I already knew that and either way doesn't actually change the point I was trying to make. Toriyama just gave Gohan's final attack extra power for narrative reasons like the Super writers gave Trunks's final attack extra power for narrative reasons.

Toriyama uses the electricity crackles as a visual cue to us the audience that Cell is now on the same level as Gohan. And then Gohan just one shots him anyway because his potential for asspulls is just that insane. Between that and the Beast Gohan asspull, nobody should ever try fighting Gohan again lmao, that guy will just magically become stronger than you like the Hulk

Of course we all have our own interpretations, but I find it funny that you're purposely interpreting this in the most ass-pullish way possible and making the story worse by doing so when as we've already explained in prior comments, there's a perfectly reasonable way to look at that whole scene that doesn't involve any asspulls lol you must not hate asspulls I guess.

Yes, SS2 Gohan obliterated Cell with one arm, but look at Cell. He's got all those little electricity crackles around him. So you should think of him as SS2 Cell. SS2 Cell vs. SS2 Gohan. Gohan one shotted him cause the Father Son Kamehameha is just a giant asspull I guess lol.

I mean, yeah. Cell also even says himself: "And I've powered up-like Son Gohan." The implication in terms of both visuals and dialog is that they are both "Super Saiyan 2".

But if it's an "asspull" that Gohan can kill a distracted Cell with his full power, then it's an "asspull" that Cell was able to wound a distracted Gohan so badly with a casual blast meant for an incapacitated Vegeta. Neither were bracing for the attacks they took. And it's not as if Gohan holding back out of hesitation and worry is some new development dropped at the eleventh hour; #16 tells him to stop holding back right before getting finished off.

I'm so confused. I thought it was common knowledge that one's mental/spiritual/whathaveyou balance determined the effectiveness of one's ki. Like, y'all have emotions, right? You do your best work when you're mentally in a good place, not when you're depressed like Gohan was.
