Rumer: Lionsgate Entertainment's license expires 2010?!

We did sadly, I bought all three movies individually and then had to buy the three movie set, just to get a copy of the tenth anniversary movie where the subtitles didn't cut out half way through the movie (So I am sitting on shrink-wrapped NTSC copies of the first two movies)

I posted it twice to Madman, and each time got a new copy of the same faulty disc, They are absolutely pathetic, despite numerous emails they never actually responded, they just shipped me out a new copy of the disc, between their awful authoring hack jobs, their terrible customer service and the fact they aren't releasing uncut One Piece episodes, I'm pretty much done with them.

That's lame... But good to know, since I was planning on buying the Anniversary Special soon. Now I guess I'll try and get one from America or something. And as for them not releasing One Piece... that's just plain disappointing, since I was waiting for that release. Where did you buy your Movie box set from?

My family were over in the states at the time, so they picked it up from over there (along with the "First strike" movie box set, don't care about the dub, I just wanted Steve Simmons' subs) and with the state of the Australian dollar at the moment, it's probably cheapest to get it on Amazon.

Better yet, try Ebay. The movies on there go for dirt cheap. But Amazon is a solid option as well.

Dragon Ball Movie Box

If you're willing to pick it up used, it's pretty cheap.

I also think I'm finally going to pick up the last two Ultimate Uncut discs, they're dirt cheap.

It looks pretty authentic. The seller has some other good ones aswell. But under the ratings it says "Not Rated." Should that worry me?

The ratings system is different in the US from Australia, the OFLC makes us plaster huge classification bars on our DVDs, where in the US some tiny text saying "For ages 13 and up" on the back seems to suffice.

Yeah, I know about that. I have a few American DVDs around. I'm just a but surprised that they don't have the "13 and up" in the rating section, or ratings on any that I've looked at so far.

It doesn't look terribly suspicious, and the seller has decent feedback, however if something goes sour, please don't blame me!

Exactly. Make no money now, no money in 2010 doesn't affect LionsGate. I'm sure they're much more interested in selling the license to FUNi so that they can get some minor profit now, while FUNi is looking at it as one less expense if they just wait it out. Both companies are being smart about this; it's not a matter of LionsGate being greedy OR of FUNi being cheap.

Who cares anyway. Do you really need to have Dragonball movie 1 dubbed by FUNi's terrible voice actors?

The only real benefit of a release would be the subtitles. Otherwise, just import the Dragonbox single edition from Japan.

If LionsGate's sub-license is something really long like 99 years as has been rumoured for a while now, it'll be damn funny.

FUNi will be waiting a long time.

Yes, they do need to redub movie one with their own cast.

I don't get it, why can Funimation just get their own license by going to Toei Animation in Japan. Is it more expensive then waiting for Lionsgate license to finish or what?

Not everyone feels that way. Personally I thought Ms. Nadolny's Goku was the best English Goku of all.

Besides, it's not like new copies are being printed of the old ones.

They did license the show from Toei, then they went and sub licensed the rights for distribution to Lions gate.

Funimation own the show, but they had to let another company get the distribution rights, Funimation couldn't handle that stuff back then, which is why Pioneer was releasing DBZ before.
