, they're going to need information they know they can trust.
