I never really cared for them in the first place to be honest. There designs were never that interesting, I never cared about their personalities, and the only interesting thing that ever happened with them is when their leader challenged Goku to a duel where if he won Universe 7 would be the only Universe to be erased.
Re: Has anyone else grown really fond of the Trio de dangers, the 3 wolves of Universe 9?
He definitely seem to care, but Goku wasn't even allowed to hold back.Akyon wrote:Bermago's ability and his charisma are pretty good. Hell, I was rooting for him in the exhibition match, since technically there he's the GOOD GUY. "Please spare all the universes if I win, Zen-oh sama." and then Zeno agrees. And then Goku doesn't even give a shit about everyone dying providing his fight boner gets it's fix. Okay, we're past that now, but god damn that was an effective way to get me to root the opposition.
Basil vs. Buu was impressive and allowed Buu to look cool for the first time in a LONG time(possibly ever). His kicks are semi unique and I liked the Tree of Might reference in that battle. This latest episode, he's the first to eliminate anyone(someone who can FLY no less), nearly scores a second KO, and takes down Universe 3's BIG STRATEGY alongside Hit.
Lavender comparitively is...a little generic. He clearly has the biggest nasty streak of the three, talking about how he's going to kill Gohan and licking his lips and generally twirling his figurative villain moustache at every opportunity.
Looks wise, I didn't think much of them as they are a little generically designed(albeit I do dig Bermago's red heroic scarf), but there's something about the Trio I can't really hate. They're quite affable, much in the same way the Ginyu Force were; they're clearly a nasty bunch, but they care about one another and are slightly cartoonly villainous.
As for the topic itself, Basil has gone up in my rankings. Really like that dude. Awesome that he got he first ring out.

He actually asked that no universes would be erased, which is why he asks if Goku is insane at one point.Gog wrote:I never really cared for them in the first place to be honest. Right now Basil is probably my favorite non-U7 character, even with the reused kicker energy ball animation I still really enjoyed him figthing. As others said Lavender is pretty uninteresting so far, but I have a feeling Bergamo will be one of the last 10 or so standing. I don't really understand why this episode got so much hate, obviously nothing really super important happened yet, but for me the Basil fighting and Nink was enough to enjoy this episode.
Nink also gets honorable mention for nearly ringing out Goku. I think he really only served the purpose of showing Goku let his guard down which may screw him over later and Gohan will have to take charge. I like how he looks kind of like an orc and his creepy words of 'come to heaven with me' etc as he was almost taking Goku off the edge.
I really was hoping the robot guy (idk his name sorry) would last longer, but at least he got taken out honorably by someone like Hit (and Basil sort of lol)

Enjoy them now while you can, because they're going to get man handled by Vegeta and Goku next episode!

Well as long as they don't get knocked out of the ring, they could last longer. lolTheOne wrote:Enjoy them now while you can, because they're going to get man handled by Vegeta and Goku next episode!
Re: Has anyone else grown really fond of the Trio de dangers, the 3 wolves of Universe 9?
I can actually see that happening... Goku and Jiren duke it out in the finals and simultaneously knock each other out while an unconscious Frieza remains on the stage. All because nobody officially knocked him out!precita wrote:Well as long as they don't get knocked out of the ring, they could last longer. lolTheOne wrote:Enjoy them now while you can, because they're going to get man handled by Vegeta and Goku next episode!
Then we'd have Frieza wish for something outrageous to cause problems for ALL the universes.

I've definitely found myself caring about them a lot more than I thought I would. That might have been because of the whole situation with Universe 9. They're the best warriors in a universe of terrible people, and they actually care about not being erased. Them and Toppo are probably the only contestants where the threat of erasure seems to really weigh on them. And unlike Toppo, they don't present themselves as morally-correct.
I could have gotten into anything...and yet I chose the story aimed at young Japanese boys about martial arts, and later about super-powerful aliens punching each other really hard.

Their designs didn't feel too bad in EP97, and Basil was definitely the star of the episode. Bergamo's ability is also cool and it was refreshing to see a psychotic fuck (who isn't Freeza) like Lavender. I won't say I've grown fond of them, but they're also much more interesting than Freeza 2.0 and Broli 2.0.

Maybe if they'd stop the unearned evil laughter. It makes them look stupid that they're still doing it after being thoroughly trounced.

Is Lavender's poison too deadly to use here?

Re: Has anyone else grown really fond of the Trio de dangers, the 3 wolves of Universe 9?
I have to say that I grew more fond for the Trio De Dangers a bit more than I expected to. At first, when I saw their character designs on the leaks and magazines, I thought that they would just be simple generic grunts that won't be worthwhile to the story arc at all. Turns out that I was somewhat proven wrong.
Basil's fighting style being based exclusively on kicking and more Savate-esque is pretty interesting and also unique to Dragon Ball as well. For someone that's from the most low ranked universe (which I anticipated that U9 would be the first ones to fall in the TOP given how U9 was portrayed to be the lowest of the totem pole), his recent performance and record in the Tournament of Power by being the first one to knock another fighter out of the ring is quite impressive and subverted my expectations quite a bit.
Despite me finding Bergamo's techniques and fighting style to be tediously bland, he has surprisingly decent characterization. Despite being a leader of a seemingly terrible group of people, he is shown to at least have a code of honor and decency and great care for life as proven with his eloquent proposition with Zeno for sparing the universes should he prevail.
Lavenda, for me personally, is my most favorite one out of the 3 members of Trio De Dangers. Everything from his over the top unhinged and psychotic nature, malicious fighting style with his poison, to his deranged facial expressions just makes this guy a pretty likeable scumbag and favorite bastard.

I enjoy them, and with his powers and abilities, I feel Bergamo would be a great character to come back after the tournament in a "I'm going to continue challenging this jerkass until I win" sort of way. I mean, if you really think about it, it's clear he's never really had to use his own power when fighting against an opponent before, so realizing he needs to train his own strength would be a logical conclusion. And because he's never had to use his own power, his absorption ability was enough to win a fight so much so that he never grew to such that size before fighting Goku, hence he never knew about the speed weakness. With that in mind, he's a prime person to come back after working on his abilities, ie: learning how to absorb hits without growing.

Just Basil and Bergamo, but the degree to which I hate U9 masks any fondness I have for them by a wide margin. Hope Goku stomps them all within 1-2 episodes, but I won't be mad if they do cool stuff.

Judging by next weeks preview, Vegeta and Goku annihilated Universe 9 this upcoming episode.avasatu wrote:Just Basil and Bergamo, but the degree to which I hate U9 masks any fondness I have for them by a wide margin.
