Yeah. Obviously. I'm hoping they'll have a story mode, so the PL's in each 'stage' would pretty much be set anyway.

Goku's alternative costume in Budokai 2 is the one he wears when he fights Ubuu near the end of Z. It's the same thing in GT, but with different colors.

How different? I'm partially colour blind (and partially rubbish at remembering the final few episodes), but the GT top is a darker blue, isn't it? What about the trousers?

Oh, a thought. Does Goku's gi actually go from red to orange (or whatever) when he turns Super Saiyan in the games? (And why is he the only character whose clothes get lighter when that happens, anyway?)

His GT top is like a dark baby blue, pants are yellow, and his wrist bands are pink.

So far, I've only seen Goku's gi go from red to orange in Budokai 3. I think it goes like this: normal=redish orange, ssj=orange, ssj2=lighter orange, and ssj3=like a very light gold and yellow color mixed together.

What were the colours in the "ten years later" bit?

I did notice that in the first Budokai, for the Goku vs Freeza "episode", they did lighten his trousers. I'm guessing they couldn't actually do it on the regular transformations, but they did it there because you started as Super Saiyan. Or something.

And just to check, no-one else's clothes change colour when they transform into Super Saiyans, do they? In the anime, I mean.

In the anime version of the "ten years later" part, his top is like an aqua blue, pants are turqoise, and wristbands are yellow. But in the manga version, his top is like a forest green color. I messed up on the GT part, his top is actually pretty much a normal blue color, not baby blue.

I think everyone who turned super saiyan in the anime emitted some light, but it was never so drastic that it would change the color of their clothes like Goku.

No one likes Raditz or Nappa, but maybe we should leave them in to remind everybody that some Saiyans do, in fact, suck and don't dominate the series.
Speak for yourself. Raditz is my favorite character.

Anyway, I like the idea of a level-up mode. When I say DBZ 3 should be an uber-update of the first two, people tell me that there wouldn't be enough room. But if you look at the data size of Budokai 2, it takes up about 2/5 of a real DVD's space. So there should be room for assloads of new characters, moves, costumes, modes, etc.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

Very, very, very few games use anywhere near the full capacity of a DVD. Especially if we take dual-layering into account. (Are there any dual layer PS2 games?)

It would have been lazyness (or if you prefer, time constraints) that prevented them putting all the Budokai 1 characters in Budokai 2. Nothing more. So there's no reason 3 can't have everyone from the previous games, and more.

Besides, stuff like that isn't what takes up the space. It's usually the video, music, and general multimedia files.

Xenosaga.

I would like unlockable content on the disc. Videoclips or something. Something that can be unlocked in a menu ~_~

I think GTA:VC is as well. The easiest way to tell is pop the game into a PS2 that's giving out DRE's. If it works, it's not a dual layer. If it don't, it is.

Anyway, yeah, unlockable stuff beyond what we got in the first two would be nice. Like, when you gain the SSJ skill for Goku you unlock the scene from the anime etc... and of course, making of stuff for the game. And little funny things for in the options, like an SD mode. :D

That's a nice idea, actually. If space was an issue, I'd easily settle for CGI recreations of some of the scenes. I actually thought that some of the story bits from the first game came across better than they did on TV, due to the speed and the "animation" (Cell marching towards #17 being a good example. In the game, he looked momentarily frozen in fear. In the anime, it was almost as if he accidently went into stasis.)

And if GTA:VC is dual-layer (which is might very well be), it makes it even more bizaire that the PC version comes on CD.

If they really wanted to create an awesome game, regardless of time or money, they should add new (not recreated) animated scenes. For instance, let's say you beat Majin Vegeta's story mode. It goes to a clip of Vegeta dancing around Goku's body, throwing confetti and singing Hallelujah. That sort of thing would be so much more fun than the standard endings. :D

Yeah, and character specific intros/victory scenes and comical ones would rule. It'd be a good deal of work to do, but it would be so cool.

Chibi Trunks Vs. Goten
Trunks: Alright Goten, let's go!
Goten: Time to lose Trunks!

