So it's basically Freeza's segway.
What can I say, I loved the idea, and I was very bored.

That is awesome

I always thought of it as this. Freeza is amazingly powerful, said to be the most powerful force in the universe. But he looks frail and weak inside of his chair. Toriyama drew this monster of a being to look brittle and old, to further push his character, make it more reveling that he was so strong.

This talk of Freeza's hover chair keeps reminding me of
this. I can imagine him riding around in it, too.

Notice, if you will, that Freeza does not use his chair in his ship. But, if memory serves, Coola only used it in his ship. Discuss.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

I think Freeza did use it in the ship before. It was in Guldo's flashback about Vegeta, when Freeza suddenly knocked him down with his energy. He was then shown in it, but that's about it. Cooler probably feels like he's more established, considering he's older.

I already know that flashback wasn't canon. I was just givin an example of Freeza being in his chair while in the ship. Who knows? Maybe Guldo's memory sucks because he himself sucks?

Didn't Toryama himself accept the Bardock special as canon? Because in that Freeza was in his floating Segway when he came out of the ship.

He did insert Barduck into the manga because he liked the special so much, but whether he intended this to mean that everything in the special is part of manga continuity is up for debate. At any rate, in the manga panel with Barduck, Freeza is shown in his hoverchair as he destroys Planet Vegeta, and he's presumably out in space (unless he blew through his own spaceship to destroy the planet).

After careful consideration I believe his hover chair is a giant sex toy.

I'm not saying this because I watched Doctor Who last night, but he has a real Davros-like menace about him in that chair, even if it is flying. Plus Freeza loses an arm and lower body like Davros.
It's not like his Rascal or Segway or anything like that, its just his throne.
He starts off looking frail and incapable and then we learn he's this awesome power to be reckoned with, Freeza is the best fucking villain.

Well, from what I've read, Toriyama drew Freeza to look like what he thought American and Japanese monsters looked like when he was a child.
