I'm not going to pick fights with anyone on here. So dont expect me to respond. I was posting my thoughts, not everyone has to agree with them.

Well, so far I haven't given a actual review of the set so here it goes.

Presentation: The box isn't horrible but I don't really care for it. It's way to plain but if they keep the same style for all the rereleases of dbz it'll be nice

The dvd menus are the same for all of them which is lame. I like the music choice for the dvd menus though.

The booklet is kinda lame. The bios aren't very accurate. I do like the new art work that was used for the book. Unfortunately a few of the pics in it are old art work/shots from the show itself.

Audio The dub voices with japanese music is really nice. Especially since it's 5.1 but even that takes a hit since the voices overpower the music so much. It also really sucks that the dub voices with dub music don't get 5.1...lame..

Video The highlight of this set. The colors are better than the dragonbox in my opnion. Sadly, in some(very few) of the shots the lines around the characters are "missing".

The cropping, I almost forgot about that! It's more cinematic, as funimation said but it does loose more footage than it gains. I personally prefer widescreen(just barely) just because of the "cinematic" feel.

Extras Lol! The extras suck in this release. In this set the only extras are trailers, special remastering dbz trailer, and a remastering dbz featurete. The extras are better than most dbz dvds but they're still really lame.

Overall The widescreen presentation is enjoyable and the audio is pretty good. The set isn't perfect though but overall it's well worthwhile to buy this set for $30. I give it an 8/10.

Well said.

I'm busy with an assignment tonight, but expect a review from me sometime tomorrow afternoon.

The Prince's review is exactly how I feel. I'm not alone
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

I'm *finally* getting my set tomorrow and I know that you all were DYING to hear what I think about it... -_-' But really yeah. For the record, I think we all should've seen numerous threads on people's take on the new boxset. I mean even if you don't like it, its still big news. I'll try my best to mention what wasn't said already, which is easier said then done..Well, until tomorrow..!

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

You misunderstand my intent. I'm not trying to pick fights with anyone over a DVD release or anything else. I'm just stating that wanting a quality product, from a technical aspect as well as a "normal joe" aspect, and being a DragonBall fan (as I have been for well over a decade now) are not mutually exclusive things. Pointing out flaws in this set doesn't make me or anyone else any less of a DragonBall fan.

Review #9000

Ahem! For those who care (everyone), I got my set. Now I'm not going to put out a full review because you all have seen it and heard it all. I'm just going to point out a few things that I've seen. First thing I did was look at the booklet. Moments later after disposing of the booklet, I went straight to disk four containing Piccolo's death and Goku's return.

Yes! I noticed the chili peppers in ChaLa and yes it was kind of awkward getting used to the JPN audio with the Dub voices but I want to stress that playing with the dub music is pointless. It's bad! I've gave Corey a great example of how bad Menza music can be, I can't think of a better one heh heh. I didn't have much time to watch it seeing how I got it about an hour ago.

But, I'm looking at this set knowing I'm not going to watch all of these anytime soon. Call me a bad fan but "The strangest Robot" can wait. Oh and I want to point out that this boxset sticks out so much in my dvd collection (I'll leave it in my kitchen for now to blend in). I have a question: If Funimation didn't do too much work on these, how much are episodes actually worth? I mean if they could pull off selling dvds for so cheap, how much would an honest "remastered" episode be worth? Thank you and good night!

* Notice I didn't give an "excuse" for getting the set.
** I'm guessing the forum members didn't see all of the #@$* FUNi people actually changing their tone the last second.
***I'll do an actual review when I'm not tired/lazy..someday.