Trunks(wins): Hey Goten, you okay down there?
Goten(wins): I... I did it! I beat Trunks! Weeeeeeeeeeeeee! *starts jumping up and down*

Or, for some fun:
Great Saiyaman Vs. Ginyu
Gt Sayaman: *does poses* I am the champion of Justice! Great Saiyaman!
Ginyu: Hey, you're good. Want to join the Ginyu Force?

Saiayman(wins): .... Do my posess look like that?...
Ginyu(wins): Dance of Victory! *dances*

And then, the requried...
Goku Vs. Vegeta
Goku: Alright Vegeta, let's do this!
Vegeta: Prepare to die Kakkarotto!

Goku: Not bad Vegeta.
Vegeta: I.... I beat.... I beat Kakkarotto! *stats dancing* Who's the man, who's the man! I am, I am!

My Budokai has Japanese talking (it being English and all), so I'm not sure if you're joking, but don't they do that already? The characters seem to have a couple of things they say at the start of fights, but certain pairing produce different animation, such as Cell vs Freezer (DRAMATIC CAMERA PAN), Kuririn vs #18 (Kuririn looks embarrassed), Gohan vs Piccolo (Gohan bows), and others. Likewise, certain victory scenes are different. When Goku beats Gohan, instead of his normal victory pose he folds his arms and smiles.

Any idea what they are saying in those scenes? In the dub version, if that's all you've got?

My true dream idea for a DBZ game would have one saga per game. This way, perhaps about one whole planet could be loaded into a game (Saiyan - Earth, Freeza - Namek, etc). There would be no "levels," per se, just areas you find that come from the show. You would actually have to fly everywhere. And the terrain would be altered with Ki blasts or when someone or something is knocked into it, ala Red Faction.

My other idea is that the game would be mostly from a third-person perspective, and would utilize a targeting system. This would allow for more than two players to fight, and would be great online play. Also, this would allow for completely free flight and movement, adding world's of strategy. This third-person mode would be used for distant fighting and maybe flying attacks. Also, this would make transformations such as "giant ape Vegeta or Gohan" possible. The game might utilize the average 2-d looking fighting system if up close to your opponent and on the ground. The character's power levels would try to match the show, so it might take a WHILE of fighting to take down a big enemy or a good player. Hopefully, the fighting mechanics would be deep and addictive enough to sustain the fun factor.

One could play through the actual story, switching between characters on the fly. Since many of the saga's involve much, much training, perhaps one could simply select a training regiment to level up and customize his or her characters' move sets and pick which stats to build up. During battles with more than one good guy, one could select commands and make strategies for characters not being played. At times, your objective would simply be to survive rather than win the day (unless you really manage to do it), such as when Goku is racing to Earth after the Saiyans arrive and Piccolo, Tien, Yamcha, Chaotzu, Krillin, and Gohan might hold out against Nappa. You'd simply have to rely on good strategy instead of button mashing. Following the way the story goes or winning seemingly impossible battles (Vegeta vs. Kid Buu) would earn special awards, such as Senzu beans, powerful villians, or (in the Buu addition) Potarra earrings which could be used for when one uses one of his or her characters in online multiplayer.

Speaking of fusion, both could be used in multiplayer or single player (once learned), but the dance would obviously be impermanent. One of the two players (if used in multiplayer) would control the resulting character while maybe one just watches or uses another character. Both players would have to tap a button at the exact moment the fingers touched (controller might vibrate) to fuse right.
The Potarra would be permanent, so one would have to choose wisely before picking a character to fuse (if you really like one of the characters), but the fusion would be substantially more powerful than with the dance. As said before, the spare earrings (besides the ones Vegeta and Goku use in the story mode) would have to be earned.

Custom characters would have to be used in story only as a minor character (unless the game used text instead of actual voices, in which case, I guess it could work).

Music would be variations of tracks from the Japanese version.

