As meh as it is... I guess it's still better than the blue bricks masters... If Crunchyroll brought the SV remaster stateside I'd probably get it just to have something a better even if it's not by a ton.

Accepting shit releases is probably what leads to not getting better releases..

You'd be better off "finding" Seed of Might's color corrected version instead.

That's exactly what it is. Those terrible orange DVD sets were best sellers for well over a decade.

The problem is that most people are stupid when it comes to audio/video quality, in general, I could list dozens of examples unrelated to Dragon Ball.

You have no idea how often I see people with TVs set to the wrong aspect ratio claiming that "it looks good", even if the picture is all stretched one way or the other (this was even more prominent a couple of decades ago, when 4:3 and 16:9 were both still popular, but it still happens today), or people who download songs from Youtube because "they sound good enough" (sure, let's ignore the fact that they've been transcoded at least two times to get there), or...

Let me stop here, but the list could go on forever.

I think it's safe to say that I'm somewhere between stupid and barely knowledgeable when it comes to audio and image quality, but even I can see there's something wrong with...this...

Back in the day, fans "debated" whether or not the dragon boxes looked better than this. How on earth can this...thing be considered better than anything ?

Indeed, it’d arguable the singles that barely looked better than vhs recordings were better than the Orange Bricks, at least as far as the first 3 seasons.

I wish the Complete series Blu-Ray of Speed Racer that we got here in the U.S. had set a precedent, and led to a similar-looking release of Dragon Ball.

You would think one of the GREATEST and most influential anime EVER would have gotten a proper remaster release at this point.
Not to mention, next year is 40th anniversary of the anime (1986) which would be PERFECT opportunity for such a release, yet so far, no news from Toei yet; it seems very wishful thinking.
Took me way too long to realize this, but along with other issues that plague the franchise in this and other areas, a large part of it ultimately comes down to the fact that even the original run of the series (in particular, post-Z branding) was an empire unto itself.

And like real empires throughout history, it ended up stretching itself too thin to adequately address other legitimate concerns. Even now, their only priority is for expanding their "territory", as it were, rather than maintaining the homeland (for lack of a better description).

It's why you see a lot of IP's which aren't anywhere near the same level get what DB usually doesn't.

For my part, keeping certain key facts like that in mind certainly gives me less reason to agonize constantly over it like I did before.