But that's my ideal game. It'll never happen. I like Budoukai, it's just missing the intensity and tension that fights in the series are famous for. When I control a Super Saiyan Vegeta, I want to FEEL like I'm controlling Super Saiyan Vegeta, none o' this invisible wall or can only walk 10 feet away from your opponent crap. He wouldn't stand for that, at all.

Oh, well.

I'm done.

Yes.[/i]

These are the quotes I can remember off the top of my head, and they are pre-battle quotes. I think Vegeta is the only character who has a custom winning animation, after beating Goku he says "I finally did it!" Oh, and if Kuririn beats 18 he says "I LOVE YOU 18!!!"

Freeza Vs. Cell
Freeza: Let me finish! (Yeah, makes no sense)
Cell: Who's the strongest?!

Goku Vs. Gohan (child & teen only)
Goku: Wow, you've gotten a lot stronger Gohan!
Gohan: N/A

Goku vs. #16
Goku: Hey there gloomy gears.
#16:...Kill...You.

Goku Vs. Freeza
Goku: You never learn, do you?!
Freeza: Exterminate Saiyans!!

I have my own question though. Everytime Freeza attacks, he sounds like he says Kijii, which I think I remember was japanese for "time to die" or something like that. Can anyone confirm that?

I think Budokai 3 should take some of the best features of Budokai 1 and 2 and put them to use, namely the Story Mode (May as well follow the story of GT and the Movies since were this far), next bring back Dragon World, but allow multiple players to play (Online Play sounds good if you ask me, have like 4 people going at it, and have multi-tap support too), then ya gotta have the Tournment mode (Again, online play does wonders), and the awesome Legend of Hercule ...I mean...Mr.Satan mode would be hot too, in fact having this mode cover Mr.Satan through all the DBZ saga's would be cool! Have him fight Freazia,Cell,Buu and all the GT+Movies villians! ...be great!

Far as characters go -

Add in Godo,Burter and Jeice! Comon! We gotta have the whole Ginyu Force!

Throw in Androids 13-15
For novelty purposes, add in Android 8 ^^
Garlic Jr and his original henchmen playable
Turles, Lord Slug, and Bojack playable
Throw in Taipon

Now for Gameplay changes -

1.Give the game an arcade mode - you battle all the characters in the game, but with limited continues! If you beat it, you get a neato ending for your character and maybe unlock something new

2.Make the game play more like a 2D fighter, allow characters to jump and fly, and its gotta be fast paced (take some examples from DBZ Buuku Tougeki/SuperSonic Warriors on GBA)

3.A surival mode! Must have!

4.Make the transformations for some characters make use of some special effects, or maybe even have a short cinema for a power up scene

5.There needs to be a after image button! Nuff said! Be cool to appear behind your oppenent to catch'em off guard or complete a combo

6.Finishing Moves! It would be GREAT to finish off your oppenent! Everyone must have one!

7.No more buying capsules to gain moves/unlock characters, instead just have everything avaliable from the get-go, but reserve some things like really secret characters and modes for later!

8.Give characters multiple costumes that you can unlock! And I dont mean color palette swaps, I'm talking new costumes (Piccolo's outfit in the drivers license episode comes to mind!)

Graphical Changes -

1. Blood! I cant stress this enough! This game needs blood!

2. Character damage! Bruises, scratches! Yes! I think the models can handle it! Hell, Mortal Kombat Deadily Alliance managed!

3. Characters all have original fighting stances, normal moves, throws, taunts and win poses now. It was kinda lame when a character won a match or taunted or thrown their oppenent and they did the same pose another character used

Yup...thats all I can think of now...

I think the tag team idea is a great one! For extra characters, there should be a chibi mode so everyone could fight chibi style, even if it means I'd be so distracted by the adorable chibi-ness ^^; Movie characters too of course. I also like the idea of leveling up, but the characters should be kept at similar strengths so they have a chance of beating each other. The idea about being able to collect clothes to wear appeals very much to me too. It would also be nice if they put in a better way to fly rather than just being knocked into the air - it would be cool if there was a button to push that would actually make you fly!
